A group of us (24 in all) will be staying at the Casablanca in a couple weeks.  I'm no critic, but I'll try to post an impression of the place.  We're playing golf every day, so there may not be much feedback on amenities.

Callaway Ai Smoke MAX 10.5* / autoFlex SF505

TaylorMade M1 3HL 17* & 5W 19* & Sub 70 7W 21* / Kuro Kage TiNi 70S

New Level 902PD 5-PW / SteelFiber i95 R

Titleist SM8 50* & New Level SPN V2 56* 60*  / PX IO 6.5 "8i Spinner"

It’s been a few years, but Casablanca was a pretty basic hotel room. Nothing fancy but serviceable. Really didn’t spend much time in the rooms.

On the spot - basic hotel room.  Could definitely use a few more outlets or, in the case of our room, more that worked.  Heh.  I'd compare the rooms to Main Street Station in downtown LV.

Planning a trip out there in May.....Is there a set time of year where the courses in St. George tend to aerate?

I notice some of you are planning on using tour operators, any reason for doing so?  The only time I have used them is planning trips for Europe.

Thanks.

May/June is aeration; Sept/Oct/Nov is overseed if needed or aeration - most don't.

From my experience, late April and May are punching times.  You can call the courses and some will tell you their schedule.  Entrada punched theirs about April 10th this year.

I don't use tour operators.  But I have used a tee time service occasionally to get guaranteed tee times months in advance.

Just got back from a trip.  We played Sand Hollow, Wolf Creek, The Ledges, Copper Rock and Black Desert.  Quick rundown.

1. Sand Hollow - Second time playing here.  Views are great.  Course conditions left a lot to be desired.  Several fairways had bare spots and they were doing some sort of cross cut verticut.  They hosted a PGA tour qualifier here a couple weeks ago for the Black Desert event and I'm not sure how.  Easily the worst condition of any of the courses we played.  Also played the 9 hole links course.  Fairways were a little better but several greens were having issues.

2. Wolf Creek - Great condition.  Fun course as always.

3. The Ledges - Really liked this course.  Probably the best condition of any course we played not named Black Desert.  Definitely recommend.

4. Copper Rock - Again, great condition.  Nice change of pace from the typical mountain courses.  More of a links style.  I would definitely play this one again.

5. Black Desert - Probably the coolest looking course and best conditioned course I've played.  Unfortunately for us, we played on Friday (the same day the PGA Tour event at TPC Summerlin was delayed due to wind).  We had 40-50 mph wind gusts and the course was basically unplayable.  Balls wouldn't stay put on the green and putting downwind was impossible.  Never played in anything like it to be honest.  Greens were running way too fast for the wind that we got.  Free food and drink and the food was actually pretty good.  Very nice practice facility and putting course.  Would love to play this again.  Also, you have to have a forecaddie.

6. TPC Vegas - Good shape.  Nice course but kinda meh for the money.

That's a shame about Sand Hollow. I have been in touch with my contact in Mesquite getting info for a March trip out there and she said the same regard  SH. She told us to play somewhere else. Right now it's looking like Copper Rock, Coral Canyon, Conestoga, Oasis Palmer, Falcon Ridge for our trip. Might see if we can swap in Ledges for CC.

I played it in April and we had the same issue.  Lots of dead grass in the fairways.

We are going on this trip next October. I know we are are going to play Wolf Creek and Black Desert.

My question is, what other course would you pair with Black Desert is St. George's and Wolf Creek in Mesquite?

Just had a trip this October.  Flew in to Vegas on a Friday and played Coyote Springs in the afternoon. Did 36 holes on Saturday at Sand Hollow & Copper Rock.  Sunday played Black Desert (AWESOME!).  Monday played Wolf Creek & then flew back out of Vegas that evening.  I would have been fine skipping Copper Rock & Coyote Springs.  Sand Hollow had some spots that were recovering, but honestly it didn’t bother our group much.  I think I probably would have enjoyed Copper Rock if we played it in the morning.  We played in the afternoon and it took FOREVER - waited on every single shot & it was close to a 6 hour round.

Consider adding Sand Hollow, just be aware that conditions that time of year may be in recovery from the blazing hot August weather.

A couple things.  Just be aware of your tee times and the time changes if you're going to play 36 a day in October.  Wolf Creek is a 5+ hour round just due to the terrain and everyone taking pictures, etc.

For St. George, as Titleist#2 said, Sand Hollow is an awesome course but compared to when we played it last the condition was pretty bad.  I assume by next October it will be back to normal so that would probably be my pick.  If the wow factor is high on the list then I'd play Sand Hollow over The Ledges and Copper Rock.

To pair with Wolf Creek, I was a big fan of Conestoga.  I didn't play it this trip but I have in the past and enjoyed it.

Thanks, will look into Conestoga and Sand Hollow.

We are going to stay on site at Black Dessert but with Wolf Creek not offering lodging, where did y'all stay?

Welp, that idea is off the table. Wolf Creek is closed all of September and Black Desert all of October.

I have decided to choose Black Desert and we will just stay in St. George the entire time.

Thursday- 36 (Best Options) Sand Hollow and ??

Friday- Black Desert

Saturday- Entrada

I enjoyed Copper Rock and the Ledges.  I've heard Coral Canyon is a good track.  I think Copper Rock was a nice change of pace since it's a little more links style.  It's also closer to Sand Hollow proximity wise.  Another option to consider is that Sand Hollow has a nice little 9 hole short course.
