Anyone here still play the 565 irons? I do and I absolutely love them but have interest in replacing my 4-5 irons with ZX4 MKII 4-5 irons and keeping the 565 6-AW in the bag. Has anyone already done this?

565s rule.  One of my favorite sets ever.

I also love the zx4 Mkii irons.  If you go 4-5 in zx4, you may run into a bit of a gapping issue.  You could probably even go 5-6 and have two 6 irons.

Are the finish on these the same? Looking at pictures I’m not sure if the ZX4 MKII will stand out like a sore thumb next to the 565s.

If I bent the 4 & 5 irons 1 degree weak it looks like they would be the same as stock 565 4 & 5 iron lofts of 22* - 24*.  Would that help?

I haven’t seen them side-by-side but I believe the soles should look similar.  Finish on the cavities will be different though.

I like that idea.  I also think it’s a brilliant idea to go Zx4 Mkii in the long irons because they are so easy to launch.

My one regret with the ZX5s is not getting the ZX4 bent 1* weak for the 5-iron. I love the ZX5 6-iron. I love my 4H. But the 5-iron is the shakiest club in my bag. Having something a tad bit easier should have been the call.

I’ve always loved a chunkier 5i.  I had a DCB 5i to go along with my Apex 21 set.

I had my first round this weekend with the ZX5 mk II irons (7-P). It was my second round with the ZX4 mk II 6&7.

You can count me as another tally in the column of “ZX4 actually feels better than ZX5.”

ZX4 with CTaper 120S hard stepped one time just is a better fit for me than ZX5 with CTaper 130X. Could strictly be shaft related, but my dispersion with ZX5 was worse than the longer ZX4 irons.

Comparable short irons in Ping i230 with Project X 6.5 seemed way straighter to me. The same amount of curvature between i230 and ZX5 requires a much worse strike from the i230s in my few rounds I’ve tested. I’ll give it some more time, but I think I may ditch the ZX5s.

Interesting. I'm still waiting on my build but I'm a long time Mizuno player who is moving into the ZX5's 4-PW. I'm excited but nervous amount playing golf with something non-Mizuno for the first time in 15 years.

I tried out the OG ZX5 and ZX7 about a year ago and honestly I really liked them. I’ve been on a major journey testing different shaft and head combos, and unfortunately I never had those ZX heads in the right shaft. However, I loved the turf interaction and they are very forgiving considering the size. They move through thick rough wonderfully. As long as you have the right shaft, give them a fair chance.

Just saw the ZX4 MKII today for the first time and I'm blown away at how good it looks at address! I'm all for making the game easier for myself so I'm considering getting these. My only concern is the design to hit it high. Can those who have these give feedback on whether these fly higher than normal compared to what you used in the past? I'm a naturally high ball hitter with speed so that'd be my only concern. TIA!

ZX7 MKii are fantastic.  Srixon keeps impressing.  I have struggled for a couple years now trying to find my game again and after 2 rounds with these, I can tell I might be on to something good here.  Loving them.

Finally hit mine this weekend and they’re great.

I did find them a little lower spinning that the ZX7 last year but will see as I get more time in with them.

Funny how different we all are. I read a few posts saying these seem to be higher launching and spinning, but I agree with you.

Ive only hit my zx7's 4x indoors and find them low launch and low spin. I'm seeing more overall ball speed than the first zx7's but so far ive seen lower spin than previous model. My 7i spin is around 5300 with a Bridgestone Tour B XS. I usually seeing at least 6000 with other irons. So far this year ive had PXG Gen 5 T, Miura MC 501, Miura MB 101, TM P7mc, and Mizuno Pro 223. All 5 were higher spinning than Mk II

I would not say I have speed in swing (7 iron carry about 150) so my perspective may not be useful to you. I do not find the zx4 to fly higher than other irons in its category. Came from Ping Gs which did fly very high. So, I wouldn’t be concerned about zx4 flying too high. They also are on lower end of acceptable spin from my experience, but with more speed, spin may actually work out well.

Ordered a set of ZX5mk2s 5-AW on the Srixon glitch and finally got them in hand. Currently playing a combo set of 585 (5-6)/ 785 (7-PW). First impressions, they look fantastic. Short iron and wedge soles look a bit heavy to me in the bag, but at address I dont see much difference in topline from the 785s. Longer blade no doubt, but I think I can live with it. Theres no doubt that these are miles better than the 585. Ball comes out with ease and launches high. Really effortless. My miss is a tad thin, and you wouldnt know it with the ZX5mk2 where the 585s really drop in height. More of a clack sound that takes a bit of getting used to, but feels powerful. Immediately plugging the Zx5mk2 in for my Z585s at the 5 and 6 iron and taking over the 785 at the 7 iron. Debating to just rock the entire ZX5mk2 set. Yes, the feel is not the same of the 785s. Not close. But the added distance is really nice, was still able to work the ball left and right, plenty of height to old greens (although we will see come summer time in the desert when greens are firmer than firm). Only hit the AW a few times and it was a beast on full shots. Didn't trust it enough to use it around the greens yet, so more testing needed. But impressive beginnings here.

I got my combo set (zx5 4-6/zx7 7-P) a few weeks ago and really like the clubs but was a little curious about the distances I was getting with each iron. Had the lofts and lies checked today and they were all over the place. 6 degrees of loft difference between my 8 and 7 iron, both zx7.  Ordered my set one degree upright and they were all 2-3 degrees up. Great clubs but make sure you get your specs checked.

I loved the 565s. They were amazing heads, my only issue was the GH980 shafts. Those weren't my favorite.

I felt the ZX5s didn't feel as good as the 565s, but performed similarly and loved the Modus 105 in them. The MKii ZX5's are the best of all worlds. Feel better than the 565s and have the same performance we love.  I am likely going to get the ZX4 5-iron though.  With all 3 sets, the line of demarcation was between the 5 and 6. I just hope it doesn't get me horny for a full set of ZX4s, lol

Has anyone compared the ZX5 A wedge to the RTX6 zip core wedges?  I was only able to hit the 7 iron in the simulator, and was getting about 15 yardrs further than my current 7 iron.  PXG Gen 5 Ts. I ordered the 5-A wedge,  but I'm worried about the gaping.  I hit the 54 RTX6 about 105 on a smooth swing,  but I'm thinking if this A Wedge is just 10 yards longer than my current A wedge it's gonna go roughly 125 to 130. I know the zip core spins more,  so I'm wondering if I shouldn't get another 50 degree in RTX6 to fill that gap.  I have that yardage allot, and prefer a full shot rather than a 3/4 one.

I ordered a set of ZX4 MKII 5-AW and bent the 5i and AW 1° strong to fit my loft gapping. Looking forward to gaming them. I love my i230s but it’ll be nice to have a fun set to mess around with. I travel for work a lot so not taking my gamers is ideal in case somebody gets sticky fingers. I think the ZX4 look better than Apex, P790, and JPX Hot Metal/Hot Metal Pro.

After playing the mkii zx7’s for a month I went ahead and ordered the zx5 in 5 and 4 iron to try to get some extra forgiveness. I ordered the 5 at 2° weak and kept the 4 standard to blend better. With the ZX7 5 and 4, my best swings are rewarded, however my below average are punished when pulling these clubs from 200 and 215 out. If that doesn’t give me any improvements my second idea is to cut down shaft lengths 1/4’ for the 5 and 1/2’ for the 4 and see if that helps forgiveness as I tend to not notice 6 being an issue contact wise. If I cut them I am aware I’ll have to experiment with lead tape.

These are small tweaks for optimization, I’m a low single digit tips golfer and have never loved my mis hits with long irons, struggling to trap them like shorter irons, it’s not the clubs fault here they are still fantastic.

I have Zx4 mkii 5, 6 and 7 iron. I also have the Zx5 mkii 8, 9 and PW. Creates a gap between 7 (28.5 degrees) and 8 iron (35 degrees). Would be curious on how you would adjust lofts on this combo set to blend them.

Did you have the lofts checked?  The Zx5s were supposed to be bent 1* strong.  If they are not, I would start there.  And if the gap is still a bit much, maybe bend the 7 iron 1* weak.

I had an issue with my ZX5 5 iron - it was way off on swing weight. I experimented by choking down and adding lead tape and that helped quite a bit. Just a thought…
