New Mizuno fairway coming?

Recommended Posts

Vosh did a WITB on another website and teased about another fairway being tested and eventually released with lower spin. Any ideas on what it could be? Perhaps a competitor to the BRNR mini?

I just want them to release the ST-Z in 4-wood and 7-wood specs.

Agreed, think they really missed an opportunity. Their best player, Keith Mitchell goes 4 wood (lofted down) and a 7 wood, yet Mizuno can’t even make one to get him to switch. The STZ 230 drivers hang right there with Cally, Titleist, TM, etc so feel like they should expand their offering.

I love my ST-Z (old, not 230) 3 wood and 5 wood, but they're just a tiny bit squirrely for me sometimes. I feel like a 4 wood/7-wood setup would be much more consistent for me. I'd love to have Mizuno woods in those specs, but I'm not opposed to Titleist or Taylormade filling those slots.

I met Vosh a couple years ago and asked him why they don’t make 7 woods. He said “it would cost too much to sell too few”..

Today, there was a preliminary introduction of Mizuno Pro, which will be released this fall.

Unfortunately, I can't introduce the detailed contents including the image at the moment, but it is scheduled to be released according to the schedule below.

Announced on August 28/Shipment of trial hitting clubs

Released on September 15th

In other words, it will arrive as a trial club on August 28th, and it will be possible to fit Mizuno Pro's new product from this day.

The models to be revamped are Mizuno Pro 221/223/225/FLI-HI/ and S18 wedges..

I also feel that the flight distance is declining year by year, and the recent focus on irons has changed to "how easy it is to hold the old number".

It is often said that "If you raise the number one", I would like to hit a number that is 0.5 inches shorter. In that sense, I'm curious about the new version of Mizuno Pro 225...

Good news for left-handers as the new version of the 225 is also available left-handed.

Damn this fall is going to be one of the best in years. Also going to an expensive fall. Hopefully Pittsburgh will have good golf weather in fall.

I’ve talked to many Mizuno club employees and they give that answer a lot about stuff they don’t make.

I can see how that statement is true. The tooling costs are not cheap, with some being upward of 50k. A conversation with an OEM years ago was that lefties are 2% of the market so it’s very hard for any manufacturer to justify the costs for that product. Some agree to take the financial hit, but others don’t.

New S18 wedges? Isn’t the S23 the replacement?  Maybe the new T line?

Spot on.  7 woods are the “hot” item right now.  Look at the secondary market for 7 woods.  It’s crazy.

Hot, yet no OEM makes a player-focus version and as we can see some OEMs not at all. Callaway is really the only one coming close with tour van only versions and the 7-wood-ish Apex UW line.

I guess they just dont see the sales.

These companies do have to plan these releases out 1-2+ years in advance, so I wouldn’t be too hard on them regarding timing. Plus I’m not sure if their business is public or private, but regardless they may be up against the gun in business costs and pressed for efficient margins right now, who knows.
