Nice custom paintfill... loving my ZX7s. These will be in the bag for a while. Much more consistent that I thought and the longer irons are really hot for a players iron! Now I just need to get my hands on the new ZX5 LS driver and the bag is set for a while...

I am using ZX5 5 - 6 (1 degree weak) and ZX7 7 - PW. Initially i had it build with C-taper Lite stiff but i have reshafted them to Modus 120 Stiff. Been hitting them better and more consistently. Loving my irons so far. I think blending from 5 - 6 and 7 - PW is perfect

Curious question here, was thinking of ordering this same combo with the c taper lite. What was the big difference for you with the c taper lite vs the modus 120?

thanks

Just curious how everyone has their irons adjusted? I have zx5 4-7 (5,6,7 all bent a degree weak) the 4 iron is standard loft. They’re combo’d with zx7 (8,9,P all standard loft). I seem to have a pretty big gap between my 8 and 7 iron. I’ve heard some say they have all the zx5’s bent two degrees weak. Wondering what’s worked for everyone else to get consistent gaps?

I went zx5 4-6 stock

zx7 7-pw 1 strong

I went for a fitting with c taper lite and modus 120. The results were quite similar in the simulator just that the modus 120 was abit of a lower flight and lower spin compared to the c taper lite.

I initially decided to order them with the c taper lite. However I didnt really get the groove of it in the range or on the course. Decided to then reshaft it with Modus 120 and had much better shots with the Modus 120. YMMV

I have the ZX4 5-7 and the ZX5 8-PW. Took a few bending attempts to get the gapping right but have them dialed in. I’ve seen some wild comments floating around in these threads about the ZX4s “feeling” better than the 5s. It’s crazy talk (just my opinion). Both are great sets of irons designed to do different things. I have 3 of each club so no bias here.

Overall, I’ve had my best season of golf to date with this iron set. Can’t see myself swapping out anytime soon.

Golf is wiiild. I was down to the same 2 shafts, but modus was way higher(height and spin) than c-taper lite.

played c-taper for awhile but found it to be a little too low in the long irons. Back to modus and now have the perfect flight.

Anyone having an issue with too small of a gap between the ZX5 4 and 5 iron?  I realize there is only 2 degrees but I’m just not getting as much out of the 4 iron.

T100 and T100s difference is also 2 degrees.
That’s interesting.

I wonder if it because the 4 irons end up being a little hotter??

You really need 3* separation between irons minimum.

I actually like 3.5* in my long irons. 4* in mid irons and 4.5*/5* in my short irons and wedges since I’m usually not swinging them as hard and fast as I do my long irons.

‘You can have 2* separation between a utility iron and a standard iron since the utility iron is usually an inch longer than the next iron in your set. You can also do that with a hybrid or 7 wood or something since the are also usually an inch or and inch/a half longer and likely a graphite shaft. So you are generating much more club head speed with only 2* of separation between those two clubs.

Yeah I’m 3-5 degrees difference in all my other irons.  Srixon standard loft is only 2 degrees between the 4 & 5 irons.  I may try having the 4 bent a degree strong.  Not crazy about adding the offset but worth a shot.

Bump your 4i down to 20.5 to create about 10 yards of spacing between 5i. That or get you a ZX utility 4 iron or ZX4 4i and bump them down to 20.5 to get them to play around 215 yards

Big debate i'm having with myself right now-

I've got the T100S's and turn them over super easy. I find the center pretty often but my miss is on the toe side so.. debating going with something more forgiving, either the zx4 or 5, or a combo set. I'm not sure the 5's are enough help that I will notice a lot, but i've only hit 10-15 balls with the zx5.

Shaft wise, I want to stick with stock offerings to keep the price down if I can. I'm gaming the Accra iSteel 115's so would the KBS $Taper 120 or the Modus 120 be a more similar fit? From what I've gathered on here, the $Taper might be a tad stiffer but a closer flex profile.

I'm using the prior ZX utility 4i with MMT 105TX for my 4 iron.  I love that thing.  Then ZX5 mkii 5i and ZX7 mkii 6-PW.  No complaints.  5-P have Modus 120X.  I think I'm going to try KBS $ Taper 130X's in a set to see if it tightens things up at all...not that I find the current build loose at all...just need more boxes coming to the house.

Awesome. I'm thinking ZX5 for 4-5; ZX7 6-8 and the Z Forged blade 9-PW. I just can't figure the 3 iron. You and I have a similar handicap.

Sounds great.  Yeah about the 3i I mean it's a preference thing.  I use that utility 4i for two tee shots at my course and it's great.  It's hard to recommend though due to this being a personal preference thing and also the 7/5/utility heads all being so good.

What are your current thoughts or which way are you leaning?

Honestly I have a Hogan CFT 21 degree hybrid with steel shaft that I still hit well. I might just keep it in the bag and do a 4-PW combo set.

I'm on the fence between the ZX5 mkII 3 iron or the utility. I want the 20* to equally be good off the tee and for long approach shots.

Anyone play the 3 iron in the ZX5 or 7?

I play the ZX5 3 iron bent weak to 22* which I consider my 4 iron and the ZX5 5 iron bent to 26* then ZX7s 6-PW with lofts adjusted for 4* gaps.

For just a little extra help from bunching numbers with the 4/5 irons I play the "4" iron at the 3 iron length.

Bought a set of ZX4 mkII's when my game was in a dark place earlier this season.  Love the 5,6 iron but the rest are too chunky for me.  Just ordered from Srixon ZX5 6,7 irons bent 1 degree weak and ZX7's 8-PW stock loft, all matching shafts and grips to the ZX4's I'd ordered from them earlier.  Already have the RTX6 wedges that I love.  Looking forward to getting the 5/7 combos to go with my ZX4's.  Will have two 6 irons, but the ZX4 6 plays more like a 5 and is so easy to hit.

Anyone playing the ZX5 MKII's with the KBS Tour Lite?  If so, how are they working out?  I think I am going to pick up a set, 4-pw this weekend in stiff.  I hit them last weekend outdoors, and all I can say is....very, very, very nice!

I have the tour lite stiff flex in mine and so far so good.  I’ve decided to order a ZX5 5 iron and sell off the ZX4’s all together.  The zx5 is so easy to hit and the size suits my eye better than the zx4.

The ZX4 head is a touch longer than the ZX5, I could not get along with them.

the ZX5 with the KBS tour lites are just right.

going to trade the ZX4’s at some point.

Curious question here, was thinking of ordering this same combo with the c taper lite. What was the big difference for you with the c taper lite vs the modus 120?

I originally had the Modus 120X in a 4-P ZX7 mkii... they were really good.  Did a mini fit and the CTL turned out to be better on the simulator for me.  Outside, the difference isn't even close.  The CTL by far and away are a better fit.  Ball flight is more penetrating and stopping power is insanely good.  Accuracy has improved as well with my side to side dispersion really tightening up.  Important to get fit to really see and feel what is best.

This time around I went ZX7 mkii 4-7, 8-P Z forged.  I absolutely LOVE the Z forged, too.

I should've scrolled down---i started a thread on this.....But anyway

Can someone describe the offset in the ZX7 MK2? Based on the specs they seem to have one of the highest offset levels of any of the players CBs

I'm just wondering if this is noticeable at address? Do they look like old school Ping I series for example?

hit them against T100S, topline is slightly thicker but other than that look normal to Titleist
