Streamsong (Just Returned)

I organize an annual spring trip and this year we were 20 and went to Streamsong. We played 36/36/18 including all 3 courses. I posted here months ago about how terrible the booking process was. After having planned trips for many years this was by far the worst. I was nervous that the service during our stay would be the same but as terrible as the booking was everything during our stay was the opposite. Check in, quality of the rooms, staff (hotel & courses), restaurants, etc. was great. Before our trip I read that food service was a concern, but our experience was much better. A few times food took longer but nothing that really stood out to us. I think the menus can use more variety but that is separate. We played Red and Blue 2x each and Black 1x. I had played Red and Blue multiple times over the year but never Black. IMO all three courses were in very good condition. If anything I would say the speed of the greens were on the slower side. Red and Blue faster than Black, but I also realize that a resort course this time of year won't be rolling 11+ so some of it was expected. I did not notice any problems with the fairways or greens. With such a large group we had 10 caddies when we walked and over 5 rounds (combo walking & riding) I can't say enough good things about them. One day one of them wasn't the best but out of our entire stay the quality of the caddies was A+. Their attitude, distances, reads ... everything was really good and they were really fun to be with day after day. I like how Streamsong allows your caddies to follow you from course to course over multiple days unlike some other places.

Overall the booking process was atrocious, but everything was great the moment we arrived. So if you are planning a trip don't let the poor booking process deter you. We used Olympus for transportation from/to the airport and they were also great to work with. Easy booking, very clean buses and both drivers were very friendly.

Cheers

I booked a trip for 8 of us for March of 2024.  They were wonderful to work with regarding lodging and tee times.  Maybe I got lucky, maybe you were unlucky?

maybe they are getting better thatd be great.  one big improvement I think they could make would be a single trip confirmation email with the full itinerary (tee times / dinners etc) and #rooms on it

Hello! My name is Jef Samuelson, and I am the Director of Guest services at Streamsong.  I'm glad to hear that your on property experience was great, but very concerned that your booking experience was problematical.  Would you be willing to spend a few minutes with me discussing your booking experience?  I would very much appreciate it.  My email is jef.samuelson@streamsongresort.com.  Thank you!

Jef,

Thank you for reaching out and following up on my booking experience. I am encouraged by the service improvements you outlined (offline) and further improvements you're making to improve the booking experience for everyone wanting to visit Streamsong. All 20 on my trip were very happy with our on property experience once we arrived, and I look forward to a better booking experience when we visit Streamsong again. Thanks again for following up.

We're so close on that!  We have combined rooms/ golf itinerary, and we're working on adding dining.  It's a bit complicated because it's multiple systems, but we're almost there.

I tend to agree with this, but they are all a lot of fun and you'll enjoy whichever one you play. It's going to be very hot and muggy there in August so try to get out first thing in the morning and play fast.

that time of year I’d just take the earliest tee time I could get out of the three courses.

Just got back from Streamsong for Memorial day weekend.  Played Blue once and Red and Black twice.  Overall it was a good trip but the resort has room for improvement for sure.  On the positive side, all the courses seem to have fully recovered from any conditioning issues and are in good shape.  We did not have any dining service issues as reported by others but were sure to be ready to order due to past reports.

When we arrived for our first round they had us walking and carrying our own bags for all 5 rounds even though I had requested carts / forecaddie for all rounds during the book process and confirmed when moving tee times around.  They were able to get us a caddie so not a huge deal but a little stressful at the time (who is trying to walk and carry 36/36/18 there in late May)

We couldn't get our preferred dining reservation when we tried so book those right away if you are going.  We ended up eating dinner at the pub in red/blue clubhouse the first day and it was AWFUL (stale buns, way over cooked burgers, cold fries).  The second night we ate at the bar at Fin and Feather, seemed like there were tons of open tables the whole time we were down there (2+ hours) so kind of annoying we couldn't get a table.  Also ate in the black club house for lunch two days which was pretty good.

Our hotel booking got messed up and we got double charged for a room (deposit wasn't accounted for correctly).  They corrected this pretty quick.  Overall the booking process / systems seem like they need a ton of work, would make things better for both customers and employees who have to fix the mistakes.

Pace of play is definitely an issue, I would expect 4.5-5 hours on Red/Blue and 4.75-5.25 on Black.

I live in Texas currently and lived in tampa a few years ago. I understand the importance of getting out early.

Headed there over Labor Day weekend, have a 11:00 tee time on the Friday for Black so hopefully we don't get smoked out there with the Heat. The booking process was a complete nightmare and very unorganized compared to Sand Valley (next year trip). Nonetheless, excited to get out there as its the wife and I with another couple whom doesn't golf.

Why on earth would you go to streamsong if you don't play golf?

Hi,

We are in the midst of planning a trip for October 2024. We're a group of 8 golfers of mixed ability (10-20 handicaps). We've got time for 5 rounds, which course would you only play once? From what I've read, Black is a little 'different' and given it's a Gil Hanse, I'm assuming it's a little like Pinehurst no4? Our experience there was that it's a beautiful course but it can really beat you up if you game isn't on. We're more about having a good time and enjoying the round, so maybe we are better playing Red and Blue twice and enjoying the novelty of the Black once? Any thoughts appreciated!

We plan to hit the Chain a couple of times and then shoot some clays one day. Any dinner tips also appreciated? We may have time to check out all options, but if any were disappointing, that would be good to know.

Thank you

This is a question that will not have a consensus answer. Black is a little different but they are all around the same difficulty level.

I would go Red 2 and then a toss up between 2 Black or 2 Blue and one of the remaining courses. I have been 3 times and have only played black once - next time I go it is the one I want to play most.

No matter how you spread out the rounds, it is a great property with great golf, you are going to enjoy it.

Red 2 Blue 2 Black 1

But agree you'll get a lot of different answers too that question. I'd probably base my decision on which courses have the best available tee times.

I just booked our group's trip back to Streamsong in April 2025 and it was the exact opposite of my last experience when booking our 2023 trip. This time Streamsong was VERY responsive, very professional, followed up and when confirming our reservation I was able to book housing, golf and dinner reservations all at once. I am impressed with the improvements they've implemented since my last interaction! Credit where credit is due.
