Trent Wearner has some of his associates working out of Legacy Ridge and Walnut. They do small 3-4 person multi week group lessons starting up again in the spring for beginners that would probably be perfect for him. https://trentwearnergolf.com/group-programs-adults/

If he's really serious about getting great, Ed Oldham at The Ranch and Dan Sniffin at Omni are always in the list of top CO instructors.

So I picked up a HackMotion for Christmas. Thankfully my wife knows that this is something I want to use now to improve my game so I was able to order it last week. Thank god she's a golfer so I was able to get the pro version since I know people are going to want to use it to improve on the sim all winter.

My biggest issue has always been club face control but since I started working with Ed Oldham several years ago he made it very apparent how open I was at the top, causing a flip at impact to square it up. I got really good at it, but that kind of timing move can't be very consistent. It has taken me since then (about three years) to get consistent with the new moves, but I had some really ugly weeks this year where the habit I had for years decided to come back and make me hate golf.

So hey, if you want a golf lesson using the latest tech (GCQ and Hackmotion) come on over. I might even start scheduling out people with the director of golf at Fox because he's a solid instructor as well.

I'm super pumped to hit some golf balls with it today and see how much it can help me stabilize my club face throughout my golf swing.

I'll second Dan. He helped one of my friends get to a +8 / turn professional

Looking for beginner/new golfer instructor suggestions in North Denver for my girlfriends brother. He's been to top golf and the driving range a few times but has no fundamentals, etc.

The closest course to his house is Thorncreek which seems to have a few instructors on their website, but if anyone has a person they think would be great with a beginner up north I'd apreciate ideas!

Keith Martin at Twin Peaks has taught some amazing amateurs over the years. I'm not sure if it's his instruction or the golf courses but a lot of Longmont natives populate the best Amateurs in CO. It's probably a drive for you but I'm sure his programs are also much cheaper than Ed or Dan's.

I've known Keith Martin for years, dating back in the mid 90s.  He's a terrific instructor and a really good guy.  I wouldn't hesitate going to him for a lesson, or a series of lessons.

And?  You just going to leave us hanging on how it went  🤣

If I compare it to the recommended/most pros I definitely close my clubface at the top too much. Most pros stay extremely stable on the way up and I picked up flexion on the way up and was 7-10 degrees more closed at the top than I was at address. This was news to me, though it fits with exactly what I was working on, which was being closed on the way down and my debate about closing it on the way up when I have more time to do so, allowing me to basically stay the same on the way down and be square.

However, after spending just a little it of time working on it the very next day Jeremiah came over (BT Supe) to hang and practice and I fixed my flexion at the top, but I was still closing the club face on my way to parallel and then opening it up from parallel to the top to match my address position. For the next month+ for the full swing I'll be working on stabilizing my flexion on the way up and then "motorcycling" it better on the way down to keep my clubface more stable overall.  Attached is a graph of the data from one of my swings on the second day. I can get into more details about it and what I've learned but it takes a lot more typing and info for people that might not be interested. If you are, just lmk and I'll write a bit more about it.

EDIT: As soon as I posted this I figure I should explain a bit, LOL. The main axis of focus is the green one as that has the most prominent effect on your club face. I'm working to try to get my flexion/extension which is the solid line to match the dotted line you see here. It will never be exact, but if I can match the pattern consistently over time my overall club face control will improve drastically.

So on the first day, that dip in the graph you see on the way up to the top actually continued down and would recover somewhat, but once I hit the top it would still be in the 0* range. In the meantime to train myself to get better I'm going to use the audio feedback and spend a bunch of my practice time slow swinging my backswing to flatten out this graph on my way to the top. Once that gets more solid/consistent I'll start working on stabilizing this drop you see from the top to impact via slow and partial swings to train my hands to "motorcycle" the club on the way down.

Hahahahah as an engineer you lost me ...  🤣   JK...but not really

I assume based on the chart you want the solid lines to match up with the dashed lines?  I am hypothesizing based on the start lines all matching up / overlapping at address.

The rotation is the one that jumps out to me.  If the dashed lines are the goal it seems they have a longer release more roated release? Is that based with a goal it hold the face square longer......OR.... ...is that rotation based on a obtaning a faster release Ie: turning the club over more.....?   which I know for me would be snap hook  hahahaha

Intreseting for sure.......

Yeah.... it can be hard to understand what is happening because each line is an axis your wrist can move on and since we can move all three they definitely relate to each other. The green however is the most important one as it has the most effect on the club face.

To answer your question directly, the difference in the rotation has a lot to do when the finish that I've been working on, which I thought was making my club face more stable through impact. Overall the differences in the rotation are compensated for my the differences you see in the extension and ulnar deviation. That doesn't mean it's the right thing to do as everything before impact is much more important to me at this time.

Basically: piece it out

Unless you currently have a very old driver, I'd hold off on buying a new driver till the new lower spinning ball has been out for a year (assuming this ruling stands) or at least plan on buying another one. A lot of these low spin drivers today aren't going to be able to generate enough spin at amateur swing speeds with the new ball to reach optimum launch and spin conditions.

I really wish some of you guys would move to northeast Florida so that the Florida regional group would be more active.  I love the Colorado chapter as this group is simply the best group socially of all.  I miss Colorado golf (between mid-April through September/mid October) but more so the camaraderie shared by this group.  I am now relegated to lurker status since I moved but love reading the posts.  Now will someone, or few, move to Florida!!!  😁

At least I'll be visiting every spring and fall! Sorry I forgot to call in October....

I had @jda neighbor invite me to Buffalo Run for a $25 round. Boy I don't miss playing there. Great design tee to green but good lord conditions are awful.

At least it's golf in December. Fox Hill finally opens tomorrow!!!  Thankfully the snow totals in the forecast went down for Friday. Next week doesn't look great but at least the courses won't be covered in snow. Cart cover and heater looks to be in order late next week.

Random side note: If you're a fan of whiskey my favorite and rare bottle of "Midwinter Night's Dram" is still available in the Brighton Daveco liquor store nearby the course. I already grabbed three bottles as it's only the second time I've been able to buy it retail.

Extra bad this year because they didn't finish the irrigation project with enough time for the new grass to grow in in the remaining spots where the salt deposits aren't killing it

No worries!  It's been a very busy year for business so I haven't played golf since April and only hit balls once (last weekend).  New house tasks added to the hiatus for golf.  Business is slowing down for the 4th/1st quarter and house tasks are done.  That means golf and some casual cycling.  Looking forward to getting together this Spring.

I don't know if I'd wait that long....it's supposed to go into effect when, 2028 for pros and 2030 for everyone else?  If you buy a new driver every 5-6 years anyway I think you've got one more left in you before that change.

I'm stubborn. I need to see something very meaningful to get me to buy a new one so it's usually 10 years or so

I have the perfect driver for this- Taylormade mini burnder, 11.5 degrees. Thing is super fun to hit. Bring back the small heads!

I was hitting balls last weekend at Palm Harbor Golf Club in my new home town of Palm Coast, Florida and found two of these in the bucket of balls.  This was the first one.  The second one was in better condition so I kept it.  Golf Gods trying to tell me something?  😆

These didn’t come from me.  Apparently there are others from Fort Collins who moved here and distributed these.  Maybe a few more fellow Coloradoans can move here and we can get the Northeast Florida chapter going.  😁

I get it.  I used to feel the same way until I visited the northeast coast.  While Jacksonville and Daytona Beach aren't my cup of tea, I really do like St. Augustine and the Palm Coast area.  As much as we enjoy St. Augustine we would never live there because of the tourist activity.  Palm Coast is quite a bit slower in pace (which we love) and doesn't have the tourist activity St. Augustine and Daytona Beach has.  Having Flagler Beach close by adds to the "Old Florida" vibe as well.  Most people think of Florida and think of the Orlando area, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale or inland rural areas.  This is what I used to think which made Florida not a consideration.

That said, summers (between June and September) are hot months up here but it quickly cools off in mid October through mid May which makes these 7 months ideal.  Hopefully we all find the places where we love to live and make the best of it as we can.  However, this group of golfers is terrific and one of the things I do miss moving to Florida.
