3 wood must be a bomber! Love the putter too. Not sure if I'm a fan of the look still but maybe the performance out ways it.

Would love to know his club swingweight specs. If I remember correctly, he prefers really low (C7ish) swingweights which I always found really interesting.

Yeah he's likes a heavy static weight club but adds like 20g plugs under the grip to counterbalance.

Woods = C8

Irons = C7+

Wedges = C7

Check out the "Inside the Bag" article from a few years back.

Would love to swing his clubs just to see what they feel like. Really interesting.

What would be the reason for this other then for optically to have more guys in the black?  What would be wrong with the the player that fits into the Black (Blueboard) 7x just fitting into another Ventus profile (blue, red, "purple") as long as it's still ventus?

I can only speculate (including the idea that it was for broader adoption) but there are likely multiple reasons. The 6x may very well have been the outlier in terms of design here for all I know.

The primary reason IMO would be to create a "tweener" shaft that satisfied the player that liked the Black, wanted a little more kick, but the other profiles were a little too much in that regard. All the Blues are VERY different from the Black 6x which likely wouldn't suit everyone looking for the stiffer driver shaft/softer fairway shaft formula.

Fujikura seems to adhere to the design philosophy of keeping very consistent handle diameters throughout their line as well, and that also plays a big part, because to increase stiffness you either need to add (or change) material or increase hoop diameter. The former will often create balance point changes in the shaft and the latter leads to shafts feeling different under the hands due to varying taper rates, something that many pros are sensitive to. Mitsubishi (and now Aldila by extension) for example has long used bigger variations in handle diameter across several lines which is something they are now advertising has been reigned in (Consistent Feel Design™). Fuji has always kept that consistent, but as a result you'll often get higher balance points in the heavier shafts, something I like personally. The Black 7x is definitely considered counterbalanced in that regard whereas the 6x is not, another preference difference. The 7x is also almost 15g heavier than the 6x which makes it feel like it was intended for the shorter driver crowd as well.

There are several potential factors as well, but that is already enough shaft nerdery, lol.

Very interesting indeed. Thanks!

I’m guessing this would apply to the tx as well as in black 6tx vs black 7tx?

Excuse my ignorance if I'm totally off base, but would this potentially interest players who want to keep the Black profile from driver into fairway woods, as well?  Stoutness in the 6x for the driver off the tee, then extra kick in the 7x to help with launch and spin off the deck?

What type player or general swing characteristics would a TR Red suit? I love the look of it and I have a G430 driver so this has piqued my interest.

Do you think they pay for their clubs now or the club makers will still provide like before.

Most of the guys I think you’re talking about will play in the majors. Anyone that’s playing in 1 major is getting at least 5 digits to play certain clubs. And definitely get them for free.

If you’re a PGA pro member in general you get some ridiculous free swag and insane discounts at every tournament, including LIV.

Sergio can play whatever he wants and went Ping.  I guess he needs mor MOI nowadays.  🤣

Ventus Red is a surprise.

Not really IMO.  I read somewhere that he has a negative AoA with driver from all that lag he has.  He's played traditional blue board profile shafts for driver throughout this career after transitioning from steel in driver until he had the Ventus Black in driver.  The switch to TR Red makes sense though because it's closer to a blue board profile.  It's not a red board profile like some people think.

In a driving tutorial video he did with Meandmygolf back in January 2022, he mentions how he has changed his AOA on his driver swing during COVID. He talks about how he tees the ball up much high now, so he can hit up on it.

Haven't been on here for a while. Why the no LIV discussions on here? Golfwrx ran by PGA tour now?

Yes I think WRX signed a contract with the PGA tour a few years ago.

I kinda wonder if LAGP is going to be one of the equipment supporters of LIV?  Seems like with DJ and BDC being part owners and then several other LIV guys going into the shafts.

I always was a huge Sergio fan and blame him for the uncontrollable whip I get in my swing sometimes, lol.
