Swing weight should be around D2. Bubble is centered.

OK, so I did some manual weighting and even that really varies depending on how you measure exactly where the balance point it.  That 0.25 or even 0.125 inches can change swing weight or 2 depending on the total weight of the club.  Either case, my club seeing on previous photo is coming in somewhere between D3 and D5 but definitely not D7.

One other thing you could check on the swingXL is to measure and mark the shaft of an iron exactly 14" down from the grip end. The red plastic top of the middle pivot has a thin ridge that goes across it, that ridge/line should line up exactly with the 14" mark on your club when mounted to the tool.

Yes. It is 14 inch but I think the anomaly is how thick the back of the grips are.  I think that may play a factor as some grips have ticker butt end. 

 

Either case, I GIVE UP.  IT JUST DOESN'T WORK FOR ME AND VERY IN CONSISTENT.  based on my assumption, it's off by 2 swing weight. Just going to use the XL to measure consistency of the clubs vs swing weight  itself.

Yes, the end cap is thicker on some grips but that will affect the swingweight measured on every swingweight scale used since it's always measured from the very end of the grip. There are some here who say clubs should be built and matched using the swingweight measured without the grip on to get a consistent measurement. Figure out how you like the feel of the club on the range using lead tape as needed then use that as your reference.

I just checked the swingweight of a club using the manual method and it matched exactly with my swingwXL, both came to D4. Have you contacted swingw? Sounds like you may have an issue with yours that they can help you with.

I’m new to club building, tried to figure out a chart to convert the numbers on the scale to a modern swing weight and realized it would be easier if I just bought a new scale that I didn’t need to convert. Trying to figure it all out on my own.

Since this is a thread about SwingW swingweight scales it pobably wasn't the best place to post it but Kcbend is referring to an older Kenneth Smith swingweight scale that doesn't show the standard C,D,E, etc. swingweights so a conversion is needed.

Is anyone using the new version of this scale and with good results?  Really wanting to buy a swing weight scale and this is one I have been eyeing. For the purpose of my budget it's either one of these or a more traditional version from GW or GS if I can find a used one.

I bought one a couple months ago and I have only had good results. Very nice package for the price. Is it 100% accurate? 
 

Pretty close. I got clubs back from a builder and based on the seingweight on their build sheet all clubs measured within 0.2 points. Close enough for me!

I had a XL v2 first and had good results but wanted something quicker to setup as I don't leave it out all the time. Finally got the touch mini 2 and very happy with it. It measured just under half a club heavier than the scale at my local shop. I messed with the weighting so they match now, a nice feature. The part where the grip sits uses a metal bar into the hole in the grip for consistency. I asked if there was an alternative without having to put the metal bar into the grip hole and they sent a different connector that is similar to most other scales. I am very happy with it, works perfectly.

Hey, thank you so much!  I was in contact with them this morning about the differences between the Mini and the Pro.  While my "old school" mindset tells me to order a manual one from Golf Works, these seem like a very cost effective, and reliable way of getting what you need for us do-it-at-home club builders/tinkerers.  Thank you!

I bought the Pro.  It has worked great thus far.  Incredibly easy to set up, accurate to the tenth of a swing weight, and doesn't take up too much space.  Happy with the purchase for sure.

I recently purchased the Mini 2 and I love it! It is extremely easy to use and has proven itself to be very accurate based on the clubs I've measured with it so far. It made building my most recent set an absolute breeze compared to any other methods I've used in the past and you really can't beat the price!

Coming from an older swingweight I validated that the calibration was good by testing a few clubs. The swingW Pro-touch V2 swingweight could not be closer to spot on with the second measurement. 
 

For those interested I wouldn’t hesitate. I was skeptical but won’t go back due to ease of use & digital artifacts to share with the persons club I measure/build.

Anyone know how to do the factory reset on one of these.... the instructions don't make a ton of sense.   Bought the Pro touch 4

 

 To restore factory default calibration, enter mode “RESET LEFT (OR RIGHT)

 

So enter the resent left calibration screen and do what?  Back to home?   Or recalibrate just the left?

I've had mine for a while now.  I like it a lot but there are definitely some quirks about it you'll get used to once you get it.

There's something called load cell creeping.  I've talked to the designer of the product and apparently that's very normal behavior.  So once you set the club into the device and get a read out, that's pretty much it.  If you let it sit there the swing weight will continue going up which is confusing, but just know the initial read out is the correct result.
