Steelfiber dominates LPGA Tour, and MMT is virtually absent?? Is dispersion that much different?

I agree the key is to get fit.   But just be careful about subjective judgments.  There is no standard for flex, so the idea of what is or is not "true to flex" is completely arbitrary and is going to mean very different things to different people.

I took a trade in set of i210’s with Steelfiber i95 stiff shafts in, been messing around with them on quad and I’m seeing numbers I’ve never seen before. For how light they are they feel really stable and I feel I can really go at the ball. I need to take them outdoors when the weather changes to see what how they play outdoors and flight windows but I feel like I could easily play them. I’ve recently gone from X100’s to a really light 950GH x from Nippon (back surgery last year has taken it toll) which feel amazing, but these feel even better. I see a few of you guys have gone from X100’s into these, how have you found the change overall?

I think steelfiber just has been around for much longer and is why it's more popular

... Steelfiber is more popular with me became they produce the best feel and performance for my swing. I have played a plethora of graphite iron shafts through the years and currently playing a set of Cobra 3DP Tour irons with MMT 85's. The MMT's were a no uncharge custom shaft while Steelfibers were $60 a club. Since I have several sets of Steelfiber shafts I wanted to try the MMT's. After 5 rounds I am going to re-shaft with my Steelfiber i80's. Performance is very similar but the MMT's feel softer and more dampened, not a bad thing in and of itself but I have grown used to the feel of Steelfibers so I will be re-shafting my 3DP's this weekend.

How would you compare feel and stiffness of the Steelfiber vs the Recoils and the KBS TGI?

I haven't played TGI but Steelfibers are way more stout than Recoils. Recoils are more classic graphite in that they dampen a lot of vibration & are on the soft side. They feel great if that's what you're looking for. I have 110 F4 in my lob wedge & really like it for partial shots. If you have wrist or elbow pain, they're a great choice.

Steelfiber i series play very stiff & have a lot of feedback. I can pinpoint strike location easier with the Steelfibers but I also don't love how stiff they feel. FYI I have a set with Steelfiber i95cw, which is the taper tip. The parallel version is a little less boardy. The FC is a completely different shaft & plays a lot less stiff than the i series. The FC90 will play more like a recoil 95.

Everyone is different - but for me, the difference between the SF i95 and Recoil 95 was maybe just the difference of 1 or 2 soft steps.  Noticeable but nothing really all that significant and zero difference in the amount of feedback on impact location.    I could have just as easily played either shaft.

As I‘ve told a few times on this forum, I went from DG X100 to DG 120 X100, and then to i95 S to reduce joint pain, and could not be happier.

I‘m 6‘3“, 225, ex hockey player and have a quite violent swing. The Steelfibers feel similar to DG shafts, are super stable, and don’t ballon when I step on one. Fantastic shafts.

This is why they're so popular on tour - they're easy to transition to from X100, which is the most commonly played shaft on tour.

Makes sense. I could also play either but my hands are very sensitive so they feel quite different to me. That said, I like both of them & the OP needs to just go hit them instead of asking people on the Internet. We have no idea which one he'll like better.

MMT-125 TX feel pretty stout but the others play close to designated flex, IMO.  Steelfiber do tend to feel stiffer than designated flex.

With most shafts it’s feel dependent by player. I’ve played Recoil, Steelfiber, MMT, and now Axiom. For me here are my thoughts on each shaft:

Steelfiber by far the stiffest feel. Imho these play 1 flex stiff. GREAT shafts with same performance as steel, just better feel.

Axiom for me the most stable without any loss of feel and also play stiffer than flex. Very tight dispersion.
MMT played true to flex, but had good feel and performance.

Recoil played the softest compared to flex but had very nice feel.

I can generally agree with this summary. I played Steelfibers for a couple of years, then MMT 105 for a couple of years, and now Axioms for a few weeks. I had dispersion issues with the MMT, that I now realize I was trying to overlook because I did like them overall, and they were readily available from a number of brands.

I recently bit the bullet on the Axioms as I had Callaway credit, and felt I had to give them a try. Glad I did. Having now played the Axiom 105 for a few weeks and several rounds, the difference in dispersion is noticeable. Something in the overall construction, or velocore, or whatever, does just work better for me in the Axiom compared to the MMT. My most common miss with the MMT was a pull. YMMV.

That’s what I noticed when I switched from the MMT to the Axiom. My miss is left and occasionally with the MMT it was out of control. However I loved the feel of MMT. What’s interesting is I actually went down in flex in the Axiom but they feel more stable and the same in stiffness. Axiom just give me exactly what I wanted in increased peak height, increased spin, but much tighter dispersion. I was fortunate enough to be one of the Wrx’ers selected for the Fujikura fitting trip. No doubt that Velocore technology works and for me really has made my shot pattern much tighter.

Yep. In retrospect, I should have stuck with SF i110 instead of MMT 105, but I had a couple of problematic sets with the i110, particularly in terms of really low swing-weight.  I thought I found similar shafts that swing weight much better with the MMT 105, but as I alluded to, I was overlooking consistent issues with dispersion with the MMT that I could scramble and recover from, but was doing me no real favors.

The Axiom 105 S is pretty stout, but nothing crazy. And in my last couple of rounds for example, it was really nice to hit some greens on par 3’s, where I had a pretty bad track record across 1-2 years with the MMT on the same holes. I am sold on the Axiom compared to SF and MMT, but as between SF and MMT related to this thread, I must give the nod to SF i95 and i110 in my case compared to the MMT 95 and 105.

Maybe it's the higher torque in MMT that leads to more deflection but I found Axiom to be more stable as well, however they spun more than MMT so that was the trade off.  I do like the feel of both, however, Axiom felt a touch smoother.  Perhaps Velo tech is magic sauce because the Ventus black line is also very stable for me.
