Seems that’s where Harmon slots in, right? Someone who keeps the ball in front of himself and makes a ton of putts. That’s a guy you want to lean on for foursomes.

But jt and speef are 100% playing together for 3 matches.

No. The picks are to create more of a team culture and better pairings. The top 12 rankings were forcing them to use guys that no one likes or wants to play with.

Sure, Team USA hopes to win. But all 30 players (really any player with a current PGA Tour card)  who competed last week can shoot 65 any day. So if the Top 12 Points List is not sacred I would like to give players who have never been there a chance at having the experience and memories.

My first choice of a roster would be Top 12 points earners, period.

My second choice would be Top 6 Points earners plus 6 Ryder Cup rookies.

To me, Rickie is the guy skating under the radar.  Finally got a win after 5 years and, while playing well the latter half of the season, has a 3-7-1 Ryder Cup Record. 

 

I don't see how ZJ makes the case the JT is worth a pick because of his past record, despite being out of form, and for Rickie, who might be in some form, but has a terrible RC record. 

 

 

He did make the case. You quoted it in your question. You just didn’t like the answer.

Oh yeah, especially as it seems ZJ is running this as a buddies club, rather than going with who’s actually playing the best. Disaster waiting to happen, sending them out as a foursome, but it’ll almost certainly happen.

Im as big a USA homer as anyone, but the way this team was picked leaves a real bad taste , I realize the #12 guy is on the bubble but Cam Young got the royal shaft..going forward its going to be real hard to root for JT

Either he wasn't watching, or he didn't care what he saw.  He was going to pick the big "safe" names anyway.

There are guys that people don't like to play with let alone be teammates. I know me and my buds have those guys. You may also. They have annoying rituals, routines and manners that kill the mojo. Maybe that's the deal with Bradley? He does have weird routines and then there's that time with Miguel Jimenez. Who knows I'm just guessing. But on paper alone I'd go with bradley.

I'm a JT fan and I'd say Keegan has the biggest gripe as he should be in over JT.  The other gripe could be Rickie being in over Tony. I think he will get there, but Cam just doesn't seem ready yet.

As a Europe fan, I am happy with those US picks.  I think the US team are still favourites, but Europe have a better chance than I thought we would after that thrashing two years ago.

 

There will be huge pressure on JT and Spieth to deliver points, and on Scheffler to find some putting form.  On the other hand, I have a sneaky feeling the likes of Harmon and Homa will do well.

I want to win as much as anyone, but I also want to support a team with guys  that earned his way on the team

I'm thrilled to see Koepka get picked, it would have been disappointing to see the LIV - PGA thing get in the way of a legitimate player on the US roster.  Now, I believe this is a really well put together team of guys who, if they can find the fairway will do fine over in Rome.  My only "wow" was Burns, I legitimately didn't expect him.  But in the perspective of pairings, I do think this is a good 12 group of players.

Patrick Reed wasn’t ever the life blood. He dressed up and played well against Rory but nobody likes that tool.

Harmon was 3rd in points, wasn't he? Not one you can blame or praise ZJ for, I'm afraid. Hope he plays well, though.
