Serious question. If you played 7 events against players of the same skill level as you and you finished a combined 147 shots behind your friends that won those 7 events would you consider your play atrocious? Thats the level of play Kim is at.

Does this include the Asian Tour event where he missed the cut by 8 and was 15 back after R2?

 

At the Miami event he was +21 after 3 rounds. Honestly, if there was a PGAT guy who was playing this bad but flanting his private plane and stuff on social, we'd be killing him.

If he had been playing competitive golf, absolutely, but considering what he has been through and where he has been over the past twelve years, I would not call his play atrocious, disappointing, but not atrocious.

It does not. Just the exhibition tour events. He was near dead last after the cut in that Asian Tour event. Missing the cut by 15 in that event mirrors how bad his play is. Completely agree with your last statement especially when people here go out of their way to criticize the current worlds dominant golfer.

If I took 12 years off from my job I would be lost or I would very rusty. With that being said LIV has some serious players Major Champions and if you think a few events he should be in the top ten noway. I watched the youtube video of him playing the first couple events and his proximity from the hole compared to the top five was none existent. I will state a mountain is climbed one step at time. He should play more Asian tour events if he is serious in a come back.

 

Would never rip someone trying to come back to this tough sport. We have seen some great players shoot some big numbers in the past month.

I hear what youre saying. But thats the thing - he's not serious. He's not working and he wasn't "trying to come back". By all accounts he had played *no* golf until Greg called and handed him a pile of money. Thats not attempting a comeback, its sitting around doing nothing and waiting for a big payday. His stats are horrific - he's actually ranked 57th in some categories - which is tough when only 54 players tee it up every week.

 

Again, if this was...Ben Curtis - who won a major and has more wins than AK - if Ben Curtis was tooling around like this, the same people in this thread would be *screaming* for him to get relegated out of LIV.

 

I'll say what I've said all along - good for him. He found a way to provide for his family, every one of us would have done the same. But lets not pretend this is anything other than what it is.

I'm going to disagree, sure his numbers haven't been great, but teeing it up in a pro event and shooting even par (last week) given his absence isn't bad. He was always a gifted talent so he can adjust and improve quickly. My prediction is all results this year will be poor, but if he keeps at it and comes back next year he can be competitive. He said he is 1000% confident he is going to be playing good golf so he just needs the practice rounds to translate to competition. Now if he is dead last this time next year might be a mountain to tall to climb.

I honestly cant believe there are people that believe this. If you do, I think you drastically under estimate how good even the middle of the road players are on LIV. 

 

AK isnt a shot away. He hasnt had one bad putt go astray or one bad bounce. He's 15, 20, *30* shots away. Honestly right now you pull a random scratch player off the street - they have just as good a chance as he does of winning. And for all the offseason "work" you think he'd put in - which I absolutely dont believe - all the guys above him are working too.

 

Listen I was dead wrong about this, I thought he would be better off grinding it out if he wanted to come back. But he cant do that because he cant play at this level. He came back to get one final payday for his family - and I 100% would have done the same in his position.

It's sad to see that he doesn't have it in the end, but it's not surprising. Would have been nice if he'd handled the opportunity better by simply taking the positives that came his way and not making himself look the fool with the shots he took at Chamblee. No doubt he made the smart move in taking the payday over grinding when he has no game left but by all appearances he's killed any shot at building on this much beyond however long they let him keep playing.

Kim should be proud of himself, he gave the 54League a bump in attention and was instrumental in raising the ratings with his feel good story.

 

The 54League is starving for attention and Kim gives them that. They owe Kim, big time....                   IMO

He’s steadily improving and his major issue has been finishing off rounds 

 

Coming from further back than Lazarus as he’s confirmed on social media that he had a serious drug habit that resulted in hospitalisation, rehab etc in the not so distant past

I dunno if I’d call what he’s done steadily improving just yet.  His stats are pretty awful for any competitive golf association, much less a professional one.  I’m not rooting against him, but let’s be realistic; he’s 39 years old and hasn’t played professional golf for eons.  I don’t think it’s likely he’ll ever be a competitive professional golfer again in this lifetime.  If he does pull it off, that would be a massive accomplishment worthy of respect.  Just getting his life together deserves respect, though he’d likely get more if he showed more to others as well.

There's absolutely nothing you can point to quantitatively to show that he's been improving - at all. His stats are awful and its basically considered a success if he's not DFL. Some stats showed him as 56th or 57th - and only 54 guys tee it up every week.

Personally, I'm kind of done with the guys' personal story at this point. I dont care if he's had a tough life. A *lot* of guys fighting to make it on PGAT/KFT/DPWT have tough personal stories and if you heard them you'd want them to have a chance too. The difference is, those guys can actually play tournament level golf.

 

Its getting tiring to hear various flavors of "hey the guy's had a tough life the last couple years therefore he should be entitled to free millions of dollars for showing up and finishing last". At some point, you have to prove it on the field.

 

But I look forward to his next social media post on his private jet with his 6 figure watch LOL.

He played Asian Tour event (International Series Macau) this season that had a 2nd round cut. He nearly finished last after the cut. Of the players that finished two rounds he beat only five of them. Missed the cut by 8 shots. Field was 144 players.
