Mizuno wait time, or shop failure?? Just gotta vent, I guess.

Mizuno is running very slow right now just fyi. Don't think they have the work force to build the stuff as I have numerous orders in with them of various compositions and they are all running over 4 weeks.

That said, 3 months makes no sense as I had my orders before mid March being fulfilled in 10 business days.

Where did you order the club and have you contacted Mizuno for an update?

I ordered a 923 HMP 5 iron on January 10th. DG 120 stiff shaft. Nothing custom. Still not here. Shop says they were told Mizuno got a "bad batch of heads". Sounds completely made up. Seems insane to me that it would take 95 days (and counting), for a single iron.

Have you reached out to Mizuno directly about this?  My shop gets Mizuno clubs on the regular in about 4 weeks or so, depending on what it is.  That only recently increased to ~7 weeks because they had a computer malfunction that caused them to lose production capabilities for about a week or so.  I would imagine if you dropped a note to them through their contact forms they would 100% have an answer on this.

Sometimes stuff just takes a long time (i.e. Vokey wedges and SC putters were BRUTAL last year, look up KBS delays, etc.) but I have not seen anything on Mizuno taking almost 4 months.

I ordered it from my local pro shop. It's where I get 95% of my stuff. They're authorized reps and even have demo days from all the big manufacturers. They seem dumbfounded as well. I wrote an email to Mizuno last night. Not really sure what they can say that'll make it better, though. I'm pretty soured on the brand now. I've ordered all new custom drivers and woods from Cobra and TM, and they all got to me within 2 weeks.

I work for a big box golf retail store. The story we were told was their computer systems had totally crashed and shut everything down for a week but that was a few weeks ago. If I think to ask exactly what happened tomorrow I will but we are starting to see some of the custom orders we placed for customers start to trickle back in.

Here’s another screwy thing from Mizuno- A guy I play with has the 921 JPX Hot Metals. He wants to add a 5 iron, and called customer service to find out if this was possible. He was told that they don’t keep inventory of previous models. He asked how someone would replace a lost club, and they basically said they were SOL.  This is nuts. I have had to get a replacement iron from Ping, and it was no problem. We had a Mizuno fitting day last Saturday, and he told the rep about this, and the rep said he might be able to help him, if not he’s going to have to but the current model.

My Feb order kept getting delayed. When I finally received them, it was the wrong set makeup. They quickly sent out the correct set within a week. Set gap wedge loft was way off though. Jpx 923 hmp 5-6 jpx forged 7-gw. 1 inch long, 3 upright and a few loft adjustments. Mizuno seems to have some issues this year.

You are going to run into this with most of the OEMs, there are are certain things Ping does that are outside the norm and very nice to have as an option.

As to the OP, I ordered some 223 long irons not long ago and got them in about 3 weeks, I wouldn't expect a delay like that unless there was a component issue.

Reading these replies, Mizuno will be off my radar forever now. They obviously have issues. BTW I emailed Mizuno and their response is below...  I talked to my pro shop and they showed me the order ticket and confirmation from Mizuno dated Jan. 10. Mizuno is lying.

Hey Jeremy,

Please reach out the account as they will need to explain to you further what has happened with the order. It appears the irons may have been placed at a different time then you have noted.

We apologize for the delay, but this will need to go through them. Unfortunately, we cannot go into too much detail.

Not just this year.  Last year they used a hacking excuse to delay orders for months. They have a serious customer service issue. I've ordered clubs from every major distributor in the last 2 years. Mizuno is light years behind every company when it comes to delivering product on time, and to specs ordered.

When I ordered my 919 Hot Metals, I got them in less than a week. I also got very quick service from Ping back in the day. I have heard of long delays from both of these manufacturers along with others. I guess the pandemic and supply chain issues  really changed things negatively.

"Pandemic" excuses ended a long time ago, as they should have. I'm sorry, but that's a completely ridiculous excuse from any company. I can order a DG120 shaft overnight. I can buy a 5 iron stock off the shelf and build it myself. Which is what I guess I'll do, but blaming total incompetence on a flu is beyond the pale, in my opinion.

How do you know that Mizuno is the bad apple here?

In your second message you said that you buy almost all of your stuff (95%) from your local pro shop.

Maybe the culprit is there? Maybe unpaid invoices, a late payments or something else.

How do you know?

Your quote said "We apologize for the delay, but this will need to go through them. Unfortunately, we cannot go into too much detail."
The keyword here is .... cannot go into too much detail..

There is something going on in the background

I know you are upset but before "spewing" hate towards Mizuno, get all the facts.

I forwarded the email to the pro shop owner. I've been doing business with them for over 10 years. Never an issue. He assured me that he placed the order. He believes from their statement that they're trying to blame him, when in all likelihood it was the reps fault. His best guess is that the rep never put the order in. Since the rep is a Mizuno employee, that makes it Mizunos fault in my eyes. Pro shop is having a shaft overnighted from GolfWorks at their expense. He's going to take apart a 5 iron from a set on his rack and build it for me. They're doing the right thing. The fault falls squarely on Mizuno.

The above.

Is this "Pro Shop" you keep referring to a green grass account (CC or on course), Golf Galaxy, Dicks or a large off course Pro Shop? Small shop? Makes a difference. Every manufacturer has their issues from time to time and we all scream foul. Some are justified and some not. But in my experience in dealing with mostly Ping, Callaway and Mizuno the fault generally lies with the retailer for many reasons. But yes 95 days is wrong.

In this case I suspect the retailer is the one trying to cover his behind or as Golffinn has stated there are other issues involved here.

Maybe the order didn't actually get placed? I "ordered" a vokey 60M from my club last week of November. Didnt' golf all winter due to golfers elbow. Went in to the club in March to see where my wedge was, order never got put through. People make mistakes.

It's not a green grass shop. Brick and mortar that's been in business 25 years or so. 5 fitting bays, ~25 employees. I'd guess ~6000 square feet. My money is on the Mizuno rep being the screw up of the situation.

This is disconcerting, I have a fitting on Saturday and am seriously considering the 923 Tours

I also ordered a S23 wedge and the only custom part was +1/2". It took 7 weeks. Hope you have better success. I doubt I'll ever buy from Mizuno again, unless it's in stock and I have the builds or adjustments done independently.

I get you're upset, but I agree with some of the other posters here.  I know for a fact that we are getting product in on the regular from Mizuno for both custom (ones we rip apart and rebuild) and stock (ones Mizuno builds).  I have been in the business a long time and stuff like this happens.  Could it be your rep's fault for not placing the order, likely.  Is it also on the shop you ordered from letting an outstanding order sit for 3.5 months with no inquiry into where the heck it is?  Absolutely.  The fact that they are making it right for you is fantastic, but I can't solely see the blame on Miz here....the person in charge of accounts and orders for your shop should have started to poke around at about the 5 week mark inquiring where this thing was.  It's not even a hard thing to do either --- you have a Google Doc or an Excel spreadsheet and the dates of when things were ordered.  Have a column at the end "ordered" and "arrived"...if everything around that one club is bright green and fulfilled and you still have a honking red "ordered" from 3 months ago, you clearly have an issue and would be alerted to it pretty fast.

I too am in the middle of a long wait from Mizuno for just two clubs... a JPX 923 HM HL 9 iron and an S23 50 degree wedge. Both are standard specs with Recoil 460 shafts and grips not to be installed. It's about as basic and stock as you can get. From where I sit and also reading several opinions, I think it's a full technology problem. Main point: We aren't waiting for manufacturing. Heads are built and available, shafts are available, grips are available, ferules, adapters all available. We are waiting for a kit to be built plain and simple.

1: We order from a retailer or pro shop. We have visibility into their systems or access to their reps. This is step 1: They have our money immediately.

2: They place an order to the mfg and that's where the disconnect is. We lose visibility and access to information. This is Step 2: This is where the problem really is.

3: Technology fully allows any order entry system to "pull in" related information from the retailer's order to the mfg. This is a missing Step 3 and where we suffer.

4: This is basic "drop ship" commerce. If reps and retailers pull in info accordingly, we then view our order to those who took our money up front, the problem is solved.

Bottom line: We pay up front and automatically become shut out of the true order. This can be fixed.

Why was the Mizuno rep responsible for placing the order? Why didn’t the shop place the order. I just did a fitting at my course, and the rep gave the specs to the pro to place the order.

There's definitely something to this. All great points. I've never had waiting issues like this with any other company, though. Not to these extremes. This is my 3rd time ordering from Mizuno and every single time there's some BS excuse. I will never order a club through them ever again. No chance. If I want a Mizuno product I'll only buy what is in stock on a shelf, and order shafts from GolfWorks. I'll have them built independently

I order from the shop. The shop places the order through the companies rep that covers this selling area. Whatever company that may be. That's how it's been with everything I've ever ordered from them. Never had an issue until now.

I have to agree completely. If the retailers and reps don't operate in modern order entry systems where mfg. info is in real-time to those we place our orders with, we have no choice other than to get the kit parts ourselves and build them ourselves or bring to club fitting places where assembly can be done by professionals. They say buying off the rack is a mistake. But in this case, it's the only way to get the main component we're after, the club head.

For me, I find this a simple solution to "our" problem as consumers. Kind of sad... but it would work well.
