Wilson updates Staff 8802

My first set of clubs were Wilson's due to affordability and I've never looked at them again but when I saw an announcement of Wilson updating their iconic 8802, I went to the site to take a look and I was shocked at the prices of their Staff putters. $349 USD!! I was expecting 150 max (for a Wilson) and I would have picked one up just for the nostalgia but I can't justify it when I already have a Bettinardi BB2.

It's 2022 everything is more expensive and I'm not quite sure where you can find a fully milled putter for $150 new these days.

This^ The Wilson 8802 milled is a stunning putter.

It's a great feeling putter in a style no major manufacturer makes anymore - especially in the classic sense. And when you check 2nd hand markets, you'll see how well they keep their value. 

 

The non-8802's do look cheap to me in terms of the branding on the back. But apparently they shapes are Clay Long designed. 

 

The Staff is supposed to be their premium line.  Maybe they'll come out with a cheaper version of the 8802 in the Infinite line. But, unlikely.  And if it's at a sacrifice to feel, then what's the point.

Guess they're wanting to see how far they can push the envelope, charging really top dollar for a putter with absolutely no modern technology in it whatsoever. They aren't even claiming anything to differentiate this one performance-wise from your old 70's/80's/ 90's/00's era 8802. Just made from really nice...well, stainless steel.
