Earth to wy3134: The Ryder Cup has no connection to either tour.

The RC very much has a connection to the ET/DP Tour. Always has.

Dreams are not meant to come true.
Dreams are meant to keep you going through the darkness.

In Glover he has been really good for a very long time tee to green, and possibly the worst putter on tour. Now that he is a decent putter I think he would have been an asset to the team.

I think they underestimate how hard a guy will play or work when he knows it’s his only Shot. This was his only shot.

Rickie brings people to watch.  I know I'm a lot more likely to watch Rickie than Burns.

I'm not a Rickie guy but analytically he's been one of the top 10 guys this year; I would have had him in but not over Keegan who won more and beat Rickie for one of those wins.  I had Rickie over Burns but it has nothing to do with popularity.  I'm honestly more interested in watching the talented 27 year old with 5 wins vs the 8 year older bounceback veteran with only 1 more win.

I actually usually gravitate towards the Burns types; I just felt Keegans intensity as well as being a great driver filled something this team doesn't have a ton of.  Keegan would have been my 11th guy easily over these two.

JTs a unique conversation.  Obviously he's in terrible form but he's a 30 year old multiple major champ and probably the most emotional team guy over the last 5 years.  He's #15 in points and still top 30 OWGR so it's not like he's as far gone as Spieth was when he missed the team (could be in 6 mo).  He was #10 for me

JT wasn’t even the best JT on tour this year (Poston)

That press conference was all kinds of awkward.

Yep. Never a good look when you have to defend 3 of your 6 picks to the kid glove  corporate media.  And worse so when you can’t defend it. But instead have to deflect with the same canned answers that aren’t even on topic.  “ how rough was the call with Keegan “.   Zach - “ man. It was all rough. I’d take 30 guys if I could “.  That’s not what was asked Zach. Not at alll.

The problem is, the exact logic to pick JT should negate Rickie from being picked.  You can't say past performance matters and JT being 6-2-1 gets him a pick, but then pick Rickie who is 3-7-1.

Good point!

Also, if a Captain is going to pick guys outside of the Top 12 in points I want it to be players who have never before been part of a Ryder Cup team. Give a new guy the thrill of it.

JT fan but he did not deserve a spot. Neither did Morikawa. There's no reason to think either will play well given the current state of their games.

Interestingly, JT, Morikawa and Burns are all in the negative for World Ranking points in 2023.  Everyone else on the team is in the positive for the year.  Bradley's the most glaring omission if you're looking at consistency over the last 8 months.

Let's talk pairings...

We know:

Sheffler/burns

Jt/speef

Cantlay/shauffele

My guess on some of the others:

Koepka/fowler

Clark/Homa

Morikawa/fowler

Clark/kopeka

Harmon is the odd one. Seemingly can pair with anyone. But what sticks out to you?

Four Ball:

Spieth/JT

Harman/Cantlay

Burns/Scheffler

Homa/Koepka

Foursomes:

Schauffele/Morikawa

Clark/Fowler

Koepka/Schauffele

Scheffler/Spieth

Not a bad point at all. I don't get Bradley not getting the pick. But Glover was on the bubble.

Also I'm not here to defend JT being picked. He was another "bubble boy" that was mostly off. But again none of us have the insider info either like the Captain.

ZJ is a pud and I've never been a fan of his since I met him at the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron. Keegan deserved to be on this team. Now you don't even need to qualify, just get one of your buddies to make it and he'll make sure you get picked too. And I like most of these guys but there has to be punishment for having a bad year. ZJ gave way too many hypocritical answers!.

I know they’ve had lots of historical success and like playing together, but I’d stay far away from a Spieth/JT foursomes pairing. Over the last year they’ve both had long stretches of having no idea where the ball is going. Could be fine for fourball I guess, but foursomes…no thank you.

Seems that’s where Harmon slots in, right? Someone who keeps the ball in front of himself and makes a ton of putts. That’s a guy you want to lean on for foursomes.

golfchannel posted some quote on tv screen  from bradley...this is roughly paraphrased , roughly.......but    .it said something like he felt he wasn't in the inner circle or something.... also that he had tried to become more friendly with certain people to try to change that
