Callaway adaptor line up

Recommended Posts

On the callaway adaptor there is the white line on the adaptor and the white line on the driver head that usually you line up and that’s the setting you’re in. The adaptor I had installed was put on upside down for how the graphics were. If I put it in the settings I want say D +1 for example and have that line up with the head on the driver but it’s not necessarily lined up with the line on the adaptor is that ok? Pictures added for reference.

Correct. Aligning the adapter cogs with the white line on head will determine the current setting.

Yes that's perfectly fine - it has no effect on the settings - but only for Callaway.

If you look at the “hosel bore” on the Green Dot adaptor it is significantly off centre compared to the other Callaway Optifit adapters.

I would suggest that using the adaptor with the white line/green dot in line with the marking on the head to ensure that the setting is consistent with the one displayed when bolted in place.

I've never had a green dot in hand.   Are coming to that conclusion just from the picture - or is it something you've directly measured yourself on the adapter with the cogs removed?

I’ve built 20 or so clubs with the Green Dot adaptor, when you have one in hand it is obvious enough to see with the naked eye.

So i took a god look at a shaft with a regular adaptor and one with the green dot and i couldn't notice anything just looking at them. However when i messed with the settings on the green dot one basically did what i did in those pictures the club does look like it sets up differently. With it matching the line the face seemed to change more in line with what i was expecting so ill just make sure to line it up the graphics upside aren't a big deal in the long run ill get over it lol.

So... what club / club manufacturer has the most flexibility for flattening lie and reducing loft?

I am Left handed golfer. I was told that I could use a RH adapter to reduce the loft. The theory being that A RH adapter +2, would equal negative 2 in a LH club. But.. the lies get all wonky.

Also... I would love to flatten the lie of my hybrid... Based on my research thus far... It doesn't seem that they offer those for hybrids?! Am I wrong?

Seems like the equation should be simple, open the club face, and flatten the lie. Please help! Too far down the rabbit hole on this one!

TM - since they have a full 4* of adjustability, +/- 2* for both loft and lie.

Now what which OEM and head model will give you the flattest lie at the flattest adjustment setting is a different question.   You'll likely have to dig through the individual head model specs more closely to find that out.

It's a common misconception - but it's not true.   The callaway is a +/- 1.5* adapter.   The "standard" loft position is just not in the middle of the adjustment range.  The standard LH and RH adapters are identical in every way except for how the labels are printed on them.

Sorry, might be some confusion here but it's hard to tell.    Lie angle and face angle are completely independent.   Changing one doesn't inherently change the other.   Some adapters might not allow independent adjustment but you don't really need to do one to get the other.      It's loft adjustments that are tied to face angle changes.  Lowering the loft (not lie) will open the club face.

Or are you saying you just want to do both?

IF that's the case, I'd look for a Wishon head since they are bendable in any direction.

Either that or just play the hybrid at a shorter playing length - that will effectively give you a flatter lie.   And (like drivers and fairways) most hybrid stock playing lengths are too long for most am's anyways.

If you want to flatten lie AND reduce loft (open the face angle) Wishon product is hard to beat with the ability to bend 4 degrees or so in both directions.

IIRC the flattest lie setting on a TM is the “std loft” setting, so as you move away from this to reduce loft the lie angle becomes a little more upright.

That being said, the biggest influence in ball flight when choosing between lie angle and face angle will always be face angle.

I dont' disagree - but for full disclosure I will throw in the point that it's not always easy to find someone with the right equipment to bend woods and hybrids.   So might want to see if you can find someone that can before actually buying.
