New Rules - TOC Lottery 2024

Got an email from St Andrews today.  Looks like they're packaging TOC tee times in 2024 to make more money.  Now includes:

 

(1) Tee time to TOC

(2) Tee time to other St Andrews course

(3) Dinner at Tom Morris Bar & Grill

 

600 GBP during high season.

Just read my email. It’s actually still a decent deal. Figure £320+ for TOC, £160 for the other course, £40 for dinner, and another £30 for range balls. An advanced time from an official agent would be £1500+. I’m not sure if I read it correctly, but I sent them to email to see you can enter an application for each season window.

Last week, TOC was £290 I think. Jubilee and New Course was £130 each.

I played TOC late May this year. Give me a tee time, a round on another Links course, and a meal at the TM grill for 600.  I’m in!  
 

I think we ate at the grill 4 times on my trip. Decent food and their beer is cold. A round of putting at the Himalayas and what else could you ask for?

When I've done the advanced lottery, you always had to play a second round. So the only thing added for 2024 is the meal.

Wrong - been another time on one of their courses as part of the deal for a long time. 
 

Now you get a dinner. 
 

No doubt the pricing should result in more money, that’s the point of being in business. 
 

Not seeing any indication there are more time slots than before, but maybe more access the way it is configured with dates, singles, but not something I have an interest in reviewing.

Prices must be steeply rising next year. The same thing booked via ballot and walk up is £425 plus the food this year.

Everything everywhere is more expensive. Compared to the £1500 to £2500 from an authorized provider for a once in a lifetime is still a great deal.

Yes they have a single option. Go to Standrews.com and register so you’ll receive the email when the ballot opens.
