Sheffler has undeniably played the best tee to green of any player this season - but the flat stick is frigid and getting to his mojo - so if your telling me that putting is not the point of the spear in match play then I don’t see where this is going- of course he is on the team and of course he will play great golf - but coffee is for closers!

Not sure how you arrived that I was saying putting is not important.

 

I'm saying that captain picks need should be based on a larger body of knowledge, looking between the lines of data and not automatically pick based on ranking. I'd say I might not pick a guy if he were #7 on the list if he was in a putting slump. This is one of the EXACT reasons for Captain picks.

If I was Zach, I wouldn't be interested in players who have a losing RC record. Bryson has never won even a half point and Fowler has a losing record as well. I'd eliminate them based off their record alone.

He stuck with what he thought was best. I'm hoping JT is able to back up ZJ on this pick. Surprised at the Burns pick, good player but I thought you'd want someone with experience trying to win overseas.

Sounds like Brooks is in.  Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere (saw the Shaun Micheel comment), but Phil in 2021 would be an example.

Of the Top 12 Ryder Cup Points earners Cam young (#9) and Keegan Bradley (#11) did not make the roster.

This is disappointing, especially for Cam Young who has never before had the experience of being part of a Ryder Cup team.

This forum makes me laugh, someone above saying JT and Spieth will be liabilities. Really? They are rubbish at matchplay I suppose. No experience in the Ryder Cup, no experience of high pressure moments. No pressure of getting it over the line with the world watching.
