Clubs4cash-sharing an experience

Take this how you will. I'm just sharing an experience I had with the dealer that pretty much ended any future dealings with them for me. For starters, I've made a few purchases from this place and never had any issues.

Here is the story. Order a set of i59 irons, 4-PW for $919. Received them Saturday and they are in great shape. No issues. Haven't hit them yet as I am battling a hand injury and scheduling surgery shortly. Overall, the i59's look great, but I really wished I would have pulled the trigger on some blueprints instead. Clubs4cash has a set I was interested in 4=PW for$889 on their site. I figure I'll contact them to see if it is possible to do an exchange straight up. Of course I'd pay shipping for both. It was worth a shot and the worst that could happen would be they'd say no. That would have been fine. What I did get was give me a few minutes and I'll call you back. I did receive a call back and was told a few things.  First was we usually don't take returns. That part is fine. I was prepared for that. Next I was told that after doing some research, they sold a set of similar blueprints for $1400 recently and the ones I was looking at exchanging for should be priced higher. I was then told that I could sell back the i59's for $300. Lastly, they would honor the posted $889 price since it was on the site currently but no exchange. I mean seriously, a simple no would have been fine. The other stuff just seems very suspect. Biggest thing was the we'll buy them back for $300. and then or you could give us another $900 for blueprints and keep the i59's as well. Just left a bad taste. Plenty other places out there, YMMV.

Wow , that's some pretty gruesome tactics. I'd tell them to pound sand.

It's kind of an annoying request to receive as a business. You want them to facilitate a shipping and receiving process, so they can make $0?

If they did this often, they'd probably quickly go out of business.

But, like you said, they should have just said No.

Just looking at their website, there are plenty of better options to buy from out there imo.

You’re saying they’d go out of business taking in exchange or return that hasn’t been played by the buyer? Not accepting returns from a store would steer me In another direction. Who doesn’t accept returns this day in age if the product is in the same condition as it was received? Obviously Clubs4Cash.

I think it's more complicated than that.

First, they have no idea if you've actually used the clubs you purchased or not. You can say you haven't, but they have no way of knowing that for sure until they could get them back and fully inspect them (even then there really isn't any way to prove you didn't use them).

Second, even though you offered to pay for shipping they are still having to set aside resources to accept your return shipment, inspect the clubs you sent back, relist them, pack up the new clubs, and ship those out all without making a single $.

All that is to say they could have just told you they don't do exchanges and left it at that. Adding in all of that other stuff makes the whole thing seem a bit shady. FWIW it says you can return your order at your own shipping costs within 10 days of receiving it...

It's exactly that though, nothing more, nothing less. Common business practices for an online retailer, but I wasn't aware they offered a 10 day return policy. I will eat my crow.

OP - If they offer 10 day return policy , why didn't you do that?

I could find no info regarding their return policy. I was only trying to do an even exchange with me paying for shipping for the return and the other set, which by the way, was priced 30 bucks less so I would have been out the additional 30 as well. It really wasn't a complicated ask. It was that ridiculous alternatives that were offered that blew my mind. No would have been fine. I've moved on at this point.
