UST LIN-Q M40X TSPX Black and Blue

I'm starting this thread because there seems to be little to no information on WRX for these shafts. They're a year or two old at this point and I'm surprised how hard it is to find information about them online, aside from UST's website.

I became curious about them after seeing them in some tour witb's now and again. I was looking for a driver shaft to replace my Speeder 661 TR, and had a chance to demo both the black and blue. Both were really really smooth upon testing - great feel and they seemed to perform on LM's.

I got a Black 6F5 for the driver and the flight I get in my Stealth+ is very similar to what I was getting in the speeder. The ball comes off really hot (I'm around 160 ball speed, 11* LA,  24-2600 spin when swinging a set up that matches well, getting all that from both shafts + stealth plus+ 10.5*). Now, after playing it about a month, I prefer it pretty heavily over my previous driver shaft. The feel is way better, it doesn't feel nearly as stout or demanding (UST marketing materials talk about M40X to thank for lack of boardiness). And most importantly I can hit a 90%/stock fade fairway finder that I couldn't feel in the speeder (I had to go at that one or it felt like it wouldn't kick for me). (Note, sorry for that being the only  comparison, that's the only other driver shaft I own to compare it to). I believe speeder is like a beefier blue board being a very stout mid section. https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/1897666-speeder-661-tr-similar-profiles/#comment-24461356  <-- see here for discussion on speeder TR profile.

I'm not too sure how it compares to the Speeder TR, but the LINQ Black seems to be a really classic white board profile - really even linear kick throughout.

That's as much as I can say on the shaft. It's a great performer for me and I love the feel of it. Never played UST outside of V2 before this so very pleased with this experience. I think I might get a Blue for my 3w as I want something that spins more than current (Diamana DF) and I liked the Blue really well when I demo'd it too, I just sprayed it more than Black. Maybe check BST's for a speeder tr if I need to fund the 3w shaft lol. If I do get one, will add to the thread...

If anybody has history with these please share your experiences, I think more people should be aware of this (questionably named) shaft. UST could probably  use some help in the  aesthetics  and marketing dept but this thing for sure deserves more love and awareness on here. Would be curious to here what shafts you all would compare this line up to... thanks for reading.

How about the Lin -Q hybrid shaft? Anyone hit it?

100F4 in G410 5 hybrid 26* - played iRod and newer version iRod before

Solid shaft - holds up well to aggressive swings. On the lower side of mid IMO - SUPER smooth feeling with some kick.

It's the one shaft that held its trajectory into the wind, for my swing - no ballooning

yes, the black hybrid shaft is very good. I agree with above poster, it’s on the low end of mid launch, but not as low as my Ventus black 9tx.

It has a tight action too, does not feel loose - in x-stiff

Agree with all of those. Extremely underrated shaft.

Does anybody have any experience with the new LINQ m40x Blue, White or Red shafts yet? Curious to hear how those might differ from the TSPX line up.

I’m a UST fan but never tried the Lin-q.  However, while looking through some PGA players bags on this site yesterday I noticed a number of them were using this shaft.  Fowler was one.  Doesn’t really answer your question but it was far more use than I was expecting considering you never hear anything about them.

Not exactly.  I've tested the white and black and I think they have more feel compared to their Ventus counterparts.  Launch and spin may vary of course for each golfer.

That's because UST flies under the radar these days.  VTS Black was my favorite shaft back in the day.

I have an m40x Blue I'm looking to get rid of. Swung it about 5 times and it's not for me. Can't compare it to previous versions.

Out of curiosity, what didn't you like about M40X Blue?  Which blue did you have? TSPX version or normal one?

What do you normally or currently play?

Was a huge huge huge fan of the white m40x. Wanted to try the TSPX black so found a 6F5 for my driver and while I like it, I can’t turn it over like I can the white.

It feels more stout and linear compared to the white while still retaining feel.  Definitely the hardest to turnover outta the rest of the Lin-Q lineup.
