2024 AVX?

Will be a shame if the Tour Speed gets replaced by something similar to the AVX, as from trying both I find the Tour Speed the much better ball. Better flight and feel off the long clubs, much more spin round the greens, doesn't feel like a marshmallow off the putter.

In fact I'd go so far as to say my least favourite ball in the Titleist range is the AVX.

I have been playing the Tour Speed this fall and have  come to enjoy it.  Hope it doesn't change.

Looks like they are just starting to do some testing. I am always a lover of white box day

Why is Titleist sending golf balls out for testing to people in Canada in mid November?

That is an excellent question for them.  I will have to spend sometime on trackman with them in the coing weeks and see how the numbers are.

I have been a Prov1 not an AVX guy so it should be an interesting comparison

Are you allowed to share any photos?  There's some speculations about what they are doing with the new AVX and I'm curious to know if they look similar to the previous AVX or if they look more like the Tour Speed.

The picture in the other thread was from back in March and the OP in that didn't show a card from Titleist specifying that those were AVX test balls (the side stamp was blacked out precisely so that no one would know which ball it is).  Some people speculated that those were AVX, but no one knew for sure.  That's why I'm curious to see what these confirmed AVX prototype balls actually look like.

That seems to corroborate the comments that they are merging the AVX and Tour Soft into one ball.  I'll be curious to know how they play and it'll be interesting to see how Titleist markets them when they are released.

Aren't Titleist supposed to be merging the AVX and Tour Speed?

I went back to the AVX this weekend if for no other reason that I had a sleeve in my bag and in the fog I wanted a yellow ball. I really forget what a great ball it is. I played the left dash almost the whole season but in comparison to the AVX, the left dash is just so damn harsh feeling off the irons - it honestly feels awful by comparison. Its exactly the amount of spin I want on full wedge shots and just feel fantastic. Off the tee - in soggy conditions - I was hitting it right about where I was all summer with the left dash.

Will be interested to hear if they do make changes.

Just bought a dozen of Left Dash to see if I could deal with the contrast of feel. If not, maybe I will just stock up on the 2022 version

That may have been my post back in March. The letter that came from Titleist didn’t mention what model they were. A few comments did mention back then they might be the new AVX but others said the font looked more like Titleists lower end balls. I prefer a softer feeling ball and have played AVX in the past. Currently playing Chrome Soft. I only got to play a very late in the day 12 holes with the test balls. The balls I received felt great to me. Soft but still felt very lively off all clubs not mushy at all. Medium flight and I had at least one drive that was farther than I’ve ever been on that hole. All others were at least a bit further than Chrome Soft on equal contact. It was cold and soft that day so hard to get a feel on spin around the greens. But whether or not that was the new AVX I’ll try them when they come out

Anyone receive test balls? Was hoping Titleist would send some prior to golf being over for us New Englanders 😞

I received a plain package in the mail three days ago, i'm in Australia.

Opened it to find three titleist test golf balls.

Here is the card with a picture of the balls.

Titleist know my preferred ball is AVX.

I haven't tested them out yet, next weekend.

I figured I'd bump this thread to see if anyone has any info on the 2024 version of the AVX?  I've seen speculation on other web sites, but nothing definitive yet.

Kinda interested myself.  Switched to the AVX last fall and sure hope they don't screw up a good thing.  I guess we will have more information once the PGA Show has happened (Jan 23-26).  If I don't like the new ball, I can always go to the TM TP5.  That is if I don't buy a few dozen and play the 2023 ball all season.

For me the Pro V1 and the AVX are pretty similar to each other... I like the lower spin and lower flight with the AVX, but the difference isn't huge so I can switch between the two balls without really noticing that I've changed.  So, in that respect, if they change the AVX it won't matter too much me.  Though I'm hopeful that they are going to move the AVX to their "lower tier" of balls and make it cheaper, but keep the same performance.  If they completely change the AVX then I hope the Pro V1 left dot comes to retail.
