Rhoback is overpriced??

Tee1up4

Recommended Posts

For the record I actually really like

their stuff and have a bit of it. I have no problem spending $$ on golf stuff(my wife would confirm that lol). But as I was browsing their catalogue today I found myself thinking, “Rhoback is pretty overpriced.” Now, my thought process is, they have essentially

no presence on tour(I mean from a marketing standpoint.) The other thing about their stuff that bothers me is that any piece I have from

them the stripes printed in the back have peeled/cracked/come off with minimal wear/wash/always hang dry. Just a thought.

Their prices are pretty much in line with every other brand - Peter Millar, Stitch, Johnnie-O, H&B, and etc.

That being said I think all of those brands are overpriced yet I still keep buying them 🙄

FWIW I have a hoodie and several polos from Rhoback and I’ve never had a quality issue even after 1+ year worth of wears and washes.

My experience is that Rhoback is as others stated on Par with many brands but the difference is that the others run sales with substantial discounts and Rhoback barely

discounts their products. 20%  when companies like Travis Matthew , Peter Millar do 40-60 % off.

Case in point.....  Travis Matthew sale 50-60% off for Black Friday

I think of them as a social media brand, largely YouTube.   They pay all of the influencers to wear their stuff by mostly giving their stuff away.   They're not even in the same stratosphere sales wise with Millar and Matthew, which are large corporate entities.   They can't afford to discount much.

Yep, but those influencers eventually start their own apparel lines.

I don't want to sound like I'm discrediting them.   It's amazing what a couple of college grads did in creating the company less than 5 years ago immediately after graduating.  It's an impressive story.   But, still, it's a small business and you can't really compare it with the wide range of products offered by Millar  & TM.

no discounts on their products really turns me off.  Greyson, hell at least you can get stuff for under $50.  Spending $90 a shirt is absurd.  And I really love their stuff, some of the designs are awesome.  But no thanks to that price.

Coupons are out there. They are even listed in this forum. Up to 20% off and you can just use new emails to keep getting discount. Love their stuff

The only shirts I will pay more than $120 is for either for a Scotty Cameron (on the resale market) or a  Berckmans.

In my experience the quality is very high with Rhoback. The collar stays crisp and I have never had the heat seal stripes begin to wear. I have a few shirts that are a couple years old and are still in great shape. I have also always dried them in the dryer. Knock on wood the quality remains solid as they get more popular.

I have a hoodie and a couple of polos and I actually like their stuff quite a bit. I don't think they are "better" than some other brands I like, but their shirts just seem to fit me the best. Or at least better than most. The other shirts I tend to like (Johnnie-O, Peter Millar, etc.) don't really tend to go on sale either. I wish they made some polos without the rather large dog logo and some of their prints are pretty ridiculous. But all in all I'm a fan.

I'm pretty happy with Rhoback quality. I actually prefer their polos over PM and Greyson because of the collar. Some of their polo designs are loud but they have solids, stripes, and other standard patterns to choose from. So something for everyone's taste and style.

I have several polos, quarter-zips, and hoodies. I like their material for quarter-zips and hoodies compared to the PM ones I have. Rhoback is softer.

As for the price, I only buy when they offer a discount code, unless there's a release for a design that I REALLY wanted like the Azalea print. Some of their polos sell out quickly. But, I agree - at regular prices, it's a bit overpriced. But when companies market items for golfers, they always increase prices.

I think this is spot on. I actually like my Rhoback a bit better than h&B 1/4 zip. Polos Fit great too

Actually I am quite fun at parties.  Don't really see a correlation between spending $94 on a polo and being fun at a party.  missed on that one bud.  try again...

I can agree, the quality is good with Rhoback, Plus i like supporting a small business. They are growing and i like what the brand stands for. I would say PM has a very small presence on Tour and its catered more a luxury brand, which I have several pieces from them and Gfore. The hoodies from Rhoback are top notch as far as fit and material. PM quarter zips fit weird being loose in the arms and tight around the waist. But like with everything everyone has their own opinions. I would say Rhoback is right in line with the big brands.

This.  I think all golf clothing is over priced honestly for what it is.  FJ, Peter Millar, Johnny-O, Greyson, Rhoback, any of them.  That said I pretty much only wear shirts of these brands...  I usually just try to buy them on some what of a sale, with pro shop credit, or tell people just to get me a shirt for a Christmas/Birthday present.

Just judging people harshly for spending and extra $30 on a polo seems like you might not be a blast was all. If you don't think it's worth it that's fine but to say it's absurd is an interesting take since you could make that claim about literally anything. This is a golf website where people buy shafts that are $400 up charges for like.7 mph in clubhead speed.

If you like the designs that Greyson couldn't sell to anyone else and are discounting to get rid of good for you.  I personally think it's absurd to spend $50 on a shirt that's going to fall apart after one season as opposed to spending $90 on something that will last for 3 or 4.  To each their own.

True, but I'd suspect some of them are just rebranded Rhoback.

Personally, I'll invest my money in something other than high-dollar apparel. Looking back at my earlier life, I shake my head thinking about how I'd shell out $100+ for Lacoste polos and the like. Definitely not a good use of the limited funds I had back then.

The irony is now that I can comfortably afford that route, I go the exact opposite way. Give me some Ben Hogan specials from Walmart lol. I actually really like them. Some nice designs, they're comfortable, and hold up well. All for like $15.
