Ventus HB vs Axiom in utility iron

I am looking to replace the shaft in my Srixon ZX utility iron.  Torn between a Ventus HB and the new Axiom iron shaft.   Really like the Ventus Red in my driver and fw so wanted to go with Velocore consistency in my utility.

 

Any thoughts?  Currently play Modus 3 120s in my irons.  Between S and X in fitting, but prefer the smoother feel of S flex.

I'm considering these two shafts as well. I'm playing c taper 130x in my irons but a tensei blue in my driver

 

I like the feeling of the blue profile but benefit from reduced spin of the black usually

Did you end going with Ventus Blue HB or the new Axiom shaft? How are you liking whichever choice you went with? I am debating this same thing right now, looking at either Ventus Blue HB 10X in my P790 UDI or Axiom 105X, I currently play a KBS C-Taper Lite 115X in my P790 and I like it but would like to go something lighter that doesn't take as much effort to swing. I am a high ball hitter so was thinking ventus Black 10TX but am worried about launching from the deck with that stout of a shaft.

Shouldn't be an issue.  I have the Ventus Black HB 9TX in my 16* hybrid and it gets more than enough height.  I've tested the 10TX in a 19 and 21* driving iron and it launched plenty high.  The only issue I had was that spin was on the low side which is why I went with the KBS hybrid proto.  I did test the Axiom in driving iron awhile back and it spins way too much for me.

Axiom 105X in TM 3 P-DHY, 125X in irons. Previously Ventus Black/TR user in driver/fairway. I never really liked the HB 9/10TX in hybrids I tried before, utilities in fitting. When got the DHY, was fit into HZRDUS RDX Red Hybrid actually, but wasn’t able to try the Axiom in fitting. Figured it was worth a shot building it and testing on course before putting the RDX in. Don’t see it leaving soon. Replaced a P790 3i with the 105X

Digging up an old one here! Just picked up a UDI Bomber and the stock Dart 105x feels like a wet noodle. 
 

Been looking into VF UT, velo+ black 10x, Axiom 105x and KBS proto. Pretty much just need it as a 1 trick pony off the tee, low runner to keep under the wind or if driver will be too much club. Could you compare any of these you have experience with?

I've tested the VF HY, Velo+ black HB, Axiom 105X and have the KBS proto.  The lowest launching/spinning option would be the Velo+ black HB.  VF HY would a touch higher launch with low spin but feel is second to none.  Velo+ black HB has enough feel, IMO.  Axiom 105X will probably feel like a wet noodle because it's EI profile is the same as the Dart V and has some kick/bend under the handle and the KBS hybrid proto feels pretty linear and stout but still has a subtle kick/bend in the lower mid and is mid/mid.

Thanks for the info! What made you choose the proto? Overall numbers and still good feel?

I originally wanted to go with the OG Ventus black HB, however it didn't quite spin enough, hence the KBS proto.  Both Velo+ black HB and KBS proto work well for aggressive transition and will have enough feel, IMO.  KBS proto isn't quite as smooth as the KBS Tour/$-taper and will feel more linear but it's still quite stable.  I'm able to work the ball both ways as well whereas with the Velo+ black HB, it's bit harder to turnover.

I'd echo @phizzy30 here. Currently have a Ventus Black HB 9TX in a Mizuno Fly Hi 3 19* driving iron and then KBS Proto 105 S+ in a TSR3 24* hybrid. Both are great, very stable but not super boardy. Neither feel like they require an aggressive transition to time them and make work.

 

I tried an Axiom 105X in a 4 driving iron a year ago and hated it. Felt very whippy toward the bottom. 

 

Just to clarify, are you currently using Dart or Dart V in your UDI? I've been trying the Dart V 120 F5 in a few mid irons and they seem pretty stable. Haven't tried the 105 F5 Dart V yet but likely will in a 4 iron.

thanks for the info! I think I’d rather start with the proto as it’s a bit less $$, and if it’s not right go for the velo+ black. 
 

As for the current shaft, it’s a Recoil Dart 105x. The stock shaft for a P-UDI
