Mesquite NV & St George UT Golf Trip Help

lookylookitzadam

Recommended Posts

I’m trying to plan a golf trip out to Mesquite and St George in April 2024 for 6 guys and looking for some input/advice.

Course list so far based on one day in St George for 2 rounds and 1.5 days in Mesquite for 3 rounds.

Sand Hollow GC

Coral Canyon GC

Wolf Creek GC

Conestoga GC

Falcon Ridge GC

Reached out to Eureka Casino and GolfPackagePros for quotes.

Any other resources you recommend to coordinate through or revised course selections? It will be everyone’s first time playing in the area.

Thanks in advance!

Would look into playing Black Desert - possibly the best course of anything in that whole region.

You could also consider Copper Rock - the new course in SG...now the conditions are that of a new course, but you get to be one of the first to play it...so kinda a good option.

I would skip Falcon; Coral Canyon - make sure you keep an eye out on conditions, that is the main consideration, because they can be less than desrable.

Thanks for the info. Black Desert looks amazing and think swapping that with Coral Canyon may be the way to go.

I would also recommend Black Desert - probably my favorite course in the area followed by Sand Hollow.  Course conditions were amazing and I would imagine things only getting better when the resort and clubhouse gets completed.

Here is a pic I took of one of the par 5's...

Amazing! We have updated our itinerary to include it.

Has anyone worked with GOLF PACKAGE PROS for planning and booking?

Is this in or near St. George?   My wife wants to go there for 3–4 days of golf, plus a friend lives in the vacinity.

Yes - technically Ivins. opposite direction of Sand Hollow (NW of STG).  Resort opens sometime in 24.

Thanks.

I just found their website and requested resort resv info.  We're going soon after the Resort opens.

  • 3 weeks later...

2024 will be the first year since 2020 that we won't go to Mesquite/St. George on a week long late Winter golf trip.

I'd drop Coral Canyon for Copper Rock. We played that this March for the first time. Fun, tough track. Love to get another shot at it.

We've gone through Eureka Casino and through the local Mesquite golf package guys (there's a bunch of web site addresses that go to them) and prefer dealing with Jennifer at Eureka.

I’m also planning a Mesquite/SG golf trip later this year.  I’ve read that rounds take 5+ hours. If that’s true is it even worth trying play 36 in one day?

Rounds where?

Regardless - this is not true.  The same can be said anywhere on a trip...at the end of the day it comes to pure luck on who else is on the course.  I have done 36 multiple times.

Now - Wolf does slow down and can take 5 hrs because it is longish holes/routing, it's tough and the desert is environmental so there are reloads required, and of course pics.

The current plan for a fall Saturday is to play Sand Hollow at 8:30 AM followed by 2 PM at Copper Rock.  Most of the bad reviews for Sand Hollow are for pace of play.  But, like you said, it’s comes down to a crapshoot as to who’s in front of you.

Ahh...I can say fortunately, I have not had slow play on my rounds.

I wish you the best.

Have a trip on the books with a similar itinerary, but I have a question

Is it a bad idea to plan on landing at LAS at 9:40, and trying to make a tee time at Wolf Creek for 1:40? We’d need to pick up our rental, and get our bags from baggage claim prior to the 1.5 hr drive to wolf creek. Does anyone know how smoothly the airport baggage and rental car situation tend to run here?

Pretty typical baggage and rental scene.  You should be fine, your itinerary gives you safely 2 hours for baggage and car. It would have to be a pretty big fluke to not make it.

I have a six-round trip planned for mid-April.  We have two houses in Entrada.

Courses we are playing:

Sand Hollow Championship two days
Entrada
Black Desert
Copper Rock

Coral Canyon

I'm looking for restaurant recommendations.  I've selected Painted Pony for an upscale dinner and will look for other less expensive places.

What do you recommend?

Barring any baggage issue (two of us didn't get our clubs until an hour after everyone else on my last trip) you should have plenty of time. We arrived in Vegas at 9:30 & had a 12:30 time at Oasis Canyons course and made it in time, barely. 😄

Also WC has an irons only range.

Personally I think you'll have plenty of time even if your flight arrival got delayed 30 min.

@lookylookitzadam Did you end up using GolfPackagePros?  Considering them as well in order to get a Black Desert time.  Thanks!

Yes, I used them.  They made a big mistake but corrected it in time to save our trip.  I would use them again, but would call all the courses to verify that we have tee times.

Yes, pace of play is an issue.  On our first day there, they were 22 minutes behind schedule at 9 am.

It is only an 1 hour 15 min drive but that could be tight. Just make sure your rental car is one you can go straight to the car vs stand in line at the counter.
