I’ll give him more time; he did have it going back in the day so we know he had it in him. But I just wonder if LIV was the best league for him since there is little incentive to really work at your craft or risk losing your card.

But at what point "did he have it" too long ago? Heck guys that had it a couple years ago fall off the map and are never heard from again. He's what 15 years removed from being good? 15?

LIV was perfect for him as I think he just wanted/needed the cash. No real interest in getting back on tour.

AK is not a professional golfer. He’s got 7 finishes in the 50s in 17 LIV events and only 2 finishes inside the top 40. He needs to be cut loose.

Been a while since I have been on this thread but man, LIV really need to cut him loose. They took a gamble by giving him a chance but it really hasn't worked out well. He is clearly trying to get better but he is light years away it seems.

 

I suspect they will cut him loose at the end of this year and he will go back off in to the sunset. That or some kind of media job like Perez.

He's been an absolute and total train wreck. I think they thought he would bring this huge PR bump which clearly he did not.

 

And honestly, I'm tired of the "he's working hard, he's grinding on his game" story line. One, its clear he's not improving and two, I dont care at this point. Every guy out there has a "story" behind them. I watched the PGA Pro final round, every one of those guys has a great story. So...cut him loose and try again. 

 

Even if you wanted to try and take LIV seriously when you look at the bottom of the leaderboard every week, its really, *really* tough.

He’s in the drop zone right now and unless he magically starts playing better, AK’s gonna need to go to the promotion’s event to earn his spot back.

Somehow A. Kim retained his wildcard after his poor 2024 season. He finished 56th out of 57 players. The 57th ranked player only played 3 events.

 

He scored 0 points and had a best finish of 36th in a LIV event.

Good for AK taking the money with nothing to lose seeing if he still has what it takes to play golf professionally. Obviously, it's just not there and I do not see his game improving to even try to qualify for any tour.

 

I do not know all the details in his life, but maybe the money he received from LIV can help with past involvements and a future for his family.

 

As he has found out, golf is hard but life is harder, and as a human, I root for him with his daily struggles and hope nothing but the best for him and his family personally.

 

Thank you AK for the memories, it was fun watching you play.

I'm assuming that Anthony Kim was smart enough to at least sign a two-year contract plus a signing bonus...

 

Signing as a wildcard gave him time to hone his game. IMO

Early on I thought he should have gone the Tour route with the grind that entailed, but like everyone else I saw he had zero chance of that after his first events. He's used to a certain lifestyle and doesn't seem to have much in the way of other high level skills developed so I can't blame him milking this while he could. Shame that time, life, and poor choices seem to have killed the talent he once showed but I don't hate that it's one more ornament on the tree of foolishness LIV planted a few years back. Simply more proof it's not to be taken seriously.
