Srixon ZX MKII Irons

Hit them again today and so far they feel great but the fitting cart options are terrible. They only had the stock 105 and a kbs lite shaft. I want them to continue their foothold in the marker but they really need to step up the fitting cart options.  Hopefully they will have more shaft options to try at the demo day in the spring

Yeah, the fitting cart sucks at my local course too!!  It's crazy, they just can't get the whole process down across the country.  It seems that in certain parts of the US they are plentiful, then other's it's just bunk!!

Just wanted to say that Srixon is shipping out custom orders quick! I put in an order with the below specs late Friday PST 2/3 and they just got delivered Saturday 2/11. They even made a pit stop at the retailer I ordered through to be checked. Everything seemed to be on spec. I didn't order a super exotic shaft so maybe that helped.

Not if you want any type of Recoil they're not.

Is the shipping date getting pushed later than what you were told to expect prior to ordering? I would hope that the wait is no longer than we've seen the last few years, 6+ months on occasion.

Went to Golf Galaxy today for a driver fitting and took the time to look around at irons while waiting. Here’s the 7’, 5’s and 4’s…they all look fantastic and everyone is right the 4’s are a HUGE IMPROVEMENT

Now that I look at the 7,5, and 4 side by side, I see what Srixon did to make the ZX4 look small we than it actually is. If you notice, they made the width of the grooves shorter heel to toe, and left more of the toe showing. Pretty smart by them. Looking forward to trying the ZX4’s soon.

Is it what they told you? I got my ZX5 5&6 iron with Recoil 95 F4 last Thursday and I'm hoping my order of ZX7 7-PW will arrive next week or two. My pro's rep told him couple weeks ago that they expect to receive Recoil 95 shafts for my set on 2/17. I'll wait and see if that happens.

Just when I was getting close to swapping the 745's to ZX7's, they come out with the MKII. From what little I've had a chance to read, the MKII's have a little more spin. I am really pretty happy with my spin on the 745's, but now have some concern that the MKII might be a little "spinny" for me? Anyone else playing 745's or ZX7's that don't have an issue with low spin try the MKII's?

I've had the 745's in the bag for 7 years. I decided to buy a set of ZX7 Mk II's, it's the first time I've even been tempted to replace my 745's. I'm yet to be able to get them on the course due to weather, but I've put some time in on my GC2 indoors. The only real direct comparison I've done on the same day so far was with my 7 iron. I'm getting the same 5,500 spin with both irons (I suspect that number will be 6,000 or a little higher off grass), same exact launch angle as well. The only difference I'm seeing in data is about 3 more mph of ball speed with the ZX7 Mk II.

Played my ZX7 MKII's yesterday.  I hit 8 range balls on the range before playing with the 8 iron. That was the first time hitting them.

Have played the original ZX7's for the last year plus. The only difference is the originals have the NSPro 105 the II's have the 120's.

Just coming off a knee scope, was swinging at best as hard as usual, perhaps a bit easier.

VERY surprisingly I was at least a full half club longer. Consistently.

Feel - I need another round to say they were the same but initially they did/do feel a little different. I can't really put my finger on it so want to get a few more rounds before making the comparison but the initial thought is they do feel different. A dead perfectly flushed shot they were the same, you hardly feel the ball leave the club head. Nirvana. Slightly off was the different feel...  was hitting the ball rather well so I need more comparison but there was a difference, to me. Thinking I could not feel the mishit as well?  More time needed.

They're keepers. Was really worried I wouldn't see/notice any difference between the two sets but there is something going on here that sets them apart.

Interesting to hear from someone that played the OG ZX7's and then graduated to the mkii...good feedback, as the last gen are going for like 400 less at the moment and look as good.

Debating between the JPX 923 forged and a zx utility/zx5/zx7 combo set at moment...I had some MC-502s built, but I think they're just better than I am at this juncture and I could use some forgiveness and distance.

Update on the ZX5s:

Just to refresh, I was not a fan of these when they arrived on 1/17/23. Since they arrived I’ve just assumed I was going to place an order for the ZX7 8-PW. The main issue I had was the sole - it is wide. And speaking of the sole, right after I placed the order for the ZX5s I thought I made a mistake ordering due to the V-sole and the constant chatter about how this sole design doesn’t work with a shallow angle of attack.

I have two rounds and 12 range sessions on these.

To sum it up, these are glorious irons. I’m really enjoying my time with them. When I put a good swing on them, nuke city. When I put a so-so swing on them, they do really well and maybe lose 5 yards of distance. My miss is towards the heel but at a recent range session I put one off the toe. And when I I say off the toe I mean there there was zero space between the ball strike and last section of grooved face. Anymore to the toe and it would’ve been pure chrome. The sound at impact was horrid but the result was pin high. It was a lower flight but I was impressed how well it did.

I’m pleased with the distance gains I’m seeing. When I hit my MP32 7 iron (35°) and then the ZX5 8 iron (35°), the ZX5 is probably netting 10 yards of additional carry and a great ball flight. I’ve struggled with being a low spin/trajectory guy and that is not a problem with these irons.

Feel in these irons is good. The 8-PW have a great feel but the 5-7 seem a little more clicky and I assume due to some additional tech. The end results are excellent. I’m not getting along with the 5 iron but that’s more me than the club.

Regarding the V-sole, no issues or negatives to report. I haven’t noticed any detrimental impact due to my shallow swing.

I am thinking of ordering a ZX4 5 iron and possibly ordering ZX7 8-PW. Only thing holding me back is the potential distance drop off from the ZX7s.

Hopefully these photos are helpful to some folks.  ZX4 are all Mk II versions.  I have certain ZX5 irons in either OG or Mk II versions.

ZX5 mK II irons are 2 degrees weak, so that will reduce offset.  I tried to get the perspective correct for each iron, but obviously there will be a certain amount of distortion due to the angles.

Had my first full range session focused on my new Zx4 Miki’s. Had hit some before, but wasn’t really focused on trying to figure my new irons out in that session, was more trying to just get comfortable swinging them after taking them straight on the course for a round I struggled in.

My initial take is that they give better feedback than I thought might be the case. My main misses are toe and thin. Both were rather obvious to me when I missed in one of those ways. I actually was tending to hit them toe side a lot today. Time will tell if that was just the day. In addition, I think the “forgiveness” factor didn’t play out how I imagined today. I had no launch monitor or numbers, so my opinion is based solely on what I saw and felt. As others have said, if I hit it out of the middle, it went far (for me) and felt great. In fact, 7-10 yards longer than my Ping Gs when hit well, and ball flight windows seemed similar (e.g., when I hit an 8 iron, it flew how I expect my 8 iron to fly, same with 6 or PW, 5 iron probably flew higher than my g, but I think that is more how easy it is to hit for a 5 iron and I rarely strike my G 5 iron as well). But, if I did not hit the middle, the drop off was fairly significant (that same 7-10 yards). I expected the misses to be closer in distance due to forgiveness. That said, I hit them all over the face today (some on purpose as I was trying to get some heel strikes to see what those were like), and the drop off between a normal miss and a really bad miss (way out the toe or way thin mainly) seemed to be minimal. So, I found them incredibly forgiving and consistent amongst my misses today, but almost a club length further when I hit the middle. I don’t know if that was just a today thing. A range ball thing or a feature of the irons. Will need more time to tell, but I thought I would share. The good ones though, feel lightyears better than my Gs did. No hate on the Ping Gs though. Performed great for me for years and very consistent and forgiving. I just wanted something prettier that felt better. Now I’m hoping I can get the zx4s to be as consistent for me as the pings were. We’ll see.

i have been eyeing on the zx7 for a while and theres the new mk2 version. Unfortunately i dont have srixon demos available where im from but when i get to the states ill definitely book a fitting either at Club Champion/2nd Swing/ Sittler Golf.

I have been deciding between the zx7 and the 223. I hit the 223 pretty well but i want a good comparison between the 223 and the zx7.

After reading the forum i see the difference between zx7 and mk2 minimal. zx7 is on a discount now

Custom order on discounted zx7 is no longer possible (i should have put an order when carls offered gift card with discount). If you are okay with modus 120, it is a great deal. Anyway, zx7 (old or new) and 223 are my favorites too.

seems like TGW still has discounted 5-PW. I think ill still go for either MK2s or the 223. i actually use modus 105s with my G425 but i don't really like it, dispersion is all over the place. Somehow 710MBs with Project X 6.0 Rifle gives me better dispersion and accuracy.

I had the opportunity to demo the 223 with S200 and GH950 stiffs. The S200 feels abit duller with less kickpoint compared to the GH950s but somehow the shots are more consistent and accurate. Didn't manage to try the ZX7 since its not available for demo where i come from.

Will be going for a fitting soon with just the 223s to see which shaft is good for me.

Then ill head to the states for another fitting to try both 223s and Zx7 Mk2s probably at 2nd swing or CC.

I am considering adding ZX5 mk2 4&5 irons to my current zx7 OG set (I lost the 5 iron).

I cant figure out the tungsten on the zx5.  The mk1 had a tungsten plug in the toe, but the mk2 doesn't seem to have tungsten in the toe.  Is that right?

Looks like the mk2 may have tungsten in the low middle rear, but am not sure.

Can someone clarify if and where there is tungsten in the mk2 zx5?

Anyone upgrade from the 785’s to the zx7 mkii’s? My 785s are getting pretty worn, I’d assume it would be an easy transition but curious if anyone is seeing any differences.

I played Z765's for a couple seasons. Now I play a blended set of ZU85 5, ZX7 6/7 and Z Forged 8/9/P.

I really like the performance of the ZX7 heads in my set but they feel completely different from the Z765 or Z785. There's a bit more sensation of power/speed off the face with less feedback about strike location. It's a far cry from the feel of any one-piece forging. They perform great but it's a different sort of iron. Try before you buy.
