Absolutely love mine. Fantastic irons.

It looks nice better than the utility in my mind.

Has anyone ever split the Zx5 / zx7 irons and went 6-8 zx5 and 9-aw zx7? Thoughts on that combo? I like the forgiveness of the zx5 but maybe the 9-aw would allow for some more spin and hold greens better? Probably bend the zx7 1 degree strong to mesh better.

Thoughts on the zx AW vs the zipcore 50? Might just be better to go with that option.

thanks

Might be helpful to others itt did some extensive gap testing with my combo set (zx4 4i, zx5 5-7i, zx7 8i-P, all shafted with modus 105x, all standard lofts) and my 5i dominates my 4i - equal carry with a much better flight profile

Also had my biggest gap between my 7i and 8i so I am going to take the 4i out and weaken the 7i a bit and strengthen my 8i a bit

I also play a zipcore 50* and the gap bt it and my zx7 pw is reasonable fwiw

Just dropped my zx7mkii/zforgedii combo set for Mizuno o 243.

v-sole not for me. The 243 and me get along much better. So smooth through the strike. Srixon felt clunky to me

I've been using the ZX7s for about a year now (got them as soon as they were available in the UK) and they are the best irons I have owned. Previously I was using Titleist CBs for many years.

One little irk is the 8 iron, for some reason just looks awkward to me at address its something about the shape that I can't quite put my finger on. Just looks a little funky.

The ZK MKII Utility irons are so good.

How is your gapping with your irons, specifically between 5 and 4 iron? I see went with Utility in the 4... something I have thought to do retrospectively.

Yeah the gapping is different plus ZX7 are stronger particularly in the shorter irons. I was actually only playing with 12 clubs (still only 13 probably need a 5w, 7w or 3iron) but added a 50 wedge to bridge the gap between PW and SW which was already an issue then even more so with the stronger PW of ZX7.

In terms of the gap between 4 and 5 I decided to get the 4 U set 1° stronger so the gap would be the same as if I had 4i of the ZX7 otherwise the 2° gap seems a little too close plus after testing I found the ZX U went plenty high enough and it was surprisingly easy to hit so that 1° stronger wasn't an issue at all.

Thats great to hear! Also took some regapping at the bottom of my bag with my newer iron sets… Was actually thinking as the ZX Utility is probably a hotter face to do the 25 degree 5 Iron and the 23 degree 4 Utility but likely to still get that 12-15m gap…is the Utility much hotter and higher flight than the normal irons? What was your gap between those irons with the stronger lofted 4 if I may ask.

I found the 4 Utility hotter and higher, really good off tee as well. I don't recall the exact numbers that went into the decision but when I was getting fitted the 4U at 23 would have been fine but I could afford to get strengthen that 1° to get a fraction more out of it plus with nothing between 3w and 4i in my setup it was a good option for me. Apologies for the lack of exact numbers.

I posted this on another thread but posting here as it is relevant also;

I'm giving up on blades now. I have Titleist 620 MB and love them but they don't love me anymore. I was super keen on the Blueprint S and was 100% convinced that I was going to get them.

Went for a hit last week with 620 MB, Blueprint S and Srixon ZX7 MkII (similar look to Blueprint S) . Hit around 200 balls total and the clear winner was the ZX7. Pretty much a bad strike with the ZX7 lost about 5m but a bad strike with the MB loses 10-15m. I know the MB is weaker at 35d compared to 32d but the consistency difference is stark. ZX7 outperformed the Blueprint S also, not by as much but felt softer and more consistent. Was surprised too as the ZX7 are pretty much 1/2 price of the pings. Have placed an order for ZX7 as a result.

Then compared my 2022 T200 Utility Build 4 Iron (22 deg) with AD DI 85s shaft against the MKII Utility 4 Iron 23 deg (UST f4 stiff) and was amazed by the Srixon. Effortless to launch, felt impossible to miss, better dispersion and carried 3-5M further ! So I also placed on order for that, although bending to 22 deg to move it further away from 25deg ZX7 MKII 5 iron.

Currently deciding between Hot Metals and ZX4. I have a 7 iron in the 923 HM and a 7 iron in the ZX4 (first gen). They are both D2 swingweight, but the ZX4 head feels heavier, which I prefer. Curious why the Srixon would feel heavier if they are both D2. DG95 in the HM and Nippon 950gh Neo in the ZX4.

Maybe balance point.

I have not read any of this thread.

I have my 565/765 combo set 5-PW still rocking them.  Love them!  Not even looking to change.

I am wanting to add the 4i though - I have bounced between 20* hybrids and various utility irons with minimal or inconsistent success.  I do love my 565 5i so I figure I am going to just add a Srixon 4i to the kit.

I am not fully up to date on the current offerings.  So forgive me if I sound dumb.  In talking with Srixon yesterday, I was told the ZX5 MKII would be most like the 565 I play.  I originally was thinking ZX4 MKII as perhaps just a tad more help there.

Anyone care to opine on the 2 models, 5 and 4?  Especially with the 4i or even 5i?  I would use the club on short par4, long approach shots into par5 greens when I have the chance, etc.  So T or FWY need to be available.  I do love the V Sole.

Thank you!!!

It will come down to a matter of preference of course like always...lol  But, I used to have the 565's and also the MKII ZX5.  Totally regret getting rid of the 565's, I thought those were the best 5 series to date.  Yes, basically the 4 iron in the ZX5 MKII will be the closest to the 565, but it will be slightly shorter heel to toe than say the 565 4 iron and have less offset.  With that being said, I think the ZX4 in the 4 iron slot would be more beneficial to you as long as it is not too "chunky" looking to you.

i (obviously) play ZX5’s. When the Mk2 version was released, I was able to demo the full set. I asked the Srixon rep what he thought about mixing on the long end. His response was that the ZX utility models were a better solution than the ZX4’s. The ZX utilities are a very good match from the point of view of size and offset.

My brief demo confirmed that, at least for me. The other aspect he recommended was graphite in the Utilities vs. the steel in the rest of the set.

I hear ya.  I did not mention srixon utility since I have hit and owned a Srixon utility and could not stand it from a forgiveness perspective.  I do not recall what model it was - but was an older one for sure - probably around the time I got the 565/765 set.  Maybe I will revisit.  Good recommendation, thank you.

So I got to see and hit both irons yesterday.  1st off was the 5 series.  This offering is more in line (as mentioned) with my 565.  I was hitting a 7i with a PX LZ shaft.  The LZ is not my preferred shaft but for some odd reason no standard PX 5.5 was available (??).  A real easy to swing and hit combo.  I was on grass outside in 65f degree temps.  No issues hitting this club.  Shaft felt different but that was to be expected.  Then I switched to the 4 series, but this one had a steelfiber 95 in it.  While I hit it fine, there must be something about iron heads and graphite that do not jive for me - I felt I had to slow waaaaaay down to get a result.  When I did it popped, but if I swung my normal quick-ish swing things got dicey.  I really think I will head back and try the 4 series with the LZ shaft and go from there.

Both iron offerings are IMO super solid.  I can tell the 4 series offers a bit more help under the hood.  I am leaning that way in the 4i but the final test will be with a steel 115g shaft to see how it rolls.

I posted a thread here a few weeks back regarding combo sets.  I play the current ZX7's and had a ZX 3 utility at one time.  I couldn't get the consistency I wanted out of this club.  This past month I switched my ZX7 4 and 5 irons to ZX4 Mk II (21 and 24 degrees).   I didn't like the ZX5's in either the OG or MK II when tested.  So far, the switch has been incredible and I'm saving strokes every time I use these irons.  The five iron is going 193 yards and the 4 iron is going 205 yards.   The ZX4 MK2 irons just want to go long and straight with a nice flight pattern.  I'm 65 years old and play to a five handicap.  My last three scores have been 75, 72, and 71.  I'm saving 2-3 strokes per round with this new set up.

I just went to a Srixon fitting a few days ago to see if I wanted to change the 6 iron.  Long story short, I staying with the ZX7.    Just goes to show you that there's a lot of possibilities with the new ZX irons in creating combo sets.

Nice stuff here.  Srixon, I believe, was one of the first OEM to really promote set blending.  I do it with my 565/765 irons and its seamless.

I see a lot of sets for sale all at 1/2 or so longer for the zx5 and zx7. Is there any specific reason why?

thank you

Not sure if Srixon measures irons differently but when I ordered 1/2 longer it wasn’t until a couple months later I found out the irons where 3/4 over standard. Didn’t mind it as it’s been a better length for me, not sure if it’s like that across the board with them.
