I've played 785s, zx7, and zx7 mkii and have not had any issues. Far from a bust

Complete disagree highest ball flight and spin for me to hold the greens by far the best irons I have played.

I loved my Z765's and agree that subjective feel was better before the ZX lines. On the other hand Srixon is selling way more irons in the US since the ZX were introduced. Trading a little feel for performance and a different look was marketing magic for them.

The Z785 felt soft out of the middle, I find the Zx7 mk1 and 2 to feel firm.

I agree here. I have no issues with flight or stopping power in greens. Played this weekend and the 6 iron only rolled out 3 feet. Short irons stop right beside the pitch mark

I know the knock on the 785s was that they were too low spin.  I never had that issue, I hit them very high with a ton of spin.  We’ve had a ton of rain here in the northeast and I’ve spun back more irons than ever.  Now that it’s drying out I’m not spinning them back as much but finding the ball not usually more than 3-4 feet from the ball mark.    
 

All that being said, I’m a Srixon convert.  I don’t see the 785s leaving the bag for awhile.  They are simply the best iron for me I’ve ever played.  I’ll look at future offerings but the feel needs to be there!

Same for me.  No issues with the ZX7 or ZX7 MKII irons with holding the greens, spin or trajectory.  My ZX7 irons have the AMT White S300 shafts, and the MKII irons have the 120g $ Tapers in them.

I use the axiom 105S for my MKII combo.

I tested the T100 and the ZX7 MKII both with the ACCRA 115 shafts. Coming off Apex MB 18s, I thought the T100 would be the direction I went. I will say the ZX7 MKII really bullied its way into my bag. I got over the bigger footprint and left it to the data. as the numbers don't lie The ZX7 MKII was the clear winner in nearly all data categories.

Planning to build a Frankenset of ZX5 mk ii with my OG ZX7s and hoping someone can help

 

1- Anyone notice better height and spin in the long irons (4 & 5)?

2- I hate the look of the ZX7 AW (why Srixon, why). Would I be thrown off going OG ZX7 6-PW to ZX5 mk ii AW and should just play ZX7 mk ii AW, or would I likely be fine? Any noticeable difference in how the two will play? Is mostly for full shots.

Bumping for info.  What shafts are you guys using and how was the swingweight for the chosen shaft?  Thinking about $ Taper standard length with Midsize MCC and nervous about swingweight…

I’ve had various iron topics where I’ve asked about turf interaction or questioned whether I’m crazy about my ZX5/7 combo turf interaction.  After some more time and working on my delivery I’m finding the ZX5 turf interaction much better and realizing it’s never been a problem with the ZX7.  I really like head shape of both models, knowing the ZX7 is a on the larger size of some CB’s.  
 

I’m ZX7 8-P and 1 strong. 8 iron down is the only clubs I really try to flight a little depending on conditions and these irons work great.  
 

I’ve hit some really solid shots with 5-7 irons but the help the ZX5 provides is impressive.  I made what I thought was a poor swing on very wet dormant Bermuda last weekend only to find my ball on the green.  
 

I’m still deciding on 4 iron vs Hybrid vs Utility iron.  The ZX5 4 iron is not a big enough gap but I’m not sure my 4 hybrid is exactly what I’m looking for.  A utility iron like the fli-hi may be tested. 

 

These are definitely worth a test and probably remain underrated.

a bit more testing and finding these are excellent irons.  SUPER forgiving for the category.

 

Long.  Don't spin enough though.  on Sim - I bet I won't notice on course.

Amazing irons! I was originally fitted with the ZX7s 5-P. However, I realized lather on that I could use a little help with my 5&6 irons when I’m not swinging my best. So I ended up blending my set and swapped in the ZX5 MKii’s in the 5&6 and couldn’t be happier. Gave me the added forgiveness I was looking for in those irons while still maintaining great feels. Not as buttery as the ZX7s but still feels great none the less. The Lofts in the ZX5s are a degree stronger compared to my ZX7s and spin a little less, but they have good height and land angle. So no issues for me there in relation to holding greens

Gorgeous! Definitely much better looking than the OG ZX7 AW!!

 

I had the OG AW and it performed incredibly. But it was a bizarre cross between the ZX7 irons and a Cleveland Zipcore wedge. Unfortunately it was uglier than both, Lol.

uhhh, I specifically bought the zx5 mkii because of their high launch and soft landing. I've never had an iron have backspin enough to stop a ball before these ones. hard disagree.

Was really appreciating the forgiveness of my zx4 mkii 5 iron while playing solo this morning. On two separate holes I hit my approach shot with it like crap (once thin, once clunky way out of the toe). Each time I hit a second ball. Each time I got up to the green to find both balls on it within 10-15 feet of each other in terms of front/back dispersion. First ball ran up on green both times. Second ball got there the conventional way. I’ve never had so many bad swings end up as good as I have with my zx4s. Still love them basically a year in.

Adding to the discussion - got fit nearly a year ago for ZX7 4-PW. I was worried at the time I should have grabbed the ZX5 4iron. Ended up having the best iron playing year of my life. Last tournament of the year I played the tips on a popular course in Northern MI. Most par 3’s required a long iron. My 4 iron was Mr Reliable winning me a closest to among 250+ players. 

 

Just ordered ZX5 3 iron to complete the set.
 

So very happy with these.
