Fujikura Axiom, anyone hit these yet?

i see you have steelfiber in your wedges, do the axiom feel similar? I have modus 105s and need some direction

I just realized that I did not really answer your question.  No, Axiom and SF CW don't feel similar to me.  SF feels closer to Modus than Axiom does, but in irons I strongly prefer Axiom to anything else I have ever used.  The accuracy and consistency is worth paying for, just have to find the right weight.  I wish they would make a 115g s or x

I appreciate the info. Sounds like a need to demo an Axiom to see for myself. Currently have Modus 105s in the irons and Tour Spinner in the Wedges, but honestly those are just heavy for me. Definitely need something lighter, thanks

hi guys,

sorry if this has been covered already but have any DG X100 users switched to Axiom?

if so, did you go to 125X? how does it compare to X100 in terms of flex, feel, spin/launch, etc.

thanks!

Just got done with my first test of an Axiom 105x in my T150 4iron (which had an X100 soft stepped previously). Swing weight, surprisingly, came out the same. But the Axiom version feels lighter. Overall, the Axiom iron feels faster, lighter, smoother and is much easier on the body on mishits. Solid strikes feel really powerful. Despite those benefits, I would say my overall numbers (distance, launch, spin, etc.) were very comparable to the X100, but the Axiom does give me a bit more swing speed potential if I really want to go after one.

I am considering adding more Axioms into my set, but will do more testing first. I am also quite sure I would go 125x in the rest of the set, and limit the 105x to the 4iron. The lighter feel works for that club but I think I would want a touch more stability and heft in my other irons.

Did you follow standard tipping instructions and go with a tipped LP shaft?  I'm getting close to working up the courage to get one of these for my ZX Utility 4, and was kind of leaning towards trying to "hard step" it with an untipped MP shaft.  Normally an X100 player and very comfortable with them in longer irons.

Standard tipping, which for the LP in a 4i-iron is 1 inch.

Man oh man, I bought a wedge set with these shafts because I wanted to try them out.

Literally 1st swing holed out for eagle on 1 from 110 yards.

I now have them in 8-Pw + plus my 3 wedges. They’re lighter but just as stable as my X flex c taper lites I’m coming from. Ball flight is awesome for me. I will be slowly building out 4-7 once I can afford more lmao.

Can anyone give a good comparison of modus tour 105s to an Axiom 105s?  Trying to decide if I like the modus but want graphite if the 105s straight in would be comparable from a stiffness standpoint.

The Axiom’s feel and play much stiffer than the Modus do IMO.  Launch was a little lower with Axiom’s.  I think the MMT’s would be a better match to the Modus as the MMT’s feel a bit smoother than the Axiom’s.  I wasn’t a big fan of the Axiom’s.

I haven't been up to date on the Axioms, but I was on a very different online vendor websites and noticed they had a taper tip option.  For example Peoples Clubs offers both a .370 tip and a .355 taper tip.  Is the taper tip version just the vender doing tip prep or is there a dedicated taper tip version available now direct from Fuji?

Joined the Axiom crowd. Was fit the other day and had 3 shafts to choose from since my swing is very repeatable. Axiom for feel for me beat out PX io and DG mid. Did like all three but Axiom just really stable and smooth. Can’t wait to get them on the course when I get them in a few weeks!

curious to know that that since Fuji dont offer a 95 gram option what are players going with that are using something around the 105-110 weight category? I want to try something lighter then my Modus 105 but not sure if going to a 75 gram shaft is a good idea. Maybe the weight and feel of the axiom at 105 will be what I am looking for.

What would players choose that are using a steelfiber or recoil 95?

Currently play KBS $ taper 120. Thinking of trying the 105S. Anyone have any recommendation or feedback comparing the two?

I would recommend Dart 105 instead of Axiom for someone playing $ Taper. Stiffer mid section in the Dart and I think they feel a little better than Axiom. Axiom will have a softer mid and stiffer tip.

Where did you see this info? I can't find Fujikura releasing that they now have a OE taper tip Axiom

I questioned them because I noticed the “Axiom” script being 1/2” subsequently lower on each shaft where the “Velocore” script being in the same spot. They told me they ship Taper tip to OEM’s and the 3 tier parallel tip ones to builders.

100% confirmed. Ordered a Axiom to try in my 7iron from Peoples Golf and told me the OE tapers were slightly delayed and asked if I wanted to wait or have them prep a parallel tip. I asked to wait, so they do exist!

Did an iron shaft fitting today as I am moving from steel to graphite. Was previously in KBS Tour 120S (I kind of self fit those) then, in my Maltbys, I cheaped out with FST 125 S which is descending weight and kind of harsh feeling. Anyway, I was starting to have pain in my elbow and forearm so I decided to get proper fit. I tried MMTs, Steelfibers, LA Golf and Axiom (both 105 and 125) and the Axiom felt far and away the best. Loads well, feels smooth. I thought the Steelfiber was harsh, the LA golf was a bit boardy and the MMTs just felt...odd. The real surprise is I did well with the 125X. I have never thought of myself as an "X" guy but I was swinging 92-94 mph with the 7 iron with an early-ish release (I am an NTC disciple). Anyway, the good news is that I found a shaft that launches higher, has a tighter dispersion and feels way better. The bad news is that it is Fuji Axiom 125x which a full set will cost me more than a set of Maltbys. Oh well.

I am in the process of switching to Axiom right now. I spent the last ~2yrs trying to find a new lightweight iron shaft including steel or graphite to improve ball speed and carry distance and swing speed (to a lesser degree) without comprising dispersion. Current irons (since 2018) are Srixon 7 series with PX Lz 6.0 shafts. My time is limited with work and young kids so I recently had The People's Club build me a demo Srixon ZX7 Blk Chrome 6i demo with Axiom 105S to expedite the process.

I finally got a chance to hit the ZX7 the other day (with a Mevo+). I was barely loosened up and immediately saw approx +2.5 ball speed at equivalent SS and the carry distance increased 4-6y on average (176-77 to 181-82). My mishits had much better carry and my top end was no longer capped at ~180-181 -- I had 2 out of 14 swings recorded at 187 and 188y carry. My 6i SS is 90-93mph on any given day. Besides the improved ball speed and carry I was very impressed with the tight dispersion. I need more time to better comment on overall workability -- high/low, draw/fade, spin control. I hit enough to immediately email TPC approving the full 4-P build.

Does it feel different than steel? Obviously yes, but that was to be expected. Going into the process I was very willing to give up the feel of steel if the ball speed and carry increased while maintaining consistent peak height, spin, decent angle and dispersion. I previously hit several shafts in the 85-115 range including both steel and graphite (all in 7 series or ZX7 head).

Everyone is different so the Axiom might not work for you, but IMO they're definitely worth a try if you are wanting or needing a lightweight iron shaft. Cheers!

Tried Axiom 105S in my driving iron this week. It's awesome, feel, distance, trajectory and dispersion all got better. Kicked the MMT out for good. It's interesting that even the feel of Srixon MKii iron is much improved ... before I could feel the hollow head, which made me want to hit the ball a groove or 2 lower than normal. Now it feels full and "solid."

One thing I will say however is that THIS IS NOT A STOUT feeling shaft as many have advertised. I had to tip it another 1/2" to play between S and X. Did the same with the Ventus Red in my fairway.

That last comment is very interesting- everything I’ve read / seen makes it seem relatively stout. Really need to go hit these soon - I’ve been intrigued for awhile going to graphite in my irons and these are at the top of my list.

I wouldn’t say STOUT is the word to describe Axioms. To me they don’t feel harsh at all, but they are very stable.

Imo they were made to fit a wide range of players. Even someone who uses stock stiff shafts in same weight won't be turned off by them. The good thing I've found with Velocore shafts is that trimming even a smallish amount like 1/2" will have a noticeable impact. In my case it got me the stoutness I wanted in both driving iron and fairway. Here's a link to their trimming guide:
