He’s definitely improving 

 

Naturally, AK’s biggest problem was lack of reps so it’s no surprise that things like general fitness/ability to close out a round was a weakness but that’s coming around 

 

He’s an unconventional guy but if I was advising him, I would be suggesting that he finds some tournaments to play in the off season

No questions, but I saw a social media post about his finish in the event moved him up something like 2500 spots in the OWGR. 

 

I always find it funny when someone has an ok finish at a not particularly big event, and they just rocket up the standings.  There is like 5000 pro golfers all separated by less than a single T37th place finish. 

 

Edit: He earned 0.368 points, and went from 4595 to 2314.

A WITB would be cool.  What old Nike clubs does he still have knocking around the garage.  Gearhead stuff, things of that nature.

Did he have a definition for what makes up "success" this year - or next. 

 

Just staying healthy and taking care of the family financially or does he have playing goals.

Didn’t peak too much into the bag but he’s gaming Titleist irons and a callaway driver. Didn’t see any Nike clubs.

Part of me watching him was like the movie Hook. At times it was like “he’s forgotten everything” not literally but the short putts weren’t good albeit the greens here are the worst I’ve ever seen. 
 

Drove it fairly well, missed some both ways, irons were inconsistent. The short game is what you would expect for such a long layoff. At times he hit some chips that were prime AK. 
 

He had some fire in him which shows he cares so that was cool to see.

I didnt talk with him much. I don’t normally bother other players, but given so many unknowns about AK had he played a little better I would have asked 1/2 questions 

 

He’s got 2 more years with LIV so I’d say regaining some of his game from the past would be a start. I think being an independent in the league is good for him because there’s a little less pressure at this point to perform.

Adam Porzak put up an Instagram post of AK swinging on the range - not sure if Porzak is working with him right now.  AK's swing looks really close to how it did when he was younger. LIV aside, it would be good to see him play well again.

He's an ongoing PR stunt - nothing more. He was ranked 50-54th in most stat categories last year and in most events he wasn't even close. 15-20 strokes off the lead, fighting against DFL.

 

And whenever people criticize him, the pushback is always the same. "WELL, HE WOULD KILL YOU AT GOLF". Yeah? No kidding, well, I would sure as hell hope so.

 

But he's just a stunt at this point.

 

And frankly, I'm fine rooting against him. His social media gets filled with so much vile hate - that he's proud of - that I am absolutely OK rooting against him. His right to be that way and good for him, he's grabbing all the free cash he can without having to do a single thing to earn it.
