I enjoy listening to music on the course, but I make sure to keep the volume to where it can only be heard if you’re standing right next to my push cart. Even with that, I always ask everyone in our group if they mind. If anyone objects, I gladly turn it off. I only want to hear it while walking, not during my swing, so it’s low enough that I don’t hear it even when only a few yards away. And I can also carry on a conversation if someone is walking with me.

 

I played with a young pair last week - a brother and sister 2some - who asked me if I’d turn it up. I declined because they were rarely close enough that they’d be able to hear it unless I really turned it up.

My experience is high-end daily fee (public) or resort courses often have far more rules than many privates. There are some privates that basically have no rules at all! Hey, it all depends on what the membership wants.

 

Back to this situation, look, you want weed so loud you’ll have the clouds spelling out words, faces in the trees talking to you, and the cup moving around at your club, I actually don’t have a problem with that, but it better be during off hours when the course is not busy. Getting that FUBAR in an event is not cool. At least the weed doesn’t make people want to fight.

For me it's 2 or 3 puffs on each 9 and I am walking a good distance from my playing partner's when it's ignition time so not to bother them with the pungent smell. I play better lightly stoned. I'm more relaxed and it improves my focus and concentration.

Slight envy here! I’ve tried, believe me, and I just can’t play good golf. But maybe my stuff is too loud…I’ll make another attempt and report back. 😁

You are on to something there MS. You need to search out a strain that enhances your game not makes you feel uncomfortable. When I go shopping for green I get three different strains that serve three different purposes. For golf I look for a low to medium low THC content. I also make sure it is an indica dominant strain. I say sample a few spices and I bet you find something that is better than what you currently have.  Another tip, on extremely hot days I quite often leave the joint in the golf bag. I've found that getting  baked in the heat while playing can add to the sluggishness that you are already getting from the hot air you are playing in.

Rather than go out in the heat and practice I decided to spend some time this afternoon on my practice putting mat indoors. Doing this should help me tomorrow for the "Rematch" at CCA. There is a 50% chance for afternoon storms so I have to be ready once again for a weather interruption. Let's hope the storms if they do happen don't put a premature end to our round like they did last week.

My envy is that you guys have legal means of acquisition! As a teen, I used to dream of being able to walk into a store and buy weed. Not gonna happen here anytime soon.

Recreational green is not legal in NC Triple Lindy. It's just that I live in hippie and artsy Asheville where 50% of the population gets high so the sources here are pretty much offering the packages and flowers from other places where it is legal. I doubt anyone here is getting busted for a small possession like they could in TX.

It’s actually more lax here than you might think, at least in DFW. Possession up to 2 ounces is a misdemeanor. Denton is kind of our hippie town (primarily a college town that’s been swallowed up as DFW has expanded) and it’s only 20-25 minutes from my house. I’m sure there are plenty of sources there and everywhere around me if I took the time to look. But legally, New Mexico is the closest source and that’s an 8 hour drive to the nearest dispensary - right across the border as you might expect. Big billboard as you cross the state line coming back with a cop in sunglasses saying “You’re now a felon!” 😅

 

It would be sweet to have a place to go to talk to someone about different strains, as you mention above.

... So much going on in the Lounge! My back has been an issue for several weeks and swinging like crap. Just can't get my body to cooperate as it seems to want no part of a smooth transition and doesn't want any separation between hips and shoulders. Frustrating but I realize it could be soooo much worse so no complaints. We played Whirlwind today, the same course I watched Nelly, Patty and Jeeno play a few months ago and didn't keep score. My good bud is headed to NoCal and a tournament with an old pard, then over to Tahoe for another big tourney and he had an off day too, not keeping score either. It was hot today with no breeze.

... Music is something I didnt like when I was working all the time, but now that I have so much free time I enjoy acoustic classic rock on the course. Like TL and others it is very low and can only be heard if you are next to me. But I don't wanna hear someone else's country or rap or the worst ever, one guy was playing show tunes. 😱 And why anyone would listen to a podcast or sporting event is just beyond my ability to comprehend. I am also 100% OK with no music. 

... Can't get high and play at all. The opposite of LP I lose my focus and my brain goes everywhere but where I need it to be. And the opposite of LP too, I prefer a Sativa strain when in public as I find it brain stimulating with little to no physical effects. I save Indica for late night when I want to relax physically. I also have several hybrid strains I really like with the best of both worlds but leaning more toward Sativa. I am also 100% edible.

... While I am old school and prefer to tuck in my shirt, it just isn't feasible in the desert heat. The last thing I want is trapping my body heat so most everyone here is untucked all summer long. Once it drops below 90* it is tucked in til next summer. I had to buy new shorts with a shorter tail a few years ago. I also wear sandals from May to October, even in nice restaurants and the only socks my feet see is wearing golf shoes.

I stumbled across a TV show last night and watched it for about 15 minutes.   It was a reality show and was in Texas.  The police pulled a guy over and arrested him for having marijuana in his car.  I'm going, "What the hell"... and then I realized it was Texas.  Not Washington or Colorado or many others today.  So LP, are there issues in N.C.?  Does it worry you when you roll a joint, or is it a matter of "Enough for personal usage"?

After I got my leg chopped off it automatically qualfied me for medical marijuana.  I don’t really get how it would help but most just say it’s anxiety or ptsd. If my golf game gets worse, I may have to look into it.

... This old hippie lived in IL, spent a ton of time in CA and now Phoenix. All are 420 friendly. And if you are going edible, live resin is the only way to go. Phoenix is a little less than 1/2 the Chicago prices and with sales it is even less expensive. Tons of buy one get one free deals.

The city of Dallas decriminalized weed - you can no longer be arrested for possession up to 4 ounces. But I’m rarely in the Dallas city limits and our douchey state AG is contesting the city’s right to pass the law.

MT has the ability for citizen referendum.  Via those we have recreational weed and women’s healthcare.

What keeps me to the edibles and not going very often to the jar of the loudest loud I’ve ever had on hand is I have this hang up about my kids. I have no problem with them seeing me drink alcohol, and I’m teaching #1 how to cook with it, which means sampling before cooking. 

 

I know full well I’m a very relaxed drunk, so I’ve never had an issue with my boys seeing me get a little bit loose on brown liquor. I’ve never been hammered in front of them and never will. But I feel differently about them seeing me light a joint and burn down a cloud in front of them. For whatever reason, I just don’t need them to see that, so I pick and choose the times when smoke occurs.
