Well glad to see this thread alive again haha. @ChadL thanks for the write up comparing KT and Zx7. The zx7s are the irons that keep making it back into my bag, but I’m looking for something new. Since I posted I went ahead and ordered a set of King Tours 4-pw 🫠

@driveandputtmachine thanks for the feedback as well! I’ve had a decent amount of iron sets the last 3 years. Partly because I was managing a pro shop and the owner would give me a set of whatever I wanted lol. 1st attempt at replacing my zx7s started with i230s when they first dropped, performed well but was never in love with them. They felt numb to me like I couldnt tell where I was hitting them. Next was the mizuno 223, same thing decent but long irons definitely felt different and they were kinda too quick/“hot”. 3rd attempt Titleist t100s/t100/620mb combo set decent set but mb’s are demanding and titleist forgings are definitely on the firm side. And the latest experiment TM P7cb, these are the best out of what I just listed, still feel like something is missing feel wise. Every iron set I also experimented with new shafts so that probably also didn’t help. I guess I’m sensitive to feel. Glad to hear the KT feel nice, I’m sure they will it’s all I keep hearing in the reviews. I did order them to my spec and my shafts (no more experiments lol)

About the P7CB's what is your SS and Handicap? Wondering if I could play them (currently in 2021 770's). Ultimately I will get fitted just curious.

I’m currently a 1.3 but trending down, was making a wrist set change but ultimately ended changing my grip to more neutral and I’m not fighting a closed face anymore. SS with 7 iron is around 98-101. I’m pretty high launch and spin. I think the P7cb are fantastic and are decently forgiving. Iron play has been my weakness for about 3 years now and I don’t flush it often to be honest. My distance and pitching putting game keep me in it. I just decided to order a new set because I don’t think the shafts I had in the P7cb work for me (px 6.5) I have been using X7’s in my zx7s since 2020 and I really love the weight and feel of those shafts, so I ordered a set of king tours with X7’s.

Hope this helps!

Those heat map things show why some people (toe missers) think a club is not forgiving while heel miss people think the opposite.  I have played blades most of my life so i've learned never to miss on that side of the face...well, almost never.

A players closure rate is super critical to how clubs feel on toe misses and how much "distance loss" is perceived. Regardless of your closure rate with correct timing you can still hit perfect shots out of the middle. But somebody with a 3600dps closure rate vs 1800dps has 2.5mph more clubhead speed when hitting the toe than hitting the middle. So a high closure rate person hitting the toe will have reduced smash factor from toe strikes but will actually lose less distance than somebody with slower closure rate.

So basically higher closure rate = higher inertia in the toe negating some of the lack of inertia inherent in the toe area of the clubhead?  The toe is moving forward faster so when the ball hits that area it has a little more 'oomph' behind it.  makes sense.

Close , the added inertia of the toe negates some of the lower COR in the toe area.

Higher toe flow power heel. But the impact zone and angle of decent minus the up angle of follow though times the smash factor divided by the turf. All equaled to smushing the ball straight down the gut… left rough

Tours are definitely forgiving on the heel side.

My King Tours just arrived today, will throw them in the bag and play with them tomorrow. Visually compared to my OG zx7’s the tours have a slightly longer blade length, but much thinner top line (looks great). Both sets have same shafts and std loft/lie/length so it’ll be interesting to see how different they are.

I came from the same irons as you when I got my King Tours. For me launch was noticeably higher (not in a bad way) with my Tours. Launch monitor confirmed higher launch and spin with my tours over my ZX7s.

Only played a round on Sunday, then yesterday some practice on the course and range time. I’d say I’m seeing the same, but it doesn’t seem like much more height and spin. My distances seem to be the same and maybe a bit more in the long irons. Visually I love these irons at address, the perfect top line, offset etc. Feel  and sound is nice too. I’ve been working on a grip change and getting rid of a shut club face/ tilting and swing too in to out so I had a crap day on Sunday, the forgiveness bump with these is noticeable, still hit 61%. So far I’m happy, I already like the feel and look of these more than the P7cbs. Also getting the shaft I’m used to and not experimenting was huge as well lol lesson learned.

That’s a lesson that hasn’t stuck with me yet, 😂. Had PX LZ in my ZX7s and I have Modus 120TX in my Tours……sigh……maybe someday I’ll learn.

Came back to say I love these King Tours! Fantastic irons, biggest difference to me is the extra help in the longer irons, I find them significantly more forgiving than the OG ZX7s I played for about 4 years. Played a big tournament with them, and they were predictable and gave me better outcomes then some of my swings deserved. These will stay in the bag for a while!

I caved to the pressure of this thread and in true GolfWRX Ho fashion I have ordered a set of the King Tour black with black shafts and grips. Pray for me.

In all seriousness, I have been eying these for quite some time. And with all the positive feedback I have read here, as well as other places, I have to see for myself.
