Q golf club 11-in-1

I have no affiliation with this company, I simply saw the James Robinson video and thought it was interesting since I often play with 6-8 clubs and a Sunday bag. 

 

 

Curious about everyone's thoughts, would you game one of these for a twilight nine or a casual round with friends?

 

Obviously, some length limitations because it won't go as far as a driver or 3w but might be doable from 6000 yards. 

 

It might also be cool in a 3 club bag with a Driver and your favorite putter. 

 

Personally, I think it's a little expensive but would probably do very well at around $200 especially for new golfers just learning.

I have a 70's super stick which I sometimes game (not too difficult to hit and adjustment though fiddly quite quick once you get used to it).

Considering treating myself (70th coming up) to a more modern Q club.

Would welcome any user feedback.

Well I got one and played it yesterday.

Very easy to hit. Quite like hybrid irons.

The putter setting takes a bit of getting used to especially for lag putts.

Didn't have much success with the 11 degree "stinger" setting and the 17 degree "hybrid"  setting looks a little daunting for an iron but is ok off a tee.

My only gripes are that compared to the super stick there are limited loft settings especially for mid irons. The super stick goes up in 3 degree implements and the Q in 6 degrees. Also on the Q there are only markings for each 12 degree increment and at first a little fiddly to find the intermediate setting. Also unlike the super stick is not telescopic. Probably easier to hit than the super stick, though I also find the super stick ok.

The Q comes in some fancy tube for transporting but a bit useless really. Would have been better if they replaced this  with a simple pencil bag with room for a water bottle and balls..or even a head cover. 

Or nothing and cut the price.

Although , I got my super stick some time ago very cheaply I noticed that on eBay people are asking about the same price or more than the Q.

At $300 it's a bit much. If the price comes down I'd be in for one. It would be nice to walk a round in the evenings with just 1 club!

I played with the Q again the other day at a course only play occasionally.

Initially they would not let me play as only had one club ...after a bit of too and throwing and showing the settings especially the putter one they relented.

However was later challenged by a green keeper as had no bag and had to show the receipt for my round.

The other thing to note is that I could it very difficult to use from the bunkers...probably a technique issue in my part.

Otherwise went round quite well ...bought extra balls just in case but started and ended with the same one!

These are currently on sale on Amazon for $200.  I got one to try out and if works out then I could see carrying this with a putter, sand wedge and mini driver.  4 clubs in a very lightweight sunday bag able to play full round on regular length course, but equally capable for a 3-par course or twilight round after work.

So I've played this off and on a few times since and my initial take is it's OK as a mid and short iron, and also manageable as a putter (just takes getting used to having to choke down a lot and how it looks from the top), it's OK as a hybrid, but a struggle to use as a wedge on tight lies.  There's a lot of bounce on the sand and low wedge settings which is ok from greenside rough and fluffy sand, but its too much at times so I've usually tended to use one of the lower lower loft settings with less bounce and play a shorter swing or open the clubface some.  Its not a replacement for a full or half set, but as something to keep in the office or the car for a spur of the moment game its a nice to have. I have mostly played it accompanied with just a 56 degree low bounce wedge and no other clubs in a small sunday bag for a very light carry.

What is more intriguing is they introduced a gen 2 version with a shaft that can be separated so the club can go into a suitcase.  It has 8 settings vs 11 for the gen 1 - which I think was overkill anyways.  Will likely have to check this out as previously the only fully portable club that was even remotely usable had a telescoping shaft and mixed reviews.
