Looks like she went from the IZ to the GT for driver.  Good move.  Also, I thought I saw a Ventus HB in her hybrid last week at the QBE Shootout.

Her hybrid is the Ping and the shaft I shot is a Venus HB

Always found it interesting that she goes with the TSR1 model.  Cleary she doesn't miss the middle of the face (or the fairway) very often.  Anybody ever heard her talk about why?

Loft on the hybrid is set at 25 and the 5iron loft is 27. Is there a reason to be so close?

What's the deal with her putter face? Did she get it re-milled for some reason (maybe light mill to a deeper milling)? Is it a different color so she can see the loft on the putter face?

Head construction (and many other variables) play a part in determining ball flight. Not all clubs of the same or similar static lofts do the same thing.

 

Ex. a 5 wood and a 1 iron can have the same loft. But, they have very different ball flights.

 

Work backwards from ball flight and whatever static loft works, should be what you go with.

Since I shot her WITB this morning right before she teed off in the Pro-Am and there weren't any TM clubs in the bag, I can safely say she's not playing TM irons.  Not saying she didn't hit one.

Wonder if she moved to the GT to combat higher spin in the new TSr1 vs the TSi1. She had stiff handle shafts in her woods like the Tensei Blue and Ventus Red so moving to a stiff handle in the driver makes sense especially if they needed to shave some spin off with the TSr1 move. But sad to see the IZ go from another pro's bag.

I remember seeing a video a while ago where she talked about her initial fitting at Titleist in California when she went on board with them and it was something along the lines of her just hitting is so insanely straight every single time and thats all she needed - and then won with it the following week - so it never left the bag.

Looks like the hybrid is lofted down as well. The small minus on Ping is -1 I think?

I love Nelly’s bag.  Very similar make up to what I like to play with the 4 wood and 7 wood.  Even uses the “1” like I do!

 

Is she a high or low spin player?  The “1” gives a little more spin I think so perhaps she just gets better numbers with it.  The fact she players a higher loft 3 wood (a 4 wood) might also suggest she hits it best with a little more spin.  I’m sure there are some people on here with fitting experience who would be better placed to comment than me, though.

 

I like the fact she is with Titleist but there is a small part of me that misses her old mixed brand bags.  She had some great combinations.

I had simply heard from someone fairly in the “know” that one of the large companies was trying to sign her….figured it was Callaway or TM

Indeed, I game the IZ in my current setup and love it. But in terms of pros using Graphite Design it seems they lean heavily towards the DI.
