How funny.  I'm the other way around.  Original Ventus didn't work for me, but the TR Red does.  I tried the original Ventus in a TM Burner Mini Driver and experienced a much different flight/results than the TR Red.

TR Red is a great shaft for me.  I am trying out a Qi10 the last few weeks and just ordered a TR Red 6S to go in it.

I agree, it really is strange how just those subtle differences in the shaft can make one work really well and the other, not at all.

To me, the TR Red feels a bit more stout in the handle and upper-mid section. It's like the original Ventus Red is super stable in the handle but has just the right little bit of softness to allow me to have some feel in transition, and the TR Red pushes that stability a tiny bit too far and I totally lose the feel. It's such a small difference on paper, but huge in terms of how it affects my swing.

I'd be interested in try the TR Red again in 6S vs. the Red 6X I now have coming. I wonder if the flex difference might minimize the gap between the two in terms of how stout the handle/upper mid-section feel in my hands. (On the other hand, I could also quit tinkering and play the shaft I was just fitted for and know works for me ... but this is GolfWRX, so...)

I've had my new GT3 driver with a Ventus Red 6X out for three 18-hole rounds and two 9-hole rounds so far. Good Lord. This thing is incredible.

I have to credit my local Titleist fitter -- this is an exceptionally good set-up for me. The Ventus Red 6X was a shaft we tried toward the end of the fitting, and everything just clicked. On the course, I'm absolutely seeing the best drives in my life. Yesterday I bogeyed a hole because I hit it through a dog leg that I'd never really even flirted with hitting it through before. Happiest I've ever been about a bogey.

My struggle with the Ventus TR Blue, I think, was that even though I was on paper playing up a flex from what my swing speed might suggest, I still felt a mid softness that I never got 100% comfortable with. The difference between the TR Blue and the Red is that the Red just has a bit tighter handle -- I certainly feel softness, but it feels a bit lower in the shaft to me. It has me making EXTREMELY confident swings. I need to get on a Trackman because I'm willing to bet just about anything I'm above 105 mph for the first time in a long time.

So anyway, I'm out of the Ventus shaft I was fitted into a little more than a year ago, but in another Ventus shaft, and really, really happy with the performance.

The Ventus Red 7S tipped 1.5" in my 7 wood has been terrific, too! That club has become a real weapon. Still getting comfortable with the 3W, which also has a Red 7S tipped 1".

I did! I was totally open to whatever the fitter recommended, and hit the GT2 and GT3 in both 15 and 16.5. That spot's been mostly a tee club for me lately, so that's how we focused the fitting, and I was definitely getting the most carry out of the GT3 without having any real trouble also elevating it off the deck. I'm seeing like 230-ish carry out of the 3W and 210/215-ish carry out of the 7W.

I'm really, really excited about the idea of a Ping 4W with a slightly deeper face. And about the LST 5 wood, too!

Went with the GT3 10 degree driver at +.75, so 10.75, and then GT3 15 degree at standard loft 3W and GT2 21 degree 7W at standard loft.

The driver is already my favorite club in the bag and the 7W is right on its heels.

I see Fujikura launched the Axioms in 95g and a 125g stiff option today.

I'm already considering an impulse buy on the 125g stiffs. The GolfWRX crew or folks who followed this thread might remember -- I was a BIG fan of the demo club Fujikura built, Axiom 125X in a T100 head that now would be a couple generations old. The 105X won out in my fitting, but we considered the 125X and talked to the Fujikura crew about it, too. They were concerned in part about delays in getting 125X in stock. If a 125S had existed back then, it very well might have been my winner.

The Ping i230/105X at a D4 swing weight combo has been so good for me, but I don't think I'm ever going to shake the curiosity about the 125g version!

Hope the crew from that Fujikura trip is having a good summer of golf!

Are you still sweet on the Red 6x?  I see it's still in your signature.  I hit the Blue + last week, and it was terrific, very straight but maybe needed slightly more launch and tad more spin.  I think the Red might be the ticket.

Been a really busy summer with work so haven’t got out as much as I wanted to, but heading to The Kingdom on Wednesday for a fitting so will stop by and see Alex and the guys. Have to get my game ready for my trip to the UK in late September. Haven’t made any shaft changes since the trip, they just work so well. The Axioms are just a perfect fit for me. They give me the higher peak height and spin that I need but still have the stability and control that other lighter weight shafts don’t have. However I may look at a Ventus Red in my Ping g440 4wd since my TR Blue is not getting the same peak height it did in my g425. Hope everyone is doing well.
