Mizuno wait time, or shop failure?? Just gotta vent, I guess.

I don’t know why the shop can’t order directly with Mizuno. Is this some sort of policy withMizuno?. I’ve had my course order from Ping and Titleist, and I’ve sat in the office when the pro placed the order directly with the companies.These might be questions you can’t answer, but it seems to be an odd system. You would think the more people that are involved with a transaction, the more opportunities there are for mistakes.

Thats why I asked in a previous post about the shop. Here in Michigan, I've ordered numerous iron sets from Carls Golfland and Miles of Golf (both large retail off course Pro Shops with large OEM accounts). Mizuno's and Pings and as you stated the orders went directly from them to the manufacturer. Never had an issue. And if there seemed to be a delay I was informed, and the shop dealt with it.  No "Rep" was involved.

I’ve ordered from Mizuno three times over the past three years. Once from Golf Galaxy and twice from an independent shop. A rep was never involved. Longest I had to wait was 4-5 weeks but that was mainly due to parts shortages during Covid. I don’t get why a rep is involved either. 
 

One possible issue: I don’t know how it works in the golf world specifically but in most retail businesses manufacturers give retail stores X amount of a credit line to place orders. If the store has orders exceeding that credit line new orders are placed on hold until the store pays down their balance due. If a store has a history of being past due, manufacturers will reduce the available credit line and it can be quite difficult for the store to order from that manufacturer. I’ve seen this occur in sporting goods (I have zero experience on the golf side of the business) and pharmaceutical side of retail. Just a possible reason why you might be experiencing this delay.

I know of one local course that lost its Titleist accounts, and had to go to Dick’s to buy golf balls.

Agree - working with Miles of Golf I had a similar experience for other OEM - they were directly placing the orders. Contrast that with Leading Edge Golf (Lansing) which is a decent sized fitting shop where I recently got fitted for the JPX923F - they told me it had to be placed through a Rep - so seems like there is a fair degree of variance and different classes of fitters in Mizuno's eyes.

The size of the account makes a difference.

I’m in the market for new irons, and reading about all the delays from all the manufacturers, makes me think about just holding on to the ones I have.

It’s not as bad as it used to be.  I bought irons from both Srixion and Cobra. Both were at my house within two weeks of order.
