2024 Bridgestone Balls?

After playing 18 holes and testing against TP5X, Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X, I'm left feeling meh about the new BX.  I was most excited about this release as it's been my go to ball for two years.  I liked CSX bit like BX more.

BX was shorter off the driver than the other three balls I tested, but had more green side spin than all except CTX.  It felt slightly clicker than prior gen BX but this is not a terrible thing.  It still has that cool sort of plastic feeling off irons, which is addicting.  Great with irons as to be expected.  High and good dispersion.  Felt similar to CTX off putter and softer than TP5X.  I think I need more time with it to make a final judgement call, but for now I'm underwhelmed.  I got some off the cool "mindset" BX on order so I'll def be testing more.  But, I needed BX to be longer off the tee.  It's also possible I had a dud?!  Be very curious what others think about the new BX

How did you find iron distance and trajectory between the 3?

the previous generation bx was long off the irons with plenty of spin for me.  Chrome soft x was half a club shorter on good days, and a full club shorter on days when I got flippy.

hopping the new chrome tour x is a little longer off the irons than the chrome soft x was.

From Highest to lowest

TP5X

BX
CTX
CT

CTX and BX had a similar iron flight to me, but CTX felt more dense and BX more crispy.  But, by no means do any fly low.  CT was more mid-high.  This is observational but, CTX is def not shorter with the irons than BX this year.  CTX imo is an improvement in every facet to an already good ball in CSX

Was it the new TP5X you tested it against?

Feel wise, is the new BX firmer feeling/sounding to the CTX? Reading your review I’m thinking I’ll either be sticking with the ‘22 BX or going to the CTX.

This is a good question and we all know feel can be subjective.   The new BX has a higher pitch and that classic tour BX feel. Firm cover, softish core.  But, the CTX feels more dense, and comes off with a lower pitch.   This is evident on iron strikes and around the green especially.  I love the way prior gen felt, and the new ball, imo is slightly more clicky.   I'm not ready to give up on BX yet bc it's for sure a good ball.  My ball this year will be CTX, TP5X or BX.  By March we should have a winner.

Do you think you will give the new TP5x a shot as well?

It probably won’t spin enough for me off the irons, but I’m sure I’ll give it a try. If the CTX is the prototype CSX* ball I tried in the summer there is a very good chance that it will my ball. That being said I really like the ‘22 BX and it performs great for me so I would be just fine still playing it.

New Bridgestone balls are available a bit early from Golftown.com so I've ordered a dozen BX to go up against Chrome Tour X in Trackman testing. Both past iterations were fantastic in the wind so not concerned about testing indoors at all for these for the season. Can't wait to see if what the tour guys are saying that the new BX is spinning more than enough and that a spinnier version (XS) is not necessary besides for extreme low spin players.

I have heard though that the new XS is an absolute spin machine and if that spin is needed you will love it.

I’m also a Canadian Golftown shopper how much are the new Bridgestone balls this season?

They were $69.99. So 3 bucks cheaper than the other "top" brands.

Hello - Was finally able to play a quick 9 with my new '24 Tour B RX. Always liked this ball and interchange with the AVX's.
Found the '24 RX to have a bit more spin/bite than the '22 and a tab softer. As to distance didnt see much difference between the '22 vs '24 and the AVX is still longer off the tee, but the RX does respond more from the 8 iron down.
More feedback to come, but wish to hear others chime in. Also Thank You Bridgestone Golf for the free dozen RX's!

Has anyone tried the mindset balls yet? Has it helped on course? How are you supposed to setup with them? From the description it sounds like you should focus on hitting the green dot but how do you do that if it’s on top?

As far as I understand, that whole Mindset logo on the ball isn't really meant to be an alignment aid of sorts.  It's moreso to get you to focus on the PROCESS before taking your shot.

@Morry I'm one of those that pays ZERO mind to Bridgestone's 105 SS ball choice.  BX spins more off irons this year too.  It's a great ball.  Nice around the greens too.  BXS was always a little soft for my liking

I’m actually quite surprised that Bridgestone continues to use the 105 swing speed as a guide on which one of their balls to play. They came out with this number at least 10 years ago and their balls have changed so much that I think they really limit some people that won’t try the bx and bxs because they don’t have the swing speed when in fact they’re both excellent balls and can easily be played by slower than 105 swing speed players
