Extending 3W shaft for driver. Can it be done?

I have a Ventus Blue playing at 44.75 in my LTDX LS driver. I have a Ventus Red 3W shaft from a G425 that hasn't been tipped. Can I extend it 1.5" or so and try it in my driver, or does that not work with the dynamics of the shaft?

I don't know anything about that specific shaft profile, perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

 

But it's probably worth a try... It will end up a bit counterbalanced because of the few grams of extra weight in the butt end. But if you just build it assuming it will read a point or two light on the swing weight scale, the extra few grams shouldn't make much difference in terms of total static weight.

I think with the force of your swing you will snap that extension on the butt end.

I did this exact thing with a Ventus black 7X that I wanted to test in my driver. I extended it about 1.5” with a properly fitted Golfworks premium extension. 
 

I swing driver at 120ish mph and it was fine for the hundreds of balls I hit with it.

I personally wouldn’t recommend it I just did a 3/4 extension in a driving iron and it made me nervous.  I guess worst case you extend it , it fails and ruins the butt of the shaft making it junk. 
 

I’d just sell the shaft as a 3w and buy a driver used here.

I'd feel safer extending it with a properly fitting shaft extended than buying a used shaft here.

If properly done, it wont have any effect of the dynamics of the shaft.  As others have said, just make sure to use a good quality extension.
