Nippon Modus 3 GOST Hybrid shaft trim instructions?

Hi All,

Got an x flex Modus 3 GOST hybrid shaft I’m going to be installing in a New Level NLH-01 20 degree hybrid. It is a .370 shaft. Are there tip trimming instructions anywhere? I haven’t found anything online.

You have to go by WEB CATALOG and all tip trim instruction is on the last page

I just purchased one of these Hybrid shafts as well and am going to throw it into a 370 hosel hybrid, if this does not work I am looking to try this in my Driving iron which is 355 hosel.  Does anyone know enough about the shaft if I can sand the 370 tip to 355 without affecting the performance or feel.  

 

My assumption is that if I get down to the steel by sanding it will feel more harsh, graphite would almost act as a cushion.  I could be way off on this but feel it may cause more vibration.

 

I also understand that they have 355 tip options but I am looking to re-purpose the shaft if the hybrid does work well for me.

It is a two-piece part, with a steel material inner core, and a thin graphite over sleeve. So trying to make this.370 tip fit into a .355 hosel, is like trying to shave a .370 steel parallel tip into a .355 taper tip. Not gonna work.

I think it does.
It would be strange if there was only a resin layer of 0.015/2 on top of vital parts, and thats measured at the very tip end.

We "dont use", the part of the shaft thats doen the hosel, it cant flex at all, and minimum insert is 1.0, so even if we "destroyed" the lowest 0.25 of the tip, it would not matter.

id say, go ahead, dont overthink this, whats removed is next to nothing

The issue is that the 2 layers support the structural integrity of the shaft.

When installers have attempted this operation, the outer layer eventually separates/delaminates/ from the inner core, and the golfer has ruined an expensive shaft.

Update - I was able to shave it down and have been playing it since the last post.  No issues and I hit this thing a lot.

still my go to off the tee if driver or 3 wood bring in to much trouble.  no complaints

I put a GOST Stiff in my 22* hybrid and have been quite impressed so far. Hit it right after a 24* PING g430 (AD MT 6S) 9-wood shot and they were side by side.

I reached out to NIPPON and they said to only use .355 Taper tip and to avoid sanding down a .370 to fit.
