Like mookie7 says, the vsole provides great turf interaction.  They just don’t dig easily.  And imo the zx5s are a perfect blend of forgiveness and feel in a great looking club. Though in my opinion, the 565s 2 generations ago felt better.  And the 7 feels much better than the 5. But I want/need the extra forgiveness.

Srixon has been making good irons for awhile.  Their 302 and 506s were great in the early 2005-2010 range. Then they pulled out of the US market leaving it to their sister company Cleveland.  They came back about 10 years ago with the 545/745 and killed it since.

100% agree on the 565 here.  I still play them in my 565/765 split set and love them.  Love the 765 too.  The new offerings are the closest to giving my set a run TBH.  I might pounce once the new iteration drops and the ZX5 and 7 go on sale.

Mine has the same job - primarily a 3rd t option after D and 3w.  Will use on long par5s if I have the opportunity.  Been rainy here - so tomorrow is the maiden range session.  Sunday 1st round.  Hopefully my driver behaves Sunday as there are a couple par5s I can reach in 2 if I get a good start off the T.

Monday night was the best Iron striking day I had all year and possibly in 10-11 months.

So I gave the new 4i a whirl last night at the range.  Once I got the feel for things it really took off.  I think I am going to like it.  I was flying the club downrange past the 200yd mark, which is perfect for my setup.  First round is Sunday - hope things work out.

One thing about Srixon irons, and I have felt this way for a bit, I think they offer so much forgiveness in their lineups.  I went with their GI 4i to add a bit of help, but I could easily play the 5 series here.  Kinda like when we say a shaft plays soft to flex.  Srixon irons can be played by lots of folks and not really in what they think they should be playing.  Heck if I was a righty Id be thinking of going with 5 series long, 7 mid, and the forged in the short.  They are just that easy to hit and get results.

Hey mate, so you've made the switch to Srixon too! Bought the ZX 5 a couple of years ago and absolutely love them. My longest iron is the 5 iron but it is an absolute cannon. Love to hit it on long approaches or off the tee. One of my favourite clubs. Agree they are so forgiving whilst also feeling great.

Ive been a srixon guy since the 565/765 went into the bag.  Havent even looked at other irons until the latest iteration.  They are so forgiving and smooth to hit.  I love my 565 5i, and I really like the 765 8i.  Not sure why, but I love when I have them in my hands.  When I can, I play back to 150 so I can hit the 8i lol.

So i got to hit the new stick during a round Sunday.  Used it a few times.  Wasnt very good with direction but that was me not aiming properly I suspect.  Carried one 215 pin high but off the green right (im lefty) on a par5.  Chipped up, made bird.  I think it feels a tad light, going to get it on a SW scale after work today see where it checks in.  Im so feeble I notice those things and it messes me up.

Funny you say that- I've always played 125-130g shafts but I was tempted to go 105x cuz I didn't want them to feel too stout/boardy.

just got mine last week. Did my 5/6/7 iron shafts in a 105x bc I love the height it gives me. Driver SS is 120 but I like the feel of the 105 because they’re super stable and effortless to swing. Unsure if I want to go with 105x or 125x in the 8-PW

Back and forth between the ZX7 and T150 - I really think the ZX7 are much much more forgiving and longer...

This is why we need to hit irons before any decisions.  For me , the T150’s were the more forgiving iron, just marginally.  As far as distance, the ZX7 in total distance is longer, but that is because they spun much lower for me.  Carry distance’s were a wash.

Both great irons

Yep I have 3 sets and multiple sets (different shafts) or T200 ZX7 and T150s...

I honestly score the same with all of them so I'm going to rotate until I find a Hot set and stick to them.  Right now those are stock T200s.

I have moved on from my combo set.

if the entire set was blades I might have stuck with them.

I do not get along with the sole of the zx7 long irons. Just too thick for me, they feel slow and clanky. I have never hit a 4 iron worse then i have this zx7. Played p7mc last year and I could crush that thing, felt so pure.

just picked up a new set of Callaway apex CB. These things really fit my eye! Love the look! Have hit them in the fitting bay. Get them on the course tomorrow!

Honestly the 4-5 feel Dull. Like I'm smothering the Ball.  The T150s Feel "Crisper" if that makes sense.

I'm hitting the ball much better right now and have a lesson tonight so maybe Ill get them dialed in.

I like the T200, the T150 and Srixon... I don't LOVE any of them

Just had my first round with my new black chrome ZX7's with Axiom 125's in them.  WOW!  I haven't played Srixon since my 945's and forgot how much I love the v sole.  So forgiving and easier to hit than my Miura TC201/MC502 combo set.  I hit a couple "off" shots and they still went straight and on the green.  My Miuras would have ended up well short of the green with that type of strike.  Does anyone know what the UL stamp on all the hosels means?

How are Zx5 out of the rough?

Solid but you have to avoid going too deep. Like most modern irons, they are a bit dead high on the face.

If you are a low cap, or a high single digit cap that strikes it well, try something other then the zx7. They are ok but I don’t think they are all that they are hyped up to be.

the sole just does not work for me. Feels slow and clanky. Give me a thin sole over the v-sole any day

possibly just a bad fit for you and maybe the shafts, but the hype is real and everyone loves the zx7 and zx5. Never heard anyone describe the sole width in the zx7 as thick, what do you think is thin?
