Callaway Paradym driver - 2022 QBE Shootout

To be fair though even Callaway experienced fitters having issues fitting the TD and decided to make sure all TD heads are being with weight back now and not forward. My point is triple diamond is on such one side of the spectrum that the tour head likely fits more of the masses than the actual TD and is plently low spin especially with having endless amounts of shafts to fit for and even adjusting the front weight for spin.

Depends on the fitters philosophy, I guess.

The trend on tour right now is that everyone is lofting up and putting weight back in the Paradym models so that definitely says low spin as a foundation on the line as a whole.

Even the Fujikura velocore confusion is not their fault (they allow it, but...) - that's on the OEMs like Taylormade and Callaway, too. Fujikura can't turn down a multi-thousand QTY shaft order when a big company comes to them and says do what we say so we can sell more drivers.

I mean yes and no. It's a completely different shaft that they're allowing customers to think they're playing the same shaft they see on TV. Bad on both Fuji and TM. And Callaway with the have and have not versions is getting ridiculous. I don't expect custom work for the masses but when you see fitting videos and they go with a non available head and then tout the others, it has a car salesman cringe vibe.

At the end of the video it said Paradym Triple Diamond 9* with TR Red tipped 1". Did I miss something about him being in the tour standard head? They tested it between the models but didnt keep it?

Ahhh, interesting.  I'll go back and rewatch, but i thought they ended up in the Standard Tour head based on the results they were getting.

I 100% agree and Ive said the same thing lambasting Fuji on here multiple times previously. But money is money in business 🤷🏻‍♂️

No, he ended up with the TD, but that's the part i still don't get. His numbers with the tour head were perfect

Then I think your assumption earlier was correct because he was stripping the standard tour!!

Actually not a new trend in regard to heavier weights in back than forward.  Tour players using stuff like the OG XR SZ and OG Epic SZ were doing so with similar weights in both ports at most and that's been the case since then as product cycles came and went. Heavy forward/light back configurations sacrificed too much playability/consistency, even for ball strikers of such a high caliber.

There is a trend, however, in players being able to play with more static loft than in the past and still hit the trajectory windows they want to see. This likely plays a hefty role in the dispersion tightening that Callaway marketing has talked about. Seen that play out consistently across the fittings I've done players possessing modest or better ball striking consistency.

One thing I've noticed so far watching folks get fit for this is on videos and a few times in person is they've been told before they hit it that it's an absolute flame thrower. So they're amped up to hit it, they may even swing harder, I actually noticed that when I hit it, I was swinging outta my shoes hitting the triple diamond. When I took my gamer  sim with me the second time and made normal swings, the sim was right there with the paradym only the paradym had worse dispersion. The other thing is I've never seen more justification on poor dispersion and hearing folks and fitters saying if they make a perfect swing the driver will do its job. Really? Lol.... I dunno, maybe this is the way all driver releases go and I've just paid more attention to this one. I wonder after a season will this be the most over hyped driver in history and folks that are praying and spraying with it will go back to old faithfuls like a ping or something. Who knows. It's fun to discuss tho.

PTD is the first driver I've ever had to worry about the spin falling too low. I also love that it sits wide open and you get to see all the loft, so don't try to sub-consciously help launch.

I've never been so torn over a product, I can absolutely see the potential for this to be one of the greats and want to pull the trigger. But my head says I haven't seen enough positives yet from on course feedback and I can't see any of the out of contract players bagging one yet. More testing needed, drivers cost muchos $$$ these days but the urge is strong....

Need to put one head to head too with an LST that does not have a brick of a weight bolted onto the back of 😁

Justin Rose (free agent) won with it at Pebble. Admittedly with a model not publicly available, but it's not THAT different (face not dusted with powdered unicorn farts or anything like that).

Sam Ryder (Srixon staffer) nearly won with it at the Farmers.

Seeing it pop up in bags of non-contracted players practically every week in the Tour WITB picture threads. The demand for samples on the Tour Truck from non-staff players (free agents and staffers of competitors alike) has been unprecedented.

Obviously I'm not saying you MUST run out and plonk down $600 on one because it is your money after all; just not sure I follow the reasoning here.

FWIW, I've been able to let several players at my home club play rounds with the sample Paradym driver I fit them for, and every one of them came back raving about how good it is. Very first fitting of the year, watched as the dude counted out 1500 in cash (yes I turned it down...LOL) to let him keep the sample club because he was that geeked about what we were seeing. As more and more paying customers get their new club in hand, think its positive reputation is only going to snowball.

Only negative I can think of is I wish they'd left the carbon black, but that's merely a personal preference.

Word of caution guys. My triple diamond shaft from end of grip to end of adapter is 44.25 inches but I’m getting a playing length of just over 45 inches. I feel like in the past that would be a playing length of about 45.5. Has anyone else noticed this? I had the store swap the shaft I wanted from the paradym driver and just screw it into my triple diamond driver. Not sure if this years models are playing at different lengths but be aware

mikesgolfoutlet.com has this information on their site for what each Oems adapters will play in the heads from the shafts grip to tip measurement.

If You Attach The Following Heads To a Shaft W/ A Tip The Finished Length Will Equal:

TaylorMade - Titleist - Cobra = Add 1" To The Shaft Length
Callaway = Add 1.25"
Ping = Add 3/4"
PXG = Add 1.5"

Has anyone tried the TD head with both the hzrdus black shaft and any of the ventus shafts? I was messing around at Roger Dunn and they only had the TD 10.5° with the hzrdus black 6.0 and also the Kai’li white which I got pretty great numbers for me. I’m in a TSR3 9° with AD-UB that I was fit into by titleist and the numbers were easily better across the board with the callaway setup. Someone told me that the hzrdus black and Ventus black are very similar, but I’ve also read that hzrdus black is actually closer to a mid/mid shaft.

this is wrx so I obviously can’t go with a stock setup.

There's a tour vs retail element here for me too. I find the standard TD to still have the face look of Max which to my eye feels closed, even in the minus setting. The model Rose is using would be super interesting for me as is bound to sit a bit more open and will spin a bit lower than Standard Paradym which would be an ideal window. PTD is the one that clearly sits open as a retail offer, interesting Ryder is using it rather than Srixon. Thanks for the general feedback.

I’ve always played a 9 head with a more mid launch shaft, but going 10.5 in the TD with a low/low shaft gave me solid results.

Same went with 10.5 was in between leaving it standard and turning it down to 9.5. Both gave good results.

Round 4 and things are just getting better, I was tempted to try the heavy weight forward but why mess with success.

Yeah, maybe it's just me but I did not like the fact that they put out a Steph Curry Paradym fitting for the public to chew on, yet ended up in the "tour sauce" i.e. standard tour model that the public can't purchase.  It rubbed me the wrong way, and the way JW sort of whispered "tour sauce head" felt slimy.  I don't see the point.

I'm a fan of Steph Curry and Cally drivers....would love to get my hands on that head, but not on BST for $800.

I may have missed this in the thread, but is the general consensus that this tour head won’t be available in the Fall on CPO?

Maybe not in the fall but it’ll get there eventually. Nothing is guaranteed with tour issue stuff but id say there’s a strong chance you’ll see it on CPO by 2024.

Played my first round with the Paradym 3D yesterday and what I saw on the range continued on the course.  Weather was awful (40* and windy) but the driver consistently let me hit the straight ball and seemed much more accurate than the LTDx LS I have been using.  Drives of the day were on #1 and #18 where both were GPS measured to 321 and 309 yards which was might impressive considering the cold.

I did but I am old and slow, I imagine if you have speed and a swing you can play it where you like.
