Star Sidewinder Grips?

Anybody play Sidewinders? I put one on my driver last night and this morning I was swinging it and it had a nice feel (currently using Tour Velvet). I planned on playing today and if I liked it I planned on ordering more, but it's super hot so no golf today. Thanks for any comments.

Best grips in golf. No joke. They feel better, last longer (by years), and grip better than anything out there. Hands down. Especially in rain.
I play Sidewinder Midsize, but their Classic Wraps are great too, and the Tour Star. Could not recommend more highly.

*They're also cheap! And made in America!!

They're great grips! We use them on all our demos at the shop. Awesome company, great product, better service, and a 3 year warranty on a grip.

Yeah huge fan.  Discovered them last year and that is all I use now.  Cant' really see myself using anything else.  Incredibly durable too

I switched to them last year after years of playing Iomics. Very similar in feel, but more durable, and half the price.

I was thiiiiis close to deciding to switch to Star Sidewinder at the point when my Tour Velvets started getting slick and worn. Then I bought a set of irons with Tour Velvet cords (hadn't used cord grips in probably 15 years) and remembered how much I love them. 

 

Darn it, there went my chance to quit paying high-$$$ for Golf Pride and use the cheap, cheerful, indestructible Star grips .

Pure stole their thing from Star anyway. Star has been around for decades.

it's true. Nothing like a cord. I bought a set of X7s with MMCs on them. They feel pretty good, but the minute they wear out, which is like any minute, on go the Stars!

 

(Star's Classic Wraps do attempt a "cord like" feel, with vertical grooves under the fingers. Not the same thing, of course. But that's my second favorite of theirs.)

Just have to add yet another positive commenton the Star Sidewinder.  I tried it on a whim and was immediately impressed.

 

Regarding durability...  I have a club that I have used from time to time.  It has also spent considerable time in the garage, in a bag of surplus clubs, with all the heat and cold (and dust) that comes with such storage.  It has a Sidewinder on it.  After 10+ years, just wiping it off with a damp towel, water only, it's not only usable but in very good shape.

 

The clubs I own that aren't gripped with leather get Star Sidewinders.

Yeah, and if you want crazy tack, add a touch of dish soap and a scrubber. Good as new for many more months.

(Rinse and repeat for years, until the Midsize becomes a Standard! 🙂 )

Just ordered some of these in undersize from Hurricane golf for $3.74 ea….. 13 grips shipped for $47 including tax.

All of the Star grips from Hurricane are Undersize (no standard or midsize). And I saw a thing on the Star Grip website a while back saying they are no longer an authorized Star dealer, and any grips purchased from them will not be covered under their 3 year warranty.

For that price I’ll take my chances. I use undersize Golfpride VDR so great deal for me. Not sure I’ve ever had grips last 3 years, so if I get a year out of them I’ll be more than happy. Just for info, have you ever had any grips that needed to be returned for warranty?

Have I ever had grips wear out within 3 years? Absolutely. And I would have sent them back for replacement under warranty if I could have, but no other grip manufacturer has a warranty anywhere close to that. I've had the same set of Tour Star Jumbo wraps on my clubs for 2+ years and they still look/feel like new!

Honestly never heard of a company having a warranty on their grips. Obviously they feel very strongly about the quality and durability of their grips. Excited to try them.

Love those Jumbos. And they are HEAVY! One way to counterbalance a club!

I have a set of these being delivered tomorrow. Red, mid size Sidewinders. Finally letting go of the Lamkin Comfort Plus grips that I used for years.

I'd just like something close to that. I'm not typically a golf glove guy and those grips are great for no glove.  Maybe I snag another set of dtxs before they are all gone.

Star had 30% off Black Friday, and 50% off Cyber Monday last fall, so I stocked up then. I also play undersize, with the lower hand built up using Howard's 2" step method.

Only thing I don't like is that Star changed their orange color from a "normal" orange, to fluorescent orange. 😬

I recall a few years back a grip company advertised that their quality control was so tight that their grips were noticeably rounder than any other. Was that Star?

Awesome, enjoy!  Would love to see a pic when you get them.  Have some old reds in the mid wrap and they are 3 years old and still feel awesome.

I think Star claims to have the tightest weight tolerances. Never hear about the roundness.
