I think the one on 7 was just a very bad shot. The shot on 11 though, why was he flirting with the water on the left, should have been well  right of the flag even with a pull.

It seems nobody wants to actually win this event.  So many poor shots, especially form the bigger names.  At least it has been entertaining to have on while I work in the shop.

The weekend set up for Rory like one of those ugly Tiger wins in which no one else really does anything. Feels like Rory should be 8 shots back, but take away one of those bad swings and he's a well played #16 or #18 away from a victory.

Having already won on the PGA tour I'm surprised Vincent Norrman wasn't in the conversation more for a wildcard pick.

I'm gonna blame the change in weather for some of the bad golf. It was so dry for so long and all of a sudden it got very wet and the speed of everything changed everything around. Poor finish from Ryan Fox, thought he might win it.

 

Rory was particularly bad though, what the hell was he doing at 16 all weekend. But for the luck of the rocks he would have had two triple bogeys. An embarrassing finish here to explain.

 

Happy to see Shane Lowry finish in the top 3. Might silence some of the doubters who said he shouldn't be in the Ryder Cup team. He's hit the ball beautifully this week.

A solid seventh place finish, too, for Min Woo Lee, upon whom I wagered a few quid to finish in the top five...

Min Woo is an incredible talent, but still a bit raw at times it seems with course management and managing his score. Seemed to be in the trees several times today.

After watching a bit of the back nine it seems to me Rory needs a brain transplant.. How the hell can someone with his talent hit short irons or wedges into ponds several times?  Seems he just can't aim a bit to the safe side of the pin.

After going at his driver at 95%, it seeps into his Irons where he totally loses the proper rhythm.......everybody knows that.🙂

I've been a fan of Rory since he was in his teens and after he won 4 majors so quickly in such convincing fashion I thought he would make double digits easily.  Present day I don't see that happening.  Now he's just known for hitting it long and blowing big chances.  No wedge no putter = no greatness.

Followed the first few holes today for Rory, he was hitting it solid and long and wedge on first was beautiful. Finished pre rain delay with massive straight drive on 4. The delay and the torrential rain seemed to mess him up much more than it should have. There was placing but he didn’t seem to get the contact he wanted on any shots when play restarted. Everything was off a little left or right from then on. Rumour around was that his back wasn’t 100% still and he has a long morning routine to get ready for play. The 1.30hr break seemed to put everything out of sync just enough.

Very unlucky after a 10mday long September heatwave to have weather break with thunderstorms. Got lucky that the next lot passed by so the final round could finish. Didn’t look likely during the hour of thunder,  lightning and torrential rain.

Certainly the people advising him are not aware. There are quite a few players who hit it hard no matter what the club. with Victor Hovland being a prime example.
