Srixon XV

How would the XV play for someone with low to mid 90s SS? I've played every srixon except XV. I do like a little higher ball flight because I have a bit lower LA. I've been playing diamond but feel it's short off Tee for me. But I don't get to concerned about off Tees (even though I would like a little more distance). I do like a ball that spins well within 140 yds and around the greens. I would go with the Z star but I'm afraid it may be short off Tee as well. Anyone with XV experience help me out?

The XV is their low spin ball so you may find trouble holding the greens at times or lacking short game spin. I liked the ball except for that and preferred the Diamond over it.

I've been playing the Diamond but found it to be short off the Tee. But we will see

The XV is longer but you lack that short game spin. The Diamond is not short by any means at least from my experience.

This is the thing with every ball you have to take what works best and maybe lack in certain areas. But for me I'd definitely take more short game spin if I lose a bit off the tee.

Another thing I don't like about the Diamond is I play yellows and Diamond is not in Yellow and I don't think the 2023s will be in yellow either. If the XVs don't work out I will probably just go with Reg Z stars

If Srixon is updating the Diamond they should have a yellow in the new model. No reason to make the old model in yellow if it was being updated.

They are coming out with a new Diamond 2/7/23 but again it's only in white No Yellow which I just do not understand. The other 2 z series are in Yellow but Diamond is not.

Well had a chance to play the XV for 9 holes today in 65° weather here in SC. Course was VERY soft lots of rain previously. Anyway so far I'm really digging this Ball! I felt distance for me was a little longer than the Diamond on my good swings. The ball is firmer feeling for sure which I didn't mind, around the greens I felt as if I could check it up just as good as the diamond or any other tour ball I've played for that matter. Where It really shined I thought was Irons nice High Long ball flight. Usually hit my 7i 145 today I had a couple 150-155 so I felt this is probably the best ball I've played so far and will likely stick to it this season. This is the previous model NOT the 2023.

2023 version should be pretty sweet.  3 piece change should make it feel softer like the diamond and its supposed to have slightly more spin.

Yeah but I believe after using the previous model, I'll  stick with it especially if 2023 is similar to the Diamond. I don't like the Diamond

Going to try the XV when I make it back to the course.. I don’t mind losing a few yards off the tee if it’ll hold greens. I’ve become addicted to spin since playing balls that do.. I can’t live without it now but it seems like any non-premium just doesn’t provide the same spin premiums do. Srixon being less money is something I need to look at.

The XV is one of my favorite balls.  I don't feel like I am sacrificing any distance off the tee with them and they give me great spin off of my irons.  Every bit as good as the prov1x in my eyes.  At least for my game.

The few people I know who play them love them as well. More than half my bag is Srixon I’ve just never tried the balls.

Yeah had a chance to play it again today. The XV is very legit! It is definitely longer for me even though I have a low 90s SS. It just seems to hang in the Air much longer than what I've been playing. I may not can get it to spin quite as much as others but not enough that bothers me at all I don't mind just a little Check then Roll. And some of our greens are Very Fast but I still like it to roll out to the hole. I've never been one to fly a chip or pitch to the hole and watch it slam on brakes. So this ball so far is doing Everything I love in a ball. I stayed away from it for long time thinking my SS wasn't enough for it but all that is a myth anyway.

Sometimes they’ll run a Father’s Day buy one get one. Or buy two get one. Keep an eye out.

I was buying the previous gen xv from Walmart for $25 a dozen for most of last year too. Check there maybe too to see if they have them yet. If you don’t mind playing a gem old that is.

The one I'm playing is the prior Gen. I got them for 34.97dz. I was paying that for the QST before I decided to give the XV a try.

It’s annoying  that only Bridgestone has a speed limitation on their balls. My speed is a lot less than 105 and the XV and TP5X work great to reduce spin. Tried the RXS and it was terrible for putting because of the softer feel.

I agree I think these Ball companies should Do away with all the Swing Speed Crap cause it means absolutely nothing when choosing a Ball.

The RXS is the lowest compression and most spin ball in their range.  This is one to stay away from if you wish to reduce your spin.  Hope this helps.

Just another little update on the XV. I'm 2 sleeves in and it's just a Great Ball regardless of what your SS is. I'm around 95 (250-260yds total) and this ball just flat out performs. Where it Lacks for me is around the greens but I simply adjust and make it work. Last 3 rounds I've had 38,38,37. I did get some Pro v1x to compare just to see if the v1x has more greenside spin. But just not so sure I can go away from the Z Star XV! The thing just carries. Irons just hangs in the Air. I feel as I get the Max distance out of my irons now over the Softer Balls. I never played an X model ball due to the SS pitch these companies have, but I've found out that does not matter with balls cause even. Slower SS player can benefit greatly by using an X model ball. The XV feels great, others have said it's hard I do not find that to be true, I love the feel of it actually and I've always love the softer balls but that is no more. If the V1x doesn't work out I will definitely be sticking to the XV for sure!

Does anyone have any comparisons between Srixon Z-star, Z-star XV and Pro Vx? Essentially, looking for more launch and spin throughout the bag. Generally, I'm a good ball striker, use blades, play to single digit and have a higher swing speed ~110.

Until last year I was using the 2019 Pro Vx and wasn't real keen on the feel most of all, so switched back to the original/softer Srixon Z-star which I used previously. However, although I could hold greens the flight was very low for me from about 6i up through 3 wood and I just never saw the high ball flights I am used to and prefered with the Pro Vx.

Late last year tested the Srixon XV and loved the feel of it compared to the Pro Vx and Z Star for that matter (too soft). However, my testing was limited to a sleeve in colder weather, but liked what I saw for the most part.

Does anyone know if this ball is supposed to launch higher and spin more throughout the bag compared to original Z Star and how close is it to Pro Vx flight and spin wise throughout the bag?

The XV is definitely a higher launch ball or for me it was, that's one thing I liked about it but it's not too high. I did try the New V1x And it wanted to balloon on me so it was definitely more higher than I wanted so I'm not a fan of it. And really not a fan of Titleist but the previous Vx1 to me is Better than this new one. But as for the XV it is a flat out winner for me and previous models can be had for 35dz all day. As for the 2023 XV I haven't tried it and probably won't because I love the prior model and like I said it's 35dz. I will be playing it for a long time.
