.370 Tour Ad DI Hy in .335 taper tip???

Has anyone put a .370 GD Tour AD DI Hy into a .355 4 iron? I'm considering putting one in my p770 4 iron. What performance benefits will I see and how did you go about sanding the tip to get it to fit correctly?

A p770 should be a .355, so sanding down a .370 to a .355 shouldn't be an issue at all.  Going from a .370 to a .335 would be concerning.

I haven't done this, but I do have a T200 utility build with a GD Tour AD IZ 95x hybrid shaft which is also 0.370. I was thinking of building a T100 4i with this shaft by milling out the hosel to 0.370. I am pretty sure that this is what they do with the T200 head vs. sanding down the shaft tip.

It’s done all the time. Just lightly sand and install.

Yeah exactly.  Like think about all the Graphite Design DI hybrid shafts out there in driving irons.  Just off the top of my head Finau and Hovland have the actual hybrid shafts (and not the much worse, in my opinion, driving iron shaft).  I just wish the hybrid shafts didn't cost $225+ lol.

I did exactly this in the last summer. I have a GD Tour AD DI hybrid 85 shaft at my Srixon ZXU. The Srixon hosel was not that tight and I did no had to sand down la lot. If feels good and plays better… if there is much difference to the long iron shaft from GD Tour AD Di ? I don’t know

Hi @ShawLF - that was my post from a few years ago.  I've since done this multiple time as I continue to think I'm a driving iron player only to be humbled in the first few rounds (until I found the Srixon ZX).  Just go slow and continually check the fit - you can always take more off, but can't go back if you've taken too much off.

If you are patient and look around, you can find a used one for a reasonable price. I have a DI 85s Hybrid shaft coming that I paid $100 for.

Thats fair, I typically don't like buying used shafts, but this could be one of those situations if I really want to get a 105 without paying 2x as much as the head its going into is worth, lol.
