2024 Bridgestone Balls?

Ended up going with the BX this year over the BXS.  The flight off the driver was perfect and it doesn’t feel as harsh as I remembered it feeling off a putter.

Tour bx held up with distance of tp5x?  How was spin comparison?

Played a full 18 today with the Bridgestone. It definitely spins more with with scoring clubs into the green. I had a few today that backed up quite a lot. It was very impressive off the tee (driver, 3 wood and Hybrid), no lack of distance against the TP5x.

I went to a practice green nearby after work yesterday to test the short game of four different brands. I put the ‘23 ProV1x, Snell MTB-X (yes I still have some), Chrome Tour X, and the ‘24 BX. I used to game the ‘22 BX but felt it was difficult to get the ball to check up around the greens, so I switched to the ProV1x.

Of the four balls, I felt the BX was slightly easier to put some zip on the ball to get it to check on shorter chips, and the others were so similar to each other that I couldn’t tell a difference. On 25-30 yard pitches, it behaved about the same as the others.

I’ll try longer game shots during my round on Monday.

Spent a little short game time with the RX and Chrome Soft (2024) just to see how they compared.

Spin on short chips (less than 40 yards) was very similar.  Feel was similar.

Putting - this is where I noticed the biggest different.  The RX has a noticeable click to it when struck with the putter.  The CS was very muted giving it a much softer feel.  The CS seemed to track a little better primarily due to the it requiring a softer stroke to accomplish the same distance.  I could get used to the RS with some additional practice, but it definitely required a little firmer stroke to travel the same distance as the CS.

I'm going to play them both on the course my next round just to see how they compare.  My approach is to play from tee to green on a par 3, 4, and 5 with both balls.  I use a best ball approach so I can just them from similar lies and distances.

I’ll try longer game shots during my round on Monday.

Played 18, alternating between MTB-X, CTx, BX, and ProV1x. For the most part, the balls all performed nearly identical to each other.

On drives, the MTB-X flew the straightest, but distance wise they were all within about 10-15 yards. CTx and ProV1x had less control when hitting a draw than the other two balls and could easily turn into a nasty hook.

Approaches, all were very close to their pitch marks. Snell MTB-X flew highest, and the other 3 were indistinguishable. They all felt about the same firmness as well.

Chipping, I’m not sure if today was just a bad day or if my wedges need to be replaced, but I could not get much check out of any of those balls. I realized that the wedge I used to practice with in my earlier post is a 54 degree that I didn’t put into play much because I decided to go 56/60. My gaming wedges may be worn enough to make it difficult to put spin on the balls when I need them.

On putting, the CTx felt softest and the BX nearly identical to the MTB-X with feeling the most firm. I really liked the TruVis alignment on the CTx.

Overall, I am going to stick with my supply of MTB-X until I run out of them. Does anyone have any Snell 4.0 that they decided they won’t be gaming and would like to do a 1 to 1 trade for CTx or BX?

After being reluctant to try a Bridgestone ball I finally tested the new 2024 BX and wow! I have finally found the perfect ball for MY game.

I will preface this by saying I like a hard ball, but my previous experience with harder balls has also equaled too little spin around the green. The BX however is the perfect balance… again, for the way I play.  Below is a club type breakdown:

DR and FW - I play a small cut and this ball flies very strong and holds the line well. The way I hit the ball it can balloon a little off the FW hitting directly into the wind.

Irons and Wedges - play a draw and the BX has enough spin to drop and stop even with a draw spin into the green… no running off the back! Wedges around the green are where this ball really shines, so much spin control. I can one hop stop the ball or bump and run and it’s very predictable.

Putter - ball feels nice and firm off the putter face and rolls straight

All in all the BX is a phenomenal ball. If I have to choose any kind of negative I would say maybe durability… but comparatively I found it more durable than the new Chrome Tour.

I found the ball to be harder than the proV and tp5/tp5x with more spin and control. After playing 2 rounds I bought 3 boxes for the summer!

Curious if anybody had any experience with the BX vs the BRX?

My driver SS hovers right around 105 (but also not sure if that really make a difference in performance with the balls).

FWIW, my most regular ball that I like is Pro VIx, wanted to try something different this year and so bought some of the new CTX and just didn't love how it performed (and durability definitely seemed worse than a Pro VIx). Looking for higher launch on the driver, more-ish spin on approach and around the green.

Wondering if I should give some Bridgestone's a shot but hard to find any good comparisons between the BX and the BRX. I did try the 2022 BX at one point and thought that they were too hard and not spinny enough for me but it seems like they may have dialed that back a but with the 2024s.

I've got very limited experience with both.  Some chipping and putting with the RX and one round with the X.  Chipping and putting the RX feels a tiny bit softer than the X, but I think in a blind test I'd have a hard time telling them apart.  The RX might also have a bit more spin on chip shots, but again, it isn't a huge difference.  In my round with the X, I thought it felt firm, but not hard, throughout the bag.  Plenty of spin on full and 3/4 wedges.

One of the golf shops near me (a branch of WorldWide Golf Shops) has half dozen trial packs of the MindSet version of all four Tour B models for (I think) $20.  It might be worth it to see if anyone around you has them and you can put the two to the test side-by-side.

I've found the new BX to be slightly softer and have more spin than its predecessor.   Great ball with great green side control

Has anyone tried the mindset balls yet? Has it helped on course? How are you supposed to setup with them? From the description it sounds like you should focus on hitting the green dot but how do you do that if it’s on top?

They were giving them away at my course. Put one in play yesterday. The mindset logo was an annoying distraction. Had to figure out how to hide it off the tee.

I got to play the new BX this last week and was really impressed. Coming from the last few generations of the XS, I was easily driving it 10-20 yards past where I usually am, and irons were at least half, if not a full club longer. More height, straighter flight, and longer than what I’m used to. I’d like to get on a launch monitor and compare sometime. Who knows, maybe it’s the warmer weather, but they’ve been magic for 3 rounds.

I agree.  Played last week and it was hot.  So maybe that was it.  But played the BX in yellow and it sure felt long.  Like really long.  Felt good.  Not soft but not firm.    Of course I loved the ball because I played well with it (76).  Will buy more of them.

Anyone playing the B-XS in yellow that can provide a review and can compare the 22 and 24 ball? I'm a fan of yellow balls and I'm thinking of stocking up on the 22 ball.

I have yet to play the '24 ball, but the '22 B XS is just amazing.  It plays, to me, exactly like a yellow Pro V1, but at a fraction of the cost (and it 'feels' more explosive to me, though driver and iron distance is practically identical).  I haven't been able to find a reason to try the '24 ball because the older ball is just so good (and cheap).

FWIW, my driver speed is only mid to high 90's.

‘22 BX was great at everything, and from what I’ve seen the ‘24 BX performs just as well with a slightly softer feel and a touch more spin around the greens.

I'd agree. The main reason I liked the XS over the X before was because of the feel and spin around the greens. This year's X feels good to me now, and while it's still not as soft as the XS, the extra height and distance is a big plus.

The B X may be my favorite ball of the year.  I’ve tried all the major players. But not necessarily the “other” ball yet.  chrome Tour X is really all that I feel the need to.

TP5x                 Really liked

Tp5.                   Not for me

Pro V1 - dash.   Love

Pro V1.               Really Liked
