Fujikura Axiom, anyone hit these yet?

Anyone SS the 125 yet? Im really on the line between S and X but want a smoother feel. I do better with heavier shafts so im thinking of SS the 125, maybe even twice. I picked up a set of Cobra King forged  at a great price with the intention of building my perfect set the shafts are wrong but for the price i got them I don't really care. These are the best looking set i have seen to my eye for every club in the bag. Now on to the shaft. Its down to these, The DART 5 120 or the MTT 125. The dart is the only ones i dont have to SS though.

i tried a 4iron before from my friend, it felt very strange, quite stout and heavy actually, but that could have been the random head on it.

I like the smooth feel of the 125x, as it is. Soft stepping it might make it feel more stiff , towards the same kind of feeling towards MMT.

The MMT for me, was way too oardy feeling and everything came out very low.

One thing I will say however is that THIS IS NOT A STOUT feeling shaft as many have advertised. I had to tip it another 1/2" to play between S and X. Did the same with the Ventus Red in my fairway.

I would agree. I played a KBS Tour 120 Stiff and then FST 125 Stiff and when I went to a fitting I got put into a 125X in the Axiom and didn't really notice or feel like it was STOUT and I have never played X flex in my life in anything.

Hey guys looking to move from the PX LS 6.5 (125g) into the Axiom 125x. Has anyone here hit both? The LS are a bit too low launch / spin for me so looking for something to bump both up. Also considering the PX 6.5 LZ and X100.

Funny I was discussing the axiom with a club pro who's being sponsored by one of the major OEMs. He plays PX6.5 but wanted to switch to Axiom 125's after a session on the launch monitor. He didn't because his sponsor didn't offer it as an option to their pros.

Im in between the 105x and 125x myself.

Play best in a modus 120x and a Oban 115x. I am curious if people have noticed the 125x doesnt feel as heavy as it is stated? my tempo is moderate with a swing speed of 92-95 mph.

I have heard so many mixed messages around the 125x. some say its to stout and others say its not stout at all. I am guessing that has to do with tempo.

thoughts?

I'm in the same boat as you as I'm unsure whether the 105x will be too light for me. I play Modus 120x with a 7i swing speed around 93mph. I have just purchased a 105x axiom shaft to try out as I'm looking to relieve some shoulder pain I've been dealing with. It might be a week or two until I've got the club built up but can provide my thoughts once I've hit it.

Looking forward to your feedback. I ended up ordering a new set of irons from Will People's with the 105x. That's what he recommended so I stuck with it. Just trying to ease my overthinking mind haha.

Well I did it, took one of the most affordable heads you can buy and put it with one of the most expensive iron shafts you can buy. Haven't hit it yet but it looks very cool. Highly suggest logo down on these.

How’s it feel? I have axioms in mizunos & they’re fantastic. The Maltbys intrigue me tho for sure. Sounds like the perfect head to balance the shaft pricing.

Interesting you should ask because I tested them with a Mizuno Pro 243 head (also tried out Blueprint S, P770, Apex CB, Zx7, JPX Tour). I would say, for me, the Mizuno Pro 243 head feels better. The TS1-IM feels fine, no problems for me, and the addition of the graphite shaft makes it much less harsh at impact. All that said, I am sticking with the TS1-IM because they work great for me but if I had unlimited money I would probably get the Mizuno Pro 243 heads. Numbers were similar with the Mizuno Pro 243 doing a *little* more of what I want. So now I will just dream about them but, on course, it would be hard to see a massive difference. The Maltbys are still a great club and I like them better than all the other clubs I tried above save the Mizuno Pros.

Anyone have feedback on Axiom 125x vs UST Dart V 120 F5? Haven't been able to test both head to head

Played my first full round with the Axioms (125X) this past weekend and wow, was very impressed. I normally "sling it" a little with my irons hitting a draw and these were just dead straight all day...which is great. Impact sensation was very soft/smooth which I greatly appreciate but I could still tell when I thinned one or otherwise not on the button vs a dead center strike. I didn't feel like I had my best stuff at all and still hit 15/18 greens. I started laying back on shorter par 4s so that I could hit more irons vs wedges. I also saw 3-4 yds more carry on avg across my irons and had to adjust mid round to all the sudden feeling like I had "juiced" mid irons.

I am planning on playing my next round "irons only" so that I can really put these through the paces. I know everyone has different feels and needs from a shaft but I truly think anyone who plays a heavier shaft should at least try these. Also need a few range sessions to see if it was just beginner's luck. I did get fully fit into these so they should be an upgrade but this exceeded my expectations.

Sounds like they work really well for you. What iron shafts did you play prior to Axiom?

My KM700's with Axiom 105x's came in and WOW.... at D2-D4, I am thoroughly impressed. they don't feel as light as they are. its a perfect set for myself.

I was skeptical of the set being to light, though I am now locked in. some of my best iron shots this season has been with this set. and that's after one round.

I will keep testing and playing, but its safe to say these wont be coming out of the bag for a very long time..

Now if I can just get ahold of a GT3 Driver, GT2 3W, GT2 3H, and a T200 4U, I will be a happy man.

I hit my Axiom shafted 7 iron 3 times in my round over the weekend. I wasn't playing my best but the 3 7 irons I hit were all flushed... Gonna make the decision to buy a single 125x shaft or a full set of 105x shafts after tonight's range session.

In my prior iron set I played KBS 120 Stiff and then in the Maltbys I determined shafts were not that important for some reason so I went with the FST 125 Stiff (budget KBS line). I have also tinkered with and liked the Nippon Modus 130X. I would say I had decent results with the FST 125 S but they were really starting to hurt my elbow. That is what prompted the switch to graphite. The Axioms just give a really soft sensation at impact and, again, don't feel boardy at all to me. Very smooth but stable. Compared to Steelfibers and the LA Golf shaft, these are much more comfortable. This just made my TS1-IMs that much better and now I wish there was a 125 Stiff Axiom that I could put in my wedges.

something I did not know, but they are actually one in the same. the difference is the taper tips have been prepped by Fujikura from a parallel tip

That makes sense. When I asked my fitter if we were doing the parallel or taper he was like "they are only in parallel" but what I think he meant was what is being quoted above. The parallels are split into LP/MP/SP with the LP going with the 2-4 irons, MP going in the 5-7 and the SP going 8-W. They supposedly have slightly different profiles to be optimized with the various clubs they go with. I only go down to a 5 iron so I only really have experience with the MP and the SP.

I still think this just a weird way to produce a taper tip shaft.

Are we sure that is how they are producing the taper tip version? Has Fujikura confirmed that because the graphics of the taper tip version remains the same length from the tip whereas if they were just prepping them from the parallel version the graphics wouldn't be the same length from tip? I don't know how responsive @Fujikura Golf are on here but maybe they can confirm?

Based on the note at the bottom of the TT specs, I would say Fuji is doing the tip trimming and tapering in house. The slight variation in weight is another clue.
