set list from this past Friday night ... quite enjoyed Sweet Virginia ... tour debut ... pretty sure they did not play it the previous two times i saw them ... it was a good show ... be the last stadium concert for me ... some friends are going to see aerosmith in n'ville and are thinking about other old acts in big venues, but i'm done ... this was a $700 show when hotel room is included ...

last one i posted was MIKE (who’s 26y old, so by that definition born after most of these bands had started).

anyway, seen since:

Shabazz Palaces (Ismael Butler, of the early 90ies hiphop group Digable Planets);

Mike Reed Separastist Party:

 

and more jazz from Bex Birch, Ruth Goller and ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti & Frank Rosaly for a showcase by the label they all release on International Anthem. Bex Birch performance was impressive, very intense despite sounding gentld in parts but very interesting (i like some of the releases on the label, definately not everything, wasn’t particularly interested in these artist just curious and they were in town). 
 

Nothing planned for the upcomming weeks, but might go and see Kokoroko later this year (jazz/afrobeat), Brandee Younger (jazz harp), Beak>

Throw me in the old guy camp.  Just went to see Dead and Co at the Sphere.  Really great shows throughout the weekend.  Everyone raves about the visuals, which are truly unlike anything else, but its the sound in that place that is just amazing.  It's so clear.

 

If there is a band you can stand playing the venue, I would say to take the flyer and buy the ticket.  It could well be the future of music venues for the low, low cost of $2.2B.

Some semi-recent standouts were Train (2022), Adele (last year), and then just a few weeks ago Luke Combs. Combs was fantastic--sounds better live than recorded, and puts on a hell of a show.

 

Coming up we've got Kenny Chesney next month and P!nk in Sept... Excited for both.

Took the kids to see AJR this weekend and will say they put on an awesome family friendly show! Lost of video screens and special effects. It was the kids first concert and will be hard to match it.

That mid-week trip is just so danged tough to make.  My liver just thinks 72 hour max.  Oddly enough we are missing it by a couple of days.  When are you going to rock on the weekends?

Not too long ago my wife and I saw Three Dog Night and The Little River Band and it was a really good show and it brought back memories.

This friday we'll be in Vegas to see Earth, Wind And Fire. My wife got us front row seats and this will be the third time to see them play.

Saw them in 2002 on Pop Disaster Tour with Jimmy Eat World and Green Day. Such a great show.

 

Went to Mammoth (EVH's kid's band), 3 Doors Down, and Creed Saturday. Great show, 3DD was way better than I expected and Creed was really good. I was shocked by Mammoth, never heard of them or anything of theirs and thought they were really good.

Nice. Wanted to see Creed on this last tour, but the dates did not line up.

 

Saw 3DD headline last year and they were great. Last time I saw them was probably 10+ years ago. 

 

Currently have booked Disturbed, Metallica, and Papa Roach / Rise Against. All three shows next year.

We went to Rockville 3-4 years ago and Metallica closed 2 of the nights...night 1 was the hits night 2 was the black album in reverse...Disturbed played that show as well. Trying to decide if I want to When We Were Young in Vegas.

Def Leppard, Journey & Steve Miller was excellent. DL has aged well, one of few bands that look like they actually like each other, lol.

 

Seeing Aimee Mann of 'Til Tuesday fame in a few weeks at a very small venue. Loved TT's "Comng Home" LP, great songwriting.

NY hiphop duo Armand Hammer last week. My daughter (17) decided to join me last minute which was a fun surprise. She didn’t really like their sound though (I personally am still undecided, like some of their song but def not all).

Have a ticket to a show by Brandee Younger tomorrow (harp-jazz). But think i have to skip it unfortunately. 
Clock DVA is doing a show in Utrecht at the end of the month. Tickets were allready sold out when i found it so still hunting for a ticket.

Got to see Clock DVA this weekend. I really like their first album (‘Thirst’), but the concert was full electronic. Heard some nice bits and pieces, but music-wise not completely my cup of tea. And where I am usually one of the older people in the audience (50yo in a month or two), now i was the youngest 😂

Yeah, The Fillmore is legendary. Been to many shows there. Social D was of course incredible!

I miss living in bigger cities for the music scene (grew up in LA, and spent a couple years each after college in NYC and Chicago.) Down in Tampa now and there’s still a decent amount of stops but nowhere near as many. Getting a bit older too so I love venues that have seating lol. Have seen Osesza, CREED, Backseat Lovers here.

 

Saw Vampire Weekend over in Saint Augustine and loved spending some time in that city, was a great excuse to make the drive over.

 

Was trying to get Rufus du Sol tix here in Tampa but sold out within minutes and scalpers asking $300+ over sticker wtf…

The Dead South played Edmonton back November, 2024. This is a band out of Regina that I've seen probably half a dozen times, good tunes.

In a few weeks I am going to the Saturday night show at our Crawfish music fest…Cowboy Mouth, Hinder, Marcy Playground, and Puddle of Mudd. Brett Michaels, Sister Hazel, and Everclear are playing Sunday but don’t think I’ll make that one.

2 weeks ago, March 11, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats took to the stage in Edmonton, and the Teskey Brothers from down under opened for them. Most enjoyable.
