... Well, that's kinda me dude. 🤔 Granted I was a DJ for 12 years and music has always been a big part of my life. Not so much "background" noise, just an appreciation for music. I don't use earbuds or headphones but have an audiophile sound system for critical listening, a near audiophile Bang and Olufsen stereo in my GV60, two Sonos 100's with a Sonos mini sub for casual listening around the house, and a nice system in my bedroom. TV on, not so much.

No issues or worries whatsoever here. Out of all the places I have lived this area has by far the least amount of police presence.

 

I am quite reserved with my use of it when out and about. I am like MS in that I never smoke in my car. For me it's at home, out on the golf course, or in someone's backyard for a get together. I also make sure I have come down a good bit before I drive. I carry Visine everywhere I go to lessen the automatic "he's stoned" look of red eyes.

Our little hippie hamlet has put a moratorium on new dispensary licenses.  A town of our population should support (and I don't remember the exact figures) say 35 of them and we have about 80.  It seems like every corner has one, it's really quite wild.

 

It's funny.  It is completely legal here for all uses, but even then, people will drink publicly but on the golf course all my buddies use one hitters.  The only time its obvious is when we are playing multiple groups and the job of the first guy is to leave a joint on the #17 tee marker and a lighter for the following groups.  The last group picks it up so no one knows it's happening.  It just goes to show the prevailing attitudes (based on its illegality for all those years) haven't quite caught up to the legalities of it.  OTOH, when we were in CA in 2018, everywhere we played except LACC and MPCC we smelled it.

The joint left on the tee box for the groups behind to hit (the doobie not the golf ball) when they arrive to play that hole is pretty cool. I hadn't heard of such a system. You have a good number of stoners at your club if that's happening. 

 

I'm the only golfer in my group of golfing friends who smokes a little ganga when playing golf, most of the others drink beer.

To me, punk rock has always been about making an uncomfortable statement. 

 

When I was like 16 or so; I was leaving lunch in high school when the "weird girl" came up to me and handed me Bad Religion's "Stranger Than Fiction" CD and was all "Listen to this." To this day - and we're still friends - I dunno why she did that. 

 

Got in my car after school, popped it in my lil Discman mounted on the lil bit that did its best to prevent skipping and this happened.

 

 

I was a lil Ashworth wearing golf nerd i rural NC ffs. But ... that tune got me. If there's any tune I can say changed my life - it's that one.

... Music day at the Lounge. Love it! I think most of us are happy prisoners of the music of our youth. Nothing I like better than harmonies having grown up with the Beatles as my prime musical influence. I am still a sucker for a Mamas & the Papas or Hair by the Cowsils. By the time I was in radio in the early 70's I thought Led Zeppelin was a Heavy Metal band. 🤣  The Beatles took the mamby pamby harmonies of the 50/60's and turned them upside down and eventually inside out. Is it any wonder I didn't like Metal/Punk? With my musical upbringing I don't like anyone yelling at me at any time in real life and even more so with my music. 


... Those Boomers that bemoan modern musics vapid lyrics "I hate you. I love you. I miss you. I don't miss you. I want you. I don't want you. You screwed me over. I screwed you over" over and over again don't understand there are always still great lyrics out there. This one checks all my boxes. Poignant and meaningful lyrics, pleasing but haunting vocals and subtle beautiful instruments.

I’m trying to remember the first CD I purchased. It was a little later because it took me a bit to get the cash together for a Discman. Not sure why…I was making $$$$$$ caddying, where was that money going?
 

Tapes would be impossible to recall. I am a 1976 model so when I got into music it was the height of the mix tape era….demos, copies, bootlegs, all kinds of stuff from all kinds of sources. 
 

I am ashamed I left Bob Marley off my golf playlist above. Bob is great in any context. He is actually my son’s typical wrestling warm-up music.

... Maybe. I used vapid for modern Pop that seems to be all about ME! It's like everything lyrically takes place in their 6 foot bubble. Almost every one I hear is about personal relationships. Inequality, global warming, racism, war or most any pressing issue for today's youth just doesn't seem to make it to their music. What's Goin On, For What It's Worth, I'd Love To Change the World, Eve Of Destruction and Ohio are just a few socially conscious songs come to mind and I just don't hear anything like that today. Of course I only hear hits and don' listen to Pop so I may be missing something.

... That's just awesome. If I could just program adagio string pieces I would love to listen to classical music on the course. I think it would be very calming and elevating at the same time.

I like music when I’m playing solo or practicing.  I usually use earbuds, but I have a small speaker I can clip on my bag if I want to skip the earbuds. 
 

My musical tastes vary, if I had to narrow down to a specific genre or 2 it would be rock/classic rock and country.

I may have posted this before but when I was doing a Lunch Time request show from 12-1pm at WCKG in Chicago I was so hyped when someone called in for one of my all time favorite Eagles songs "Bitter Creek". I recorded him asking for it and me saying I would play it for him. We had a new Program Director from LA and he burst in the control room pretty angry and asked "What the he!! is this?!? You can't just play your personal favorites ... it's a REQUEST show!"  I played him the caller's request and he said F That! About 10 minutes later I got a memo that said from now on, any request had to be on a pre approved list. The list sucked and was limited to pretty much any groups big hits, which of course they could hear the other 23 hours so that really was the end of any real requests. Bitter Creek was not on the list. 🤪
