2023 - National Opens Results

I'm back with my annual list.  I have dropped national PGA Championships this time around.  As more of professional golf becomes "closed", these Opens will continue to play an important part in the amateur/professional regional game.  Please let me know if I am missing any events, any other opens that have undergone name changes due to sponsorship, etc.  Enjoy!

 

 

I hesitate to put the Ecuador, Belgian & Dutch Opens on this list because they no longer have the country name in the title (KIA, Soudal & KLM respectively).  However, they do claim each as the national open still.

Austrian Open is still pro but dropped of the DPWT down to Challenge Tour.

No disrespect intended to our brothers & sisters across the pond.  I am not a Brit, nor does this event travel outside of UK.  Further complicating things is that the R&A itself has referenced the event as the "British Open" in the past.  See the (wonderful) collection of official films and final rounds on their YouTube channel.  Plenty of references and titles referring to both "The Open" and British Open.  Interestingly, plenty of historical books that mainly deal with American golf refer to the U.S. Open as "The Open".  These books are generally from the 1950s-1980s.  I get using "The Open" from a branding perspective however.  Maybe I'm stuck in a past time as I still refer to Riv as the "Los Angeles Open", Torrey as the "San Diego Open" and the BMW PGA as the "British PGA Championship" among others.  Don't get me started on the MLB "World Series"...

To me and and many golfers worldwide, it will always be the British Open.
