Ping G430 MAX. What low spin shaft?

Not at all, launch conditions are for any speed golfers. In fact, the LST is popular with many fitters because you can go with more loft for control but still keep spin in an optimal window. For many golfers, higher launch/lower spin can lead to increased carry and more total yardage.

My fitter had me demo a ton of different shafts with the 430 Max. The Ventus TR Red was the absolute best for distance and dispersion. I ended up going with the VA Composites Slay which was a very close second on the numbers as it was a bit less expensive.  Between the fitting fee and custom shaft, this was going to be more than I'd ever spent on a driver.

 

I had second thoughts, but my fitter advised me that they were so close in performance that he recommended I get the Slay.

 

No complaints after 2 months. It's been the best driver I've ever owned.  It's like a longer, more forgiving, better sounding version of the G400 Max....which was the best driver I'd owned before this one.

The Ping Tour Black 2.0 really surprised me. I usually play Ventus Black 6S. Playing the Black Tour 2.0 65 Stiff and liking it quite a bit.

Stock Tour 2.0 Black shaft is pretty fantastic. I also have had great results with the new Chrome, but have a tendency to pull it on occasion. I’m getting a Ping adapter swapped onto my Ventus Black 6S this week to take it for a spin, but the Tour Black is remarkably similar feeling.

I had a fitting with Ping a week ago.   I am not a high spin player so the Max head was great.   Interesting thing was the shafts.  I currently play a G400 (original) with the Tour 65 stiff.

 

Fitter tried the new Chrome and it did not fit me as well.  Tried a few different shafts and then landed on these three:

 

• HZRDUS Black RDX 6.0
• Ventus Blue TR
• Ping Black 2.0

 

I know the Ventus Blue is more mid launch/mid spin but the HZRDUS had better dispersion and slightly better overall numbers (spin could drop though).

 

Is the HRDUS black not quite as low/low as Ventus Black for example or if the Ventus Blue not as spinny as other mid spin shafts?   Will be deciding between these two.

Have had great results with Ventus TR Blue in both the 430 LST and Max heads. Got fit at Ping and had a lot of success with the Max head once we increased swing weight to match the LST head

My kid is like me and about 6'4".  He's only in the 190 range, but took the year off of competitive golf to be the captain of his varsity hockey team, so he's lean and has very strong legs, hips, and hands.  He has tempo issues like I do, but is more consistent at hitting the center of the club face...He just creates a lot more driver spin which creates its own control issues.   After he hit the G430 a few times and wasn't fading it with a high cut like he normally does (his gamer is an Epic Max LS 9* w/ Ventus VeloCore Black 7X) but was hitting a nice, medium-high but fairly straight bombs that were carrying out to the fence line at about 295, I had to try the thing.  Here I am thinking, there's NO way that kid isn't bending that shaft with his tempo and hitting it offline once in a while, but he wasn't...

 

I don't know what secret sauce Ping put in that club, but I will eventually be doing a fitting with one this summer...it was nuts.  I've always been an inconsistent driver, and have said frequently that if I could get my consistent 280-290 length that's all over the place to be 265-275 and in the fairway, I'd be down to a + handicap pretty quick with my solid iron play, much improved wedge play, and virtually guaranteed weeks free of 3-putts...well, this thing might just do the consistent fairways but get me even farther down the line than that based on the little time I played with it.  Unfortunately, that's all this was and I didn't even have our little cheap Swing Caddie Sc300 launch monitor to test any of the actual metrics out...

At any rate, I'd say that anyone on the fence for at least trying this club should not hesitate to do so. I've never liked any of the Ping drivers after the G25, and even that one was not a frequent friend of mine...

Bumping this thread for everyone as I want to try some new shafts.

 

Currently playing G430 Max 9* with Kaili White 60x. Bought a few weights to drop the swingweight down from D9.

 

Pretty happy with it but I just don't think I'm getting the ballspeed. I did just put in another lighter weight and dropped a degree of loft ..we will see.
